Ditto. I gained 70 with my first, but about 30 of that was water from pre-e. This time I gained 38 and lost the first 31 in the first month. I've got 3 left now, and hope to lose it before I go back to work next month.

Thanks-I didn't even think about searching for this topic. I'm a little slow lately with the mommy brain and all! I was just curious how each person was logging individually. I found out from the milk bank how many calories are in each ounce of my milk. So I added it as a food with a negative calorie balance per ounce,…

I have two heart rate monitors. Crazy I know. I have the Polar F55 for gym, treadmill, indoor track use. I have the Garmin 405 for outdoor running use. If you are going to start running, get the gps heart rate monitor. You'll be glad you did.

Heart rate monitor. It was well worth it for me.

I thought I'd mention. In order to stay up with my electrolytes on the days that I did long runs in training for a marathon, I'd need up to 4-5 GRAMS of sodium. Running for 2-3 hours, you HAVE to up your sodium intake-water intake too-1.5-2 gallons for those days.

Sodium is a VERY controversial topic. I've studied it extensively because it is crucial for life. Sodium is a necessary electrolyte for muscle contraction, and guess what-your heart is a muscle. Most people will just tell you eat as little sodium as possible because it gets such a bad rap. If you are working out, you NEED…

This depends on your perspective. Most people are referring to the space that fat takes up on your body, vs the space that muscle takes up on your body. So yes, a cubic inch of muscle weighs more than a cubic inch of fat. Running is to aerobic activities the way that heavy weight lifting is to weight training. If you want…

Running is not a good weight loss tool. You can jog and walk, but running will cause you to gain muscle. I don't remember the exact measure, but for every one part muscle, you retain two parts water (or something like that). Most of the weight associated with muscle gain is, in fact, water. Running builds muscle. I gained…

I LOVE MINE!!! Get the wii fit plus though-it has more games. I get an hour a day to spend with my husband doing the wii.

BMI is the best indicator of health. BUT... Plugging numbers into an equation online is not a healthy way to figure your BMI. You MUST get it checked by a professional (or at least someone who knows how and has the right equipment). My BMI is off by a percent or two because I carry more muscle than the "average" 5'4"…

If you aren't racing, run at a "comfortable" pace. I know this is kinda vague, but it tends to be a vague sport. Run so that you can take that next step. Run so that breathing doesn't hurt. Run so that you can finish. This takes trial and error, but your body will rapidly change when you start running. You'll find a groove…

My husband did this-but only the diet portion-not the hcg. He started 9 weeks ago, and has lost 54 or more pounds over that period of time. It is my opinion that this is not safe, nor will it last, but I'm just supporting him. He actually ate more than 500 calories because he is a BIG (strong) guy. He didn't eat breakfast,…

I started running so I could eat more food. I love food! I wound up running a marathon a year ago. Good habit, I'd say. Two thoughts... The first is that you should be eating 300-400 calorie "meals" anyway. Research suggest that six "meals" a day tends to keep the metabolism going. The second is that if you enjoy working…

Bump. Hopefully I can join you guys on Monday.

I'll try and find the post later, but a good estimate of how much sodium you should take in is 1 mg per calorie. Therefore if you eat 1200 calories, then you should have 1200 mg of sodium. If you workout to the point where you need to eat 3000 calories just to stay at what you exercised, then you should eat 3000 mg of…

http://www.dreamerdesign.net/dreamer_strollers.cfm I'll be getting the dreamer design ditto rebound merge. This is what I was led to be personal reviews and research into pricing and accessories. I had to call the company to decide between two models. They were so nice!!! I was instantly impressed by their customer service.

Jennifer-don't panic if you plateau at first. Your body is just getting used to new eating and is rebalancing. I plateaued for about 3 weeks before I was able to lose more than 2-4 pounds.

If you diet during your training, you will do more damage than good. Songbyrd will give you strong information with a basis in science, but if you are dieting to lose weight (caloric deficit) you cannot build healthy muscles and bones while you are doing that kind of training. This is the voice of my experience. Here is…

I have a degree in psychology from canyon college. Completed entirely online, I had been out of school for years when I discovered I had obtained a useless piece of paper from a degree mill. I graduate in May with a degree in Emergency Management from West Texas A&M University. The experience has been a pleasant and…

It is true that splenda has chlorine in it. So does salt (sodium chloride). Look at http://www.healthyeatingclub.com/info/books-phds/books/foodfacts/html/data/data5h.html I believe that the makers of splenda replaced two of the atoms of a sugar molecule with chlorine to get rid of the calorie count. Essentially, you can…

Do you eat nuts? Good way to stack calories and protein and healthy fats.

I just want to point out that there are many things that are one molecule separate from something that would not benefit the human body. Splenda has extra chlorine molecules when compared to sugar. But you don't eat bleach when you sweeten your coffee with splenda. http://www.snopes.com/food/warnings/butter.asp
