excellent suggestions, thanks guys!

I'm able to resist potato chips recently (though they were a big cause of my original weight gain), what I find myself still missing is chips and salsa. I know salsa is still healthy if you buy it fresh (packaged salsa contains about a billion milligrams of sodium) but I haven't been able to find something tasty to eat the…

If you hit update diet/fitness profile in the settings tab, it will adjust your calorie goals to your new weight/BMR/TDEE etc.

The Answer is 22, I snooped at her other forum posts. I would have guessed 30.

Umm.. the site is like 75% women. The whole message board is a women's board  If all the women left the main board, there'd be no one left  I'd miss y'all

I'm not a computer wiz at all or anything, and I realize that mods don't have the time to inbox everyone every time they delete a thread, but would be nice if there was some sort of automatic way for them to message everyone on a thread with a brief (like one sentence) explanation of why a thread got deleted. I was…

LOL, sorry no interest in getting fired. The job market not looking so hot right now.

Hahaha yes. Try reading the comments on the NYPost.com and similar such websites to get a feel for what real trolls are.

totally. The hardest for me is the plank position stuff. I just cannot keep most of that stuff going without doing the modified version. The one where you're in plank position leaning on your weights is impossible! My hand bones refuse to allow such treatment.

Congrats all!

traitor! I swear its almost as if the War of 1812 didn't even happen. Sheesh

hahaha you totally have us there. The worst is the fact that there are 16 ounces in a pound, but only 8 fluid ounces in a cup, I mean wth, right?

Sorry, I'm just now seeing your post, here's the article Im referring to. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/43298247/ns/health-diet_and_nutrition/t/yo-yo-dieting-better-staying-obese/ Intuitively I think it makes sense though. Yes yo-yo dieting can mess with your metabolism, but being obese significantly increases your risks for…

Its kind of hard for me to reply to you since you have cited no objective evidence or logic in support of your point that anything less than 1800 calories is "semi-starvation." Good luck with your snail's pace weight loss plan, I hope it will work for you. As for me, I will continue to abide by the majority of medical…

I think this overstates the calories that are considered "too low." I have a sedentary job and basically burn around 2300 calories a day. If I ate only 1800 calories as this post erroneously suggests, I would have about a 500 calorie deficit which would result in 1 lb loss a week. Almost all advice I've seen suggests that…

also, you sound like you're in a lot better shape than me, but i couldn't imagine using 10 lb dumb bells. I use 5 lb weights and even that kicks my *kitten* most times.

I'm a guy and I've lost 6 pounds or so the first 20 days of it so I definitely find it helpful. My wife (who also is doing the 30DS) has said I look a lot slimmer. The only downside is its kinda embarrassing when Jillian spurs you on by referring to jeans shopping or bathing suit shopping.
-
obviously its not perfect, but I think the best approximation without a heart monitor would be to enter in "circuit training" and then for however minutes the video is (40?)
-
Thanks! I'll try this. Hopefully it will work. My wife and I are doing the 30DS and have two little kids, so our time is at a really premium and we need to sneak in these workouts when kids are asleep and unfussy.

my sense from reading your food diary is you need to get a whole lot more disciplined about logging the actual amount of food you are eating, there are a ton of days where you don't have complete and accurate food diaries. Probably if you did that, I suspect the problem is that some days you eat too little and thus don't…

I got mine at target, but you could also get some of the levels on Comcast On Demand for free. Question for people: is there a way to skip to the exercises? I keep having to wait for the copy warning and various other warnings (like 4-5 mins) to scroll through before I can finally begin the workout. Does everyone have this…

Yeah, I've lost 30 pounds and the only one who's said anything is the receptionist (my wife doesn't even say anything unless I go fishing for compliments). This may be more because the people I work with (except the receptionist) are a-holes though.

we heat him up his own meals, usually like ravioli or pizza or something. He won't eat salads either, but those other meals are really not hard to make.

Congratulations!!! I weighed myself today and am at 200, sooooo close :) I'm hoping I can join you shortly.

great story and congratulations!!

studies show that yo-yo dieters are more healthy than obese people, so even if we gain it back, its still healthier than not trying to lose it at all.
-
True but studies show its a good strategy to make sure you don't slip. So it does drive me bonkers, but I feel like if I didn't do it, I'd probably start eating worse. As for the morning weight being the same, you weighed yourself right after a workout when you were dehydrated and artificially low. You probably gained some…

Congratulations! You look much younger now.

try reading the 12 articles listed under the beginner's guide, appearing here: http://www.footballguys.com/06articles.htm That should basically teach you everything you need to know to be on equal footing with everyone else

So you have never tasted meat? Wow. You have no idea the deliciousness you have missed out on. I actually know a lot of chunky vegetarians, I think its easy to be chunky b/c you tend to eat more starches and cheeses which are fattening without being filling in the same way as eating meat would.
