I just did Define Lower Body. I didn't have the patience to go through Align, lol--I have a very strong yoga background. I really enjoyed DLB, although for me it was a bit easy and too short! But I totally loved it.

I'm in! I'm starting tomorrow. I absolutely love Chalene. How will we hold each other accountable?

Yay let's all be in a group!

I'm sure there will be a lot of haters, but I feel my absolute best when I stick to paleo. Nutshell, it's grain free eating and sticking to whole foods (things that don't have ingredients  ). It's possible to lose weight, although I didn't, but I look like I did--for the first time in my life I'm not bloated. Google…

If you can eat it and it doesn't bother you, EAT IT. When I eat it, I look pregnant, feel lethargic, and clog toilets. I gave it up before it was super trendy, but my instinct is that this is an issue for a lot of people, since everyone I know who's given it up for the sake of the trend tends to feel better. This could…

If you're really worried about health, see a doctor (a campus doctor maybe?). They'll be able to give you a better answer than any of us. Do your stats seem low to me? Yes, but there are so many factors that I couldn't possibly weigh in with any real authority!

Who cares if you're gaining? The number is meaningless--you look fantastic!! Just use measurements!

I tend to care more about fun than time, so I like running with friends. But it definitely slows you down. (If you can find a 5k with dogs... my dog makes me RUN, lol!)

This is definitely the place for support! Looking forward to hearing about your journey!

I totally agree. Have ice cream late at night for no reason or don't? That's a biggie for me!

There's a lot of science to back it up at www.whole9life.com. If you guys want to super kickstart it, you can go for a Whole30, which is explained on that site too. I've done it a few times and feel AMAZING each time. I feel and look incredible when I eat this way. I feel lethargic and foggy and fat when I don't. The trap,…

I have those thoughts sometimes too, and I'm at a totally healthy weight. It's entirely in our heads. But maybe you can use them as motivation!! (I tend to turn that 'everyone is judging me for buying ice cream' thought into a 'well, I won't buy ice cream' action!) Seriously, though, I'm sure no one is REALLY thinking any…

What a difference! Way to go!!

I wouldn't worry about going over on protein. MFP's default is laughably low.

Mine disappears when I stick to paleo eating. I think eating grains must retain puffiness or something? (and I still eat carbs, just fruit or sweet potato type carbs) Let's just say I've been SUPER happy with my butt since I went paleo!! (and the rest of my body. I'm working out less than I used to, and I look a million…

This is awesome!! Finally made it to a computer to read it. So proud to have you on my friends list!!

I'm the same. I've been strength training for years anyway, but I hate it. I find it so boring. And, frankly, I don't like the short term results!! With cardio, I feel energized and happy afterward. With strength... I feel tired and hungry. That being said... my arms and legs look awfully pretty :)

I've experimented a lot with coffee. Iced is tolerable black, but I need a little coco milk if it's hot. I'm fairly dedicated, sure. I also stray a fair amount. I was really just looking for input on what types of straying screw people up most. My body is an ever evolving experiment  Thanks for the input, everyone.

Happy is good. The bean thing is more of an "I don't want to be an A-hole all the time at Mexican restaurants" question  I don't NEED beans.

Keep doing the un-squatty parts of P90X. And maybe after a few days or a week, or however long you feel you need, perhaps try starting squats again but not going as deep. It's possible that your legs/butt aren't quite strong enough to support the movement so more pressure is going into the knees. Maybe build it back up…
-
I've only done P90X--you would easily be able to modify anything, especially considering your background. I also have chronic back stuff leftover from a car accident (neck and lumbar spine), and I had no problems (other than the obvious, you know, working out is supposed to be hard kind of problems!). I also have a pretty…

Where I live (Los Angeles) you can get it at any old grocery store in the baking section, usually on the bottom shelf since it's not SUPER popular yet. I also use it for everything, and I actually like that it's solid until it melts in the pan (or on my skin. Or in my hair. Etc). I find it easier to manage the portion,…

I'm not a scientist or a doctor, but I think I've read studies that show paleo style diets are good for stabilizing blood sugar (since protein, fat, and vegetables don't cause blood sugar to spike the way sugar and grains do). I don't have issues with blood sugar, but I know my body looks a lot better since I began eating…

I found that regular scales tend to be wobbly. I'd go digital. And remember, the number is not as important as how your clothes fit and how you feel!

Great video! You're a hottie  I'm a huge fan of Beachbody--I did P90X (Tony Horton will always be my first love), and Shaun T's Rockin' Body, and I've dabbled with Turbofire and LOVE it (although I haven't committed to the 90 days yet, I've just been throwing in DVDs here and there). Your progress is completely…

Different dietary choices work for different people. I'd say if you're doing it for ethical reasons, go for it, but if you're doing it for health, I wouldn't. I was vegetarian for 3 years and felt like crap the whole time, and I was making "smart" and careful choices. I know some people feel MORE energy, but I felt…

I also noticed a huge difference after switching to paleo eating (not straight from being vegetarian, although I was veg for 3 years earlier in life and felt like crap all the time, despite making 'healthy' and 'educated' choices. I too have a gluten problem. I'm not a crossfitter (YET) but I've totally noticed my workouts…

Interesting--I consider myself a clean eater (at least on good days), but it never even OCCURRED to me that there are 'good foods' and 'bad foods' like this article is describing (or badmouthing). I try to get a pretty good ratio of protein, carbs, and fats, of all colors and shapes and styles, because frankly, if I don't,…
-
I think a lot of vegan food would not be considered 'clean', because it's highly processed (like soy meat substitutes). Clean generally means unprocessed stuff (meats are included--like, a chicken breast can be clean, bacon isn't because it's cured--although it is wonderful...). Or, as a friend recently put it, 'eating…

If you're worried about digestion and headaches and such, you could always ease into it. The body gets pissed at major sudden changes, not gradual ones. So you could cut grains a little each day, or something. I believe the headaches and other stuff is because the body has to learn to use protein and fat for energy instead…
