  • LOL that's exactly what I thought when I read the title
  • I  micoach by Adidas. I use it for run training but it has a whole lot of different programs. (http://www.adidas.com/micoach)
  • Interval training (regardless of what exercise you are doing) is when you alternate between high intensity and lower intensity exercise. For example, running for 1 minute then walking for 1 minute then running for 1 minute ..... for a total of 15 minutes. Try these websites for more information:…
  • Hi and welcome! MFP is a great place to find some support and encouragement, no matter what your goals are. I'm sure you'll love it here
  • Do you mean the dimples associated with cellulite or the two dimples on your lower back (just above the butt)? If it's the first one, cellulite is really hard to get rid of and likely has a genetic component. I've had at least some cellulite on my butt and thighs all my adult life, even when I was 55kg (121lb). :grumble:…
  • As Megs said, so long as you don't feel faint or otherwise ill you can push your HR higher. I've been using a HRM for a while now and I know I'm not working hard until my HR gets to at least 175. Unfortunately my PT knows this too lol. I regularly have my HR up above 175 and generally get to about 180 - 182, particularly…
  • It depends on how much you want to spend. Polar is probably the most reliable of the top brands (the others being Suunto and Garmin). You can get a Polar FT4 from Amazon for under $100. I use a Polar F4 (the predecessor to the FT4) and love it. The FT6 and FT7 also seem to be popular on MFP.
  • I'm on 1200 cals (as set by MFP). On days I exercise I try to leave at least 300 cals uneaten which generally puts me at 1400 cals, otherwise I eat between 1100 - 1300 on non-exercise days. I've been losing weight quite successfully with this and have noticed that if I let myself slip and overeat by 300+ cals I either…
  • I haven't really been active on the message board, more kind of used it to search for information/advice.

  • I  climbing too! I haven't been for a couple of months though as my regular climbing buddy is renovating so doesn't have time to climb  Hopefully we'll get started again in the new year. Definitely a great workout and I find I don't notice how hard I'm working until I come down at the end of the climb, unless…
  • P90X seems to be quite a popular programme around here. You'll find multiple threads on it. As far as I am aware, there are no rules to naming the programme, be it exercise, diet or an all inclusive one , you're using in your weight loss journey. Most people are interested to hear what others are doing in order to get…
  • Also this site: http://www.glycemicindex.com/ It's the official GI website and has a searchable food database. I try to include as many low GI foods in my diet as I can.
  • I'm glad to hear you have some control over your IC Dominica. I've only every had what I think is a mild case of IC and I haven't had any flares for a long time, so I'm counting my blessings.

  • Hi Tara, Great idea for a thread. Name: Lisa Age: 32 How long you've been diagnosed: Not formally diagnosed. Meds: None Weight Loss Goals: 15% body fat which should be about 58kg (128lb) Triggers: Unsure what starts it but coffee, chocolate and lack of water prolong a flare. Story: I haven't been formally diagnosed but I'm…

  • Hi Jimmy, Another Aussie (and also from Perth) here. I found this site via the iPhone app too. It's definitely improved over the last 6 months as more Aussies have joined and input food details. Good luck with your weight loss. Add me as a friend if you wish :glasses:
  • I'm sure you won't regret it.
  • You can do this! Try planning your meals for the day the night before if you can. Also, you may find it easier if you commit to changing one thing a week instead of making a whole bunch of changes all at once. For example, this week you could commit to doing 15 minutes of cardio every day. It may mean the journey takes…
  • Have a look at http://www.adidas.com/micoach It has a free iPhone (and others) training app and is very customisable. The website also has a Library section with articles on nutrition, correct technique and other topics. It also has training programs other than 5km so once you've achieved that goal you can move onto a…
  • Yes they can! I was on MFP for a few months before I started participating in the forums and "making friends". It's amazing how much more I've been able to stay on track with that sort of accountability.
  • Definitely do it. Do they have a Training Course for it? Some triathlons aimed a beginners do and some even provide a bike to borrow for it. I did my first in February this year (300m swim, 7km bike, 3km run) and am looking at doing another couple in the next few months (I'm in Australia so our Tri season is October -…
  • Agreed. If you tell yourself you can't have the things you like then you're more likely to fail. Allowing yourself to have those things but in smaller portions is the key to achieving long term success. Also, instead of making whole bunch of changes at the same time, try making one change a week. For example, next week you…
  • You need to put but change the IMG to lowercase You look great btw, and I agree, 20lb IS a lot on a small frame. I have the same "problem" :-)
  • I found this on the web some time ago: Description.....Women........Men Essential fat...10-13% .......5-8% Athletes...........14–20% ......6-13% Fitness............21–24% ......14–17% Average...........25–31% ......18–24% Obese..............32%+...........25%+
  • I'm sorry to hear that. Not all PTs are like that. In fact, the good PTs are the complete opposite. I've been with my guy for over two years now and he's been nothing but supportive and encouraging. He does push me but never in a bad way and he's never made me feel bad about myself. To get the most out of a personal…
  • That sounds frustrating and painful! Definitely go see your physiotherapist to get some qualified advice. Having said that, have you tried Bulgarian split squats? I'm not sure if this will help but is worth a shot. http://www.how-to-get-a-bigger-bum.com/bulgarian-split-squats-the-best-buttock-exercise
  • I've been meaning to get something like this. Thanks for the link.
  • There's quite a group of Aussies here, though not too many from Perth that I've come across so far.
  • Hello from sunny Perth :drinker: I definitely recommend getting involved in the community, reading/posting to the forums and making friends. The motivation and support you get here is amazing! Add me as a friend if you want :flowerforyou:
  • Not the smileys Binary has been posting
  • Hi and welcome to MFP. I've found this website really helpful. There's plenty of motivation and support. There's a growing group of Aussies here along with a few Kiwis too. I'm from Perth. Add me as a friend if you like
