Tameko's thoughts on this are awesome. I talked to my PT about this one day, just curious as to how much of a cut of my sessions she actually got versus what the gym took. You make more depending on the level of certification you have. You start very minimal (for example, if you're teaching a group class, it's $5 a person…

Turns out girls also like big butts and we cannot lie. ;)

Tameko, this is very impressive! Sounds like your mental block would be the only thing holding you back from 200. Like you said, start fresh on a new day and just go into it being all, "eff yeah, I got this."

jstout, your arms are AWESOME. So great to see your hard work paying off. :)

You say here that you'd rather BE strong than look strong. So do that. Find a girl who likes you for how you like yourself, instead of catering who you are to please someone else. Good luck!

Dude, you look AMAZING. Awesome goals. I agree, it's a shame when guys act like teenagers when a lady is in the weight room. Flattering, but rather hilarious.

Love, love, love this @chunkmunk! I get some looks/questions for sure. I've been going to the gym very consistently 4-5 times a week for the last few years, and I'm not looking to quit just because I'm pregnant (especially when so much of what I've read seems to really encourage maintaining being active and its benefits on…

YAY! I love that feeling so much; enjoy it!

Haha. Thanks. I think it has really affected how I've felt through this whole pregnancy (which has been pretty darn awesome, generally). Also, I feel pretty bad *kitten* to be doing squats with my baby bump between my knees. And hilarious. I think the dudes are both terrified and impressed. I've heard recovery should be…

This month I'm moving into third trimester! Eeep. SL-wise, it means I have to take it a bit easier. It's upsetting, because I really love feeling BAMF and upping the weights, but I get too tired too soon now, and it's more important to be careful blah blah blah. Seriously. I walk up the stairs at the train station and have…

LOVE LOVE LOVE. *giggle*

Keep at it and your muscles will build up over time. I started with pushups probably a year ago (girly push ups) and then moved to military-style push ups (though I couldn't get my arms to 90-degrees, I kept doing them). Now I can do full push ups! It just takes practice... your muscles have to build to support the…

Oh my goodness! What a cute little bump! I'm at 23 weeks, and mine is also 2-3 times bigger (the joys of a short torso, I suppose). ;)

I got mine for Christmas, and it's been clipped to my bra every day since then. I sync it with MFP, so I'll input any activity at the gym in manually here (and it considers that information so as to not credit me twice for the activity and provide a more accurate picture). I love it. I like working towards the goal steps…

PB on celery is also delicious, and PB or almond butter on apple slices. I keep my snacks as real food that I like to eat (some people love rice cakes; I am not one of those people). Small containers or ziplock baggies are awesome in that you can ration out snacks that are quick to grab when you want something (I do this…

It's not just you! Love it!

- I'm just over 22 weeks now (first pregnancy). - I'm wearing around my fitbit, aiming for 10,000 steps a day. Though I just got back from vacation in Barcelona, where that number was usually closer to 25,000/day (which made me feel better about missing the gym and eating ALL OF THE PASTRY FOR BREAKFAST). Now, I'm back to…

Well done, lady! Crossing my fingers for you that babe will come soon. Good luck!

Thanks Vegas! I think this was posted in the pregnancy group, so I responded (at length) there.

You sound a lot like me. I had started lifting a while before I found out I was pregnant, and I've continued during my pregnancy (I'm at 20 weeks now). I've been working with a trainer a couple days a week, which helps me ensure my form is good and I'm not doing anything that might impact the baby. She's awesome. I do…

THIS. Beauty is in working hard to reach your dreams and being confident in who you are. It's about both Christmas' physical and mental strength and her determination to succeed in a field dominated by men, because damn it that's what she loves to do. She is beautiful; however, the fact that she is beautiful doesn't make…

Maybe you need to adjust your eating? I know you're a tiny person, but maybe it's something to talk to someone smarter than I about. When I started SL, I increased from about 1500 calories/day to 1800-2000, and I've noticed a difference. My metabolism has been shocked into working again. Maybe some days where you take in…

Last night's workout (not counting warm up lifts): Squats: 120 5X5 OHP: 55 5X5 Dead lifts: 135 1X5 Like Vegas, I've had some disappointment at the scale. My weight really hasn't moved in the past year. However, even in the past three weeks, I'm down 4 cms in my shoulders, 4 cms in my upper abdomen, 4 cms around my right…

I'm 19 weeks. Still working out about 5 days a week. Two of those days are with a trainer to keep me from getting bored out of my mind/to be a check to make sure that I'm doing things that are safe for me/baby. The other three I do weightlifting (stronglifts) and/or cardio (elliptical/arc trainer). Did a body composition…

I agree with what Vegas said about needing more calories. Before I started lifting often, I'd aim for 1400-1500, and now I'm up around 2000-2100, and my body is definitely tightening. See what works for you, but don't write off the possibility of your body needing more fuel for the hard work that it's doing.

You, lady, are my inspiration! I'm 18 weeks right now, and continuing to lift (somewhat) heavy. I'm still using the oly bar, and my lifts are still comfortable (just weird to see my belly in the mirror when I squat). Incline bench is a great idea for modified bench press -- I've been wondering how to still keep that up…

Second workout B last night: Squats 110 5X5 OHP: 50 5X5 DLs: 105 1X5 I focused on warm ups, as per reading here and from Mehdi. I had a great workout! I was tired after, but today I feel awesome.

I'm proud of you! I took a break from heavy lifting for a while to get back to form and ensure that my squats were nice and low and I was actually using my legs for my DLs (I'm very flexible and have a strong back -- I found that I used that to break form often when things got heavy). I totally understand the let down of…

I'm about 18 weeks (due July 17), and we won't find out the sex either for the same reasons as you list. Also, I've heard from three people in the last few weeks who were told the sex... and then were surprised when baby came and wasn't the sex they were told! Since it doesn't matter either way, we're going to opt for…

I'd say this is a pretty good indication that you're relying on your back when you're setting it down. Maybe put on some lighter weights and just practice your form a bit... you should be using your legs to set down the bar just as you do to lift it up. Maybe ask a trainer or someone at the gym to watch your form and give…
