Today is my last day of week 1 of Alpha. Looking forward to week 2. I took before pictures to watch my progress. Super excited to see what I can do in 14 weeks with Alpha, Beta, Gamma, then maybe Gamma Hybrid? Good luck to everyone looking forward to hearing success stories to help us all.

Losing is hard and for me it personally sucks, but I know maintaining is great and easy and really not that limiting, especially if you find something that you enjoy doing for exercise. I hate counting calories and I hate not cheating as much as I would like. But it is motivating to me because I know if I am strict now, I…

Agreed weight lifting can change your body completely. Take measurements, pictures, buy a body fat reader. These are such better ways to track progress then the scale. And lift heavy. Awesome job.

I have been doing research on this myself, and I have found, and have been told by my helpful MFP community that a balance of both cardio and heavy lifting is a must. But I really want to note your calories are too low. Do some reading on TDEE and BMR you might want to bring your calorie range up to your TDEE - 10 or 20% -…

Hi, you got great advice so far and I just wanted to add my thoughts, never hurts to have more information. While no can tell you exactly what cause the scale to stop moving, the advice below has been good suggestions of things to note from week to week, maybe go back and see what your sodium was when you lost the first…

Agreed, your IT band would have your knees hurting more then your butt. A Foam roll is a great way to go, I would also ask your doctor, my knees make the most horrible noise when I bend down or walk up the stairs, my doctor sent me to a physical therapist and she said it was my IT band pulling my knee cap off line, nothing…

Check out Fitness Blender on YouTube tons of free HIIT videos all different lengths of times, you can squeeze a workout in no matter how much time you have.

I have been doing 5/3/1/ - Big But Boring and I like it, you have assist work too with the program if you feel like you want to do a few more lifts besides your core lift for the day. Might be worth reading about. YouTube is always a good place to check form. Good Luck

Hi - Check out this blog, she post great pictures of her at the same weight but looking totally different just from lifting, It was what really introduce me to the idea of lifting heavy for women two years ago, after I say these I started New rules of Lifting for Women. Good luck -…

I go by 80% (minimum) weight lifting and 20% cardio. Steady cardio will burn calories, but it may also burn lean mass. You can burn tons of fat while getting stronger from just lifting and no cardio. It's how I cut and bulk. No steady state cardio like running. I will, once every week or two, do 10 sprints (it takes 15…

Sorry I am going to highjack your post for a minute but I think I have the same question. The first time I started heavy lifting was when I had my last 10 lbs to go and was so frustrated with my progress. I found NROL4W and loved it, I only lost about 8lbs but I cut my measurements down and lost body fat, and that is…

Thanks for the reply, I have my calories set at my TDEE - 20% - my macros - protein 30% of LBM / Fat at 35% LBM and / Carbs is the difference at 35%. I eat my workout calories back. I think I will up the time I do cardio from 20 to 30 minutes and try to add walking now that its nice, and maybe do some fast lifting on…

Agreed - I personally love New Rules of Lifting for Women I did it about 2 years ago and saw great progress, you can get the book at the library or purchase it. You can print out or download the routines to take into the weight room with you. You can watch tons of videos on YouTube to check your form. There is also a group…

I do have a question for anyone who might know the answer. When I first started lifting I was pretty much at my goal weight (149lbs wanted to be 145lbs) I happen to find lifting and loved the way it changed my body, I was so happy. I finished the NROL4W, I ran once a week for 3.1 miles and didn't really watch my calories,…

Imagine a world of no sit ups, what? But it is true with lifting heavy you build core muscle and you will soon see (if you eat right along with heavy lifting) a six pack grow. It is so hard to change the mind set of hours in the gym and 1200 calories and 100 of reps on the floor, I still leave the gym and think I didn't do…

Great job, you look incrediable

Amazing truly a great example that women do need to lift heavy, cardio is great for your health but lifting is great for your body :) I am doing 5/3/1 program right now, I am starting all over because I was not allowed to lift during my pregnancy, I now wish I would have gotten a second opinion, but it is what it is, I…

Wow you don't even look like the same person, congrats you look fabulous. I am sure you don't need a stranger telling you that, but it is so true and you should be totally proud of yourself, you look so happy in the second picture truly inspiring.

Great Job you look amazing, your face doesn't even look like the before pictures. It must feel so liberating to know you did that and no on can ever take it away from you. I was told I could not run during my pregnancy, I have just been cleared to workout again and I cant believe I would ever say this, but I missed…

That's funny :)

I agree its a touchy topic, I am always worried that I might hurt someone's feeling so I say you look great like you lost weight, not that you needed to but you look great. I mean I know personally as I am going through and have gone through before, my own weight lose journey that I loved when people told me I looked…

I usually drink one spinach or kale smoothie 5x a week (one after each workout) I add my protein powder to it. After a good heavy lifting session its a great way to get in some extra protein and fiber to help restore my muscles. I usually use one cup almond milk one cup spinach and a banana or some kind of frozen fruit. I…

Just this weekend I was talking to my mother in law about how excited I am to get back into working out (I just had a baby and have been cleared to start working out again) I was talking about how happy I was last time I used MFP to get ready for my wedding (which was July of 2012). She tells me and I quote " yeah you were…

I have been doing the first plank at 90sec but then the last two about 70sec, I find after the woodchop my arms are so tired, even if I wait the full 105 sec to do the plank, I have been just doing 30secs of push ups after the planks just to give me body an extra push since the 90sec planks have been out of reach.

I do a circuit training classes, very similar to a Jillian Michaels DVDs, usually five or six stations of some sort of cardio/body weight routine. For example, one day we might do 10 flights of stairs, then 20 burpees, 20 sit-ups, and 20 planks and then repeat 4 times. I do this Tuesday and Thursday, I lift Mon, Wed,…
