  • Interval training is nice and it sounds like you like your workout. However, walking is not a waste of time for many people. Walking does burn calories, it's smaller than calories burned during running or other cardio but it does serve a purpose. I'm no newbie to weight loss and exercise but I still love to walk and that's…
  • It may be awkward or uncomfortable for you but stick with it and it will get easier. At the gyms I've been to the men have been very friendly, offering to share equipment, spot, help take down the million 45lb plates that someone left on the squat rack, etc. Do your research ahead of time, try to practice the lifts at home…
  • I never had anyone criticize my food but I got a lot of comments saying that I never eat and I'm getting too skinny. They obviously never spent any extended time with me though because I was always eating at my desk. I couldn't stand the group of women that would spend their lunch hour talking about the next fad diet or…
  • Omg that sounds amazing. I worry that the peanut butter and nutella with get a little too melted and ooze out everywhere?
  • I work from home so I access to all of my food. However, when I worked outside of home I would always plan my day ahead of time, including snacks and just bring those snacks and meals each day. We had a cafeteria with plenty of healthy options if I ended up having an overly hungry day.
  • You really need to weigh your food every time you eat it. Just because the red container held 3oz one time doesnt mean it will hold 3oz next time. Meat can be denser or light than the previous time you had it. Bananas and apples are a lot higher in cals then the entries for "large apple" or "medium banana" suggests. Weigh…
  • 1. What is the benefit to Stronglifts 5X5 vs Crossfit, other prograns? What made you pick Stronglifts? - Stronglifts looked less complicated and something I could do myself. It also looked like it had shorter sessions than some of the programs. I'm down for the best bang for my bunk. Less time = same/better results. Sign…
  • Thank you everyone. I will start doing some accessory work. Hopefully that will help. I lift the same time every time; about 4:45pm. I've tried to lift in the morning but it just doesn't work for me. I lift with the same form, including bar grip/setup each time per my boyfriend. My bench was once per week this month due to…
  • I don't do anything between lifting days other than walking but that's every day and not excessive. I'm struggling to increase DL the full 10lbs each session so I've lower that increase and it's fine. Squats are hard but I've been increasing with fractionals and haven't had any regressions with it.
  • I would count it towards your water. I count tea towards my water and drinks that I make with Mio or other similar brands. I tend to drink more plain water though because to me nothing beats nice ice cold water.
  • My mom would absolutely adore you. She is a huge Koala fan and is instantly friends with anyone that is a fellow Koala lover. Best of luck on your journey. Take it slow, don't expect to change all at once. Pick one thing to try to improve and go from there. If you overdo it then you are less likely to stick with it in the…
  • Reading everyone else's posts I feel like a slacker. Still new to lifting; lifted for a few months at the end of last year but had horrid form, didn't stick to a good schedule and then took two months off during my move. Been lifting for about two months now and while I had to basically start from scratch again I've been…
  • Did you bother reading the article before you jumped to the defense of the show?
  • I liked both Dove and Bliss since they are individually package and they are very good. You seem to like bliss so stick with that. I think they are 30-40 calories per piece? Not bad at all. I am personally on a dark chocolate with sea salt kick right now. Dark chocolate is okay by itself but I rather milk chocolate but…
  • I love her :blushing: :flowerforyou:
  • Going to an anime convention next weekend and they are partnered up with a steampunk convention. I'll take lots of pictures and report back. I'm going to get an outfit together by next year but I've been too busy getting my cosplay ready this year to attempt a steampunk outfit. Steampunk fashion is beautiful on women and…

  • You don't need to exercise to lose weight. It can help create a deficit but it's not necessary. If you get that weak from walking it could be because you aren't eating enough. I know when I was eating 1,200 calories I could never get the energy to do any exercise even though I didn't mind doing it. If you are starving…
  • On the website: -Exercise (TAB next to FOOD and REPORTS) - My Exercises -Create Exercise (Green TAB to the Right) -Create the name of the exercise, time spent exercising and calories burned.
  • I'm in the same boat and interested to see what people have to say. When I was doing different workouts like 30 Day Shred I would get very sore. When I first started 5x5 I got sore for the first few workouts but it's been almost 2 months since I've been sore.
  • Can't believe it taken me this long to read this. You are so awesome. Seriously. I love how strong, smart, beautiful, funny, nerdy, awesome, etc. you are. You are smart enough to know what's BS in the threads and what has been asked a million times yet you are always nice and direct in responses. I'm very glad I stumbled…
  • I agree with you. TDEE - 20% (which was 1lb for me) was about the same amount of calories that MFP suggested when I picked the right activity level, weight loss goal and added my exercise in. A lot of people want to lose weight unrealistically fast and automatically set a weight loss goal of 2lbs.
  • They are not very expensive, easy to use and take hardly any time. I actually find it easier and faster to weigh food than it took to use measuring cups in the past. Plus it uses less dishes. Just because you hit goal doesn't mean you won't need to count calories to keep at goal. Keep a food scale on your counter, put the…
  • Congrats!! It's great that you are buying a bike with the money. I did one of those a few years ago at work (based on percentage lost) and ended up winning 1st place. Everyone paid $10 to join and 1st place got 80% of the prize money and 2nd place got 20% The prize money was $300 but I only ended up getting about $160. The…
  • Activity trackers, TDEE calculations, MFP are all estimates. Some are more accurate than others and use more data. I personally found that my TDEE calculations and my fitbit flex are pretty similar and MFP is pretty low. Nothing is going to be 100% accurate, neither are your calorie consumed calculations though. If you are…
  • I personally feel that split programs are better for more advanced lifters and that compound full body workouts are better for beginners. I think you can get a lot of strength gains from compound movements as a beginner and then transition into a split body program when you are more advance. I have never used a trainer and…
  • I know a lot of people that lift with barbells at home and plenty that go to the gym. It really depends if you are willing to buy the equipment for your home and if you have the room. I would love to get a set up at home but there is no room in the place we are renting. Once we buy a house, I will be buying my own power…
  • Should have included a link for those that are interested in it: http://www.lookhuman.com/design/41347-working-off-my-adipose They are a little on the expensive side but I got my tank in my profile pic and another one from them and the quality is good. Love all the nerdy workout gear, especially the doctor stuff.
  • I'll be getting this shirt on my next paycheck.
