Ok, OP. I challenge you to show me where anybody said that nobody has had success on 1200 calories a day.

ITT: 90% unnecessary tactics.

I agree with Cr01502. You say that you want to have a discussion but then you refuse to check out sources or provide any of your own, then you proceed to say anyone who disagrees with you is idiotic and fails to understand logic. I'm not weighing in on either side of the debate, I'm just pointing out how bad you look here.

To quote an earlier thread...That is not a normal breakfast!! Maybe if you're a linebacker!!! You must be one of those ectomorphs!! I know my body!!
-
Just something amusing to add to the discussion. Today I was waiting for my wife who was in the Ladies' room, and another woman went in then came right out and told her friend it was too packed and asked if there was a men's room. Then she found one and used it. If a man had done that he'd have gotten punched!

Did he mean that to be a bad thing?

I like the part on avoiding the pitfalls of advertising. Being educated is probably the best thing we can do and I think that includes knowing that things like the practices mentioned in the OP are known.

It makes me feel really uneasy to think about food companies trying to manipulate us on a biological level like that, but manipulation like that is inescapable and not limited to the food industry. I personally don't think it's really any different than trying to get people addicted to cigarettes. I do think the individual…

The article specifically says they have three children already, and that they wanted a fourth. I also didn't see anywhere it said that their three children are disabled or special needs. They were all born prematurely and two still have medical issued because of premature birth. They decided to go with a surrogate to avoid…

I agree with this 100%. She signed a contract, so she should have to stick with it or deal with the consequences. And the whole thing is made even stranger that the surrogate claimed abortion was against her religious beliefs, therefore she would need $15,000 to have the abortion. If it's against your beliefs, then why…

That's an interesting way of thinking about it. At this point everyone knows. The next school would likely deal with the same complaints as the first one. So I guess the legal system is the only choice besides homeschooling.

According to this article, the parents didn't allow her to start identifying as a girl at school until halfway through kindergarten. So it was too late for that. Before they allowed it, they tried to convince her to be a boy. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/02/27/coy-mathis-colorado-trans_n_2776472.html

I added 1 tablespoon of ground cinnamon and half a cup of raisins to the original recipe. This is by far the best one I've made. The raisins could be left out too because the cinnamon cheesecake was the star here. I hope nobody's offended that I already started eating it.

I wasn't aware that any of the types of sugar-free foods you listed contained sugar alcohols in the first place. I've mainly seen them in protein bars.

I would say that it is possible. I would also say a genetic component is possible, or a combination of the two. Agreed, only time will tell. I would hope that they would support him/her if that was she wanted. I think the child being happy is more important than trying to force an identity on her. That applies to the…

There was no assumption. It was a question. I'm trying to understand where you are coming from. I'm not a mental health specialist either, but I think it's more reasonable to defer to their judgment (that of the field in general) that these disorders do exist. Gender disorders are included in the DSM. I don't think it's…

I understand that doctors are people and make mistakes just like anybody else. The question is about the existence of these disorders. If some of the people here (like you and lour441) believe that these disorders exist at all.
-
Sorry, I'm referring to the larger picture, with doctors in general. Do you think that any psychologist or physician that says these disorders exist and can present in a child are wrong?
-
Do you think the doctors can tell?
-
In your mind it doesn't, in others' it does. To people who don't think about this kind of thing on a regular basis, sexuality is tied to what's between your legs. Those people need to be educated. My problem (more of a question, really) is, is it in the best interest of the child to throw the spotlight on her like this?
-
Just because someone disagrees, it doesn't mean they don't get it. You're right, we need to keep moving forward. But we don't even have all of this stuff figured out for adults yet (see TheRoadDog's sauna comment), much less children. It may seem silly to some, but it's a legitimate concern to others. It's great that…

I think I agree with you. I think it's great that the family, school, child, and her friends are all so accepting. But some people are going to be upset and not all families should be forced to deal with something so uncomfortable to them (at least at this point in our society). Hopefully things will be easier in the…

So you think the parents singled out one triplet and decided "he will be a girl?"

Here's a link to an article about this situation: http://www.nydailynews.com/life-style/health/parents-school-fight-transgender-child-bathroom-article-1.1275726 I don't know exactly where I stand on whether or not the child should be allowed to use the girls' restroom. My problem is attacking the parents and doctors. By…

If you want a guy that pays, then don't stay with him. He has an equal right to want a girl to go dutch. There is no rule.

It's the diet soda.

I mean this in a very sincere way. You sound like you could use therapy.

It was such a relief to not have people bugging me.
