  • I'm in a wheelchair and don't have the use of my legs, so I customize my workout to just the upper body workout. You don't burn a LOT of calories but considering how much sweating I do and how much my pulse rate goes up, I think I burn off a few more than they say I do. ;) Have fun with it. ~Beth
  • I'm like teshaerwin ... I add most anything to baby spinach. Some of my favorites are mandarin oranges, chopped apples, grapes, chopped turkey or chicken breast [especially the leftovers that I have that I have previously marinated in teriyaki or sun dried tomato vinaigrette], fat free cottage cheese, ground chicken that I…

  • I love it! Your post just brought the biggest smile to my face. Keep on keepin' on!! ~Beth
  • You got it! Tomorrow marks my 3 week anniversary and I love it here! You could say I'm an MFP addict! =) I hope you like it and find as much support here as I do! Welcome! ~Beth
  • I feel that way too and I'm still struggling with it a little bit. For example, this afternoon I called my mom up and told her that I was bored and wanted to come and spend some time out on her deck since it was so nice outside. So, she came and picked me up [I'm in a wheelchair and can't drive right now]. Thing is, after…
  • Those look great! If I may, here is what I made for supper last night. It's a Southwestern spinach salad. Earlier in the week I put a few boneless, skinless chicken breasts in the crock pot with a cup of chicken broth and a package of taco seasoning mix and let it cook. By the time it was done, the chicken was tender…
  • Welcome! I hope you find this site as motivating and positive as I do. I've been here for about 2-1/2 weeks and just love it! I'm eating much healthier and feel guilty if I don't exercise even a little bit every day. I've found my "friends" to be so inspiring too. I'm glad you found us! Feel free to add me as a friend.…

  • Hi Heather ~ I know exactly how you feel because I feel like that many times too. I've lost weight and my clothes are fitting better, but it doesn't show. In fact, my mom in a nurse and the other night I went up to the hospital so I could get an accurate weight [I'm in a wheelchair and don't have any balance, so even when…
  • Now that salad looks great!! ~Beth
  • Here's a new one for you. Now, bear in mind that I wasn't really intending on making the rotini pasta with cheese [it's one of those Betty Crocker "Bowl Appetit's] but I had "Mother Hubbard Syndrome" and didn't have a side dish. But this meal was still under 500 calories all total. It is a broiled pollack fillet that has…
  • Thanks. I set a goal for myself to add an additional snack in the day. It's hard to fathom eating MORE when you're already considered obese, but if it will help I'll try ... Baby steps ... =o) ~Beth
  • Nicolerah, I didn't know how either. They walked me through and it was really easy. I just uploaded my picture to photobucket [you can get a FREE account over there]. Once you upload a picture over there it will ask if you want the "img code" as one of the options. Click yes. Then come over here and paste that code into…
  • Now that pizza is looking really good!! ~Beth
  • That's awesome! Tomorrow will mark my 2 week anniversary with MFP and I, too, love it! I am not expecting as good of results as I have had up to this point. Honestly, I kind of guessed on a starting weight ~ I know that I had gained quite a bit because my clothes were starting to fit tighter and I was looking and feeling…
  • Ok, I'm going to try this. This is a meal I made the other night. It was 505 calories total. I made broiled chicken breast that had been marinated in sun dried tomato vinaigrette [very good!!] and served it with mashed potatoes [loaded baked] and steamed mixed vegetables. Generic chicken breast, roasted, broiled or baked ~…
  • Thanks. Sounds easy enough. ~Beth
  • How do we post pics? I took one the other night to show off to my Facebook friends. It was a little more than 300 calories [it was actually 505 calories], but it sure tasted good, and it looked great!! Many people were surprised that it was only 505 calories!! Plus I had a few people say to me, "You can cook???" Hey, I'm a…
  • I really wish a pool was an option here. Eight years ago when I first developed this neuropathy and ended up in the chair, I was in an inpatient rehab program and they had a pool that allowed wheelchairs to go right down into the pool [of course I had to transfer from mine into one of the special chairs that could go into…
  • Feel free to add me too! Other than the "exercise comes easy to me" thing, you sound just like me when I was in college! [I originally started out in pre-med too!] Good luck with your goals!! ~Beth
  • Hi Britney~ Welcome! I'm new here too ~ only been here for a week, and I have received so much support and motivation already! In fact, I put the MFP application on my BlackBerry so if I'm out of town and away from my computer or if my internet is down [it has been down twice this weekend!!] I can still enter my food and…
  • Thanks! That actually makes sense. Thing is, I never feel hungry. About 10 years ago I was really sick and we didn't know why. For almost 3 years I couldn't keep anything down. I lived on IV fluids given daily through a PICC line in my arm. I lost an enormous amount of weight, but that's not a fun way to go about doing it.…

  • Welcome brandiuntz! I just joined a week ago and totally love it! There's lot's of support here and I like the fact that when my internet has been down, I can still log my food and exercise through the app on MY BlackBerry! Nobody pressures you here ~ there's just a lot of encouragement as you work at your own pace. I wish…
  • Ouch! Hopefully you'll feel better quickly! :flowerforyou: I'm in a wheelchair and don't have the use of my lower extremities at all, so my workouts are limited to my upper body. Do you have a Wii? I work out every day with my Wii. I have Wii Sports, Wii Sport Resort, EA Active [I do the upper body workout], and you'll…
  • Since I don't have any balance, not only do I not have a scale, but getting an accurate weight is very difficult. My mom is a nurse so I asked her if she could get an initial weight using the scale at the hospital and periodic weights while I'm using MFP. Otherwise, I'm just going to go by the fact that my clothes are…
  • I'm in a wheelchair, so the Wii is my primary source for exercise. I use Wii Sport, Wii Sport Resort [my favorite!!], EA Active [I do the upper body workout and, believe me, you get a great workout with that as well just doing even the upper body stuff] AND [and you will probably laugh at this] Cooking Mama. The…
  • I like the idea of putting a little dressing in a dish. I might have to try that. Tonight I marinated a boneless skinless chicken breast half in the berry vinaigrette and another one in the sun dried tomato vinaigrette. I broiled the one that I marinated in the berry vinaigrette tonight and think that I'm going to get a…
  • When I was at the grocery store yesterday I was in the cracker aisle and found these cracker sticks. Looking at the nutrition label, it said that there were 14 of them in one serving and 8 servings in a box, so I figured I'd divide them up into Ziploc bags and make my own "100 calorie" packs [or 120 calorie packs] for…

  • Thanks! I can't even tolerate melted butter on stuff anymore ~ too greasy. My family still laughs at me, but I use Butter Buds in place of melted butter. No fat and very few calories [5 calories, I believe]. I get physically sick when I see that commercial on TV with the girl eating a stick of butter plain. Ugghh!!…
