my trainer recommends 1300- 1500 cal for weight loss and 1500-1700 maint. calories along with 3 hard 30 min weight routines per week. I went from about 138 to 118 and I'm 5 ft 3. it worked really well for me!

175 lost! what a role model you are! My high school son started weight-training with his team in 9th grade and its made a big difference. they dont do crazy heavy weights. its important he does the form correctly so maybe get someone to help him with the routine

i like the rolled oats or steel cut oats too - plus you can cook a batch on the weekend and heat it up with a little extra water during the week so its just as fast as instant!

I thought maybe I'd do better on Passover since no pasta and bread (and rice if you are strict) so lots of fruit, salads and grilled veggies, chicken/fish (tofu or whatever you grill) forget those macroons and candies...
