I found that I'm more comfortable slowing my pace a bit and running the whole time. When I take walk breaks my muscles tend to stiffen up.

V8 Juice (Original) contains 640mg for only 70 calories. (Yes, I know it's high is sodium and I don't care.) The low sodium version contains even more potassium and much less sodium but doesn't taste very good.

Tanita. Look for reviews.

http://www.active.com/fitness/articles/5-elements-of-chi-running I would also suggest shortening your stride. Keep your feet under you at all times.

Try finding your average heart rate and plug the numbers in to this site. http://www.shapesense.com/fitness-exercise/calculators/heart-rate-based-calorie-burn-calculator.aspx

Soy sauce tastes good on broccoli. Just eat them anyway they grow on you. I never liked broccoli but after forcing myself to eat it I kind of like it now.

Ran 12 miles for 2008 calories.

Cytosport or Muscle Milk from Costco. I think Sams and Walmart carry them, too. They don't taste bad but my expectations are low. I drink them for the protein, not the flavor. I add a tablespoon of Flax meal to make them a little more filling and get some Omega 3. You can add other healthy things like Blackstrap molasses…

I've completely eliminated carbs, fat and protein. Other than that I don't believe in depriving myself.

Every day, but only Friday counts.

Sounds like you already found your answer, barefoot. Get some minimalist shoes that have no heel drop and and roomy toe box. I like Merrell Vapor Glove. They make barefoot trail shoes, too. merrell.com/US/en/vapor-glove-2/17592W.html?dwvar_17592W_color=J03916#start=1

I eat oatmeal before long runs, the mini cliff bars during. One you go over an hour or so you need about 100 calories per hour. I agree C25K is a good plan.

It's that time of year. The days are getting shorter. Try to get some sunlight.

Some of the people here imagine that they're being bullied in the forums just because someone dared to disagree with them. I bet lots of folks imagine that they're being ridiculed at the gym, too. Maybe it's "obesity induced paranoia" . :)

Yep, but take it easy. It takes a while to get used to but it's worth it.

Yep.

Run at least 4 times per week. Mix it up. Some intervals, some slower runs and only 1 race pace run per week. You might also throw in a 4 or 5 mile run every now and then to build endurance then the 5K will seem short.

Don't buy the Walmart bike. Check Craigslist for a used "bike store" brand. The cheap ones really are more trouble than they're worth. When you find a used one then Google the brand to see what people are saying.

I injured my SCOTUS one time riding a bicycle.

12 oz V8 juice contains 640mg and only 70 calories.

Make sure you're adequately fueled. To few calories before the run will cause you to run out of energy. Refuel during longer runs. I've try to get 60 to 100 calories an hour during my long runs. I carry apple slices and sometimes have diluted orange juice in my water bottles. Make sure you're getting enough potassium.…

See!?!?!

I learned that people ask questions then when they don't like the answer they accuse others of being mean. It's just like politics. If you don't like what someone says you call them a racist.

Go with MFP. For me it tends to be pretty close to the calories burned based on HR calculations. The machines usually don't ask you your weight or age and that makes a big difference. If you're just wanting the lowest number then subtract 127 from whatever value you want. :-)

I live in the real world and sometimes <gasp> I eat at the same restaurants that my friends do. What a bunch of food snobs... :-(

Fresco tacos. I think they're 130 calories each and they're kinda nice for a change.
-
Ditto on V8 Juice. 640mg in a 12 oz can. Potatoes & OJ have a lot too.
-
1 tbsp of Brer Rabbit Blackstrap Molasses. Doesn't taste that great but it's full of electrolytes including a nice dose of potassium.

I only have problems with the cold air in my lungs when I'm going over pace You shouldn't be breathing too hard when you're running. Try slowing down a bit.
