  • It depends how much you want to spend. Choice did a review of Body Fat Scales at the end of 2009. The top 3 were Soehnle Body Balance Shape F4 ($170), Visage Body Analyzing 4527 (A) ($20) and Propert 3042 ($70). I have a set of regular (not body fat) Soehnle scales at home, which cost me about $70 at Myers a couple of…
  • Glad to hear everything went well. Now rest up and make sure you recover/heal properly before getting back into the exercise!
  • Thanks :blushing:
  • I use this (Australian) website frequently. http://www.taste.com.au/recipes/collections/low+kilojoule
  • Nice circuit! :glasses: I had to look up Bulgarian Split. Looks like it could be nasty
  • I'm with you on this. I hope you don't get ripped. Thank you for posting references to back it up too.
  • Bump! I just discovered this via Binary_Jesters post on another thread!
  • Hi and welcome from sunny Perth  I'm not specifically using the C25K app but I use Adidas micoach instead (it has more training programs just 5k). I run 3 - 4 times a week but I also swim 1 - 2 times and see a Personal Trainer 2x a week for strength training. I've also just started mtb-ing (loving it!) and need to…
  • I don't snack. I eat 3 meals a day, ranging between 250 and 500 cals each. If I DO snack it's either because I've had a big exercise day or a bad day. I have coffee with milk which I count towards breakfast, or the occasional Chai Latte or dessert if I have spare cals. I don't subscribe to the eating 6 times a day to boost…
  • I just Googled "Hungry Girls Cookbook" to see what sort of recipes are in the book and found their website and blog! http://hungrygirls.com.au/wordpress/ There are some awesome looking, healthy recipes on the blog and the articles are amusing. To top it all off, the Hungry Girls are Aussie! (Yay for us Aussies  )
  • Congratulations! :drinker: I'm sure you won't be needing the "fat jeans" soon and potential embarrassment can be avoided
  • Congratulations! :drinker: I had a similar experience recently too. I bought a pair of cute short shorts about 2 years ago which were a bit tight then but I refused to go up a size lol In the intervening 2 years I put on weight and there was no chance I could fit into the shorts. In the last month or so I've really become…
  • Hi Sharon! Welcome to MFP. You'll find plenty of people here to offer support, encouragement and advice. Good luck on your journey
  • Best wishes for your surgery and a speedy recovery! :flowerforyou:
  • Could you perhaps set aside a day or two for a walk with Grandma which is separate from your C25K?
  • How would you go about the fast? Are you thinking something like the Muslim Ramadan fast where you don't consume food and drink (aside from water) from dawn to dusk, or another type of fast?
  • MFP does use TDEE when figuring out your daily calorie target. If you look under Goals you'll see a box titled "Your Diet Profile". The Calories Burned from Normal Daily Activity is your TDEE. MFP then uses this to determine what your daily calorie target is based on your goal (i.e lose 1lb or 2lb a week). MFP will not set…
  • Not entirely. Your BMR is the number of cals required just to keep you alive. ie this is what you would burn if you were in a coma. What you should be using is TDEE (Total Daily Energy Expenditure). To get this you multiply your BMR by an activity factor. The activity factors are: Sedentary = BMR X 1.2 (little or no…
  • Congratulations on making the decision to put yourself first. This website has really helped keep me on track and losing weight. I highly recommend becoming involved in the community and making friends. Seeing comments on your activity is really motivating!
  • Being under for one day is not going to negatively impact on your metabolism or weight loss. If you aren't hungry don't feel like you need to eat just to bring up your calories for the day. You may find you are a little more hungry than normal tomorrow and may even eat over your calories. Don't beat yourself up over it if…
  • Well it's closer than the USA lol I find 100 cals is not enough if I'm already feeling bad. 300 - 400 will perk me up though. A check up with your doctor might not be a bad idea. Take along your food diary (you can print it out by clicking on the "Print Full Report" button at the bottom of your food log) and he/she might…
  • I have the red F4 (which is being replaced by the FT4) and really like it. It haven't had a problem with the watch or chest strap and have even worn it swimming with good results. If I'm wearing a sports bra I do find I need to wear it between the bra and my skin to ensure a good connection.
  • It sounds like you're from Western Australia? I'm in Perth myself. I forget to log water all the time. You're diary isn't public so I was just throwing it in there as a "possible". I think it may be more a case of too much too soon though. Supplements may be a good idea but please be careful when it comes to iron. It is…
  • It may have been too much of a shock to your body when you reduced your calorie intake. Seeing as you ate 2300 on Saturday and felt fine you could try to consistently eat 2000 cal for a week then reduce that to 1800 the next week, 1600 the week after and finally to 1500. Also, are you drinking enough water? Tiredness is…
  • I've added you too. I find it really motivating when people comment on my progress etc so I try to return the favour, particularly when I notice that someone doesn't have any comments on their activity.
  • With Polar HRMs F and FT are the fitness models (with FT replacing F), RS is running and multisport and C is cycling. You probably only need one of the fitness models. The FT4 and FT6 are both good and usually under 100.
  • Hi and welcome to MFP! :drinker: You'll find lots of support and advice here.
  • The Polar is one of the base models and doesn't measure calories burnt. Neither does the Garmin. The Timex watches do seem to measure this, but I have read mixed reviews about them.
  • I generally don't feel guilty about occasionally going over my cals, exercise on the other hand ... if I miss a workout for no good reason and won't be able to make it up later in the week I feel soooo guilty.
