I'm Christine, and will be seriously venturing into trail running next spring. I will be running my first 50 mile trail run next September. I look forward to connecting with more trail runners!

Yes, I ran it this past March. It's a great course. Be prepared for rolling hills though and one massive one at 27K. We had a great day, 9 degrees and sunny. The two years before this past one it rained. The weather this past year made the race an awesome experience. It was the first time I ran that distance. I trained to…

I just finished my first marathon in October. Next up is Around the Bay in March, 30K and then training for another full and a 50 miler next September.

I layer. I have a short sleeved Under Armor compression shirt on, then a long sleeve Under Armor "cold gear" shirt, with a long sleeve cotton over that and my running jacket. Bottoms, last year I wore a base layer poly pant under my running pants with a wind pant overtop. This year I invested in a pair of Brookes thermal…

My friend Clay uses them every winter. I will be buying some for this year.

Good for you!! Yes, it does begin at 40. I started running at 40 and have had similar situations in my life. I can honestly say that the past year and a half have been my best so far. I'm focusing on me for a change, and loving it!! Keep up the great work!!

Sounds like a great mix, thanks for sharing!

Thanks for the responses! I think I'll take on the classis then. I'll take a better look at doubles too on my lunch. I appreciate your help!

I gained 65 pounds with both my babies and I lost it both times by working my butt off. Eat less, move more. There are no easy ways to get results. It's hard work. Fads come and go, most don't work so they go quickly.

What he said, and yes, it sucks that it works this way. I've been noticing with my training....

I run in the rain. Surprisingly, I don't melt.... :) Running in the rain is actually awesome! Just wear your rain gear and a ball cap, and don't step on the frogs..... You have to train in everything so that you are ready for anything on race day.

I just ran my first marathon this past Sunday. I used John Stanton's 18 week training plan and it was awesome. The training plan I used (altered a bit for races), and my race experiences can all be found in my blog. I recommend John's book to everyone. The link to it is in my June blog at the top of my Training plan. Go…

YES! This for sure. Extra "points" for dishes and cleaning too. ;) LOL!

I've been following John Stanton's running plan for my first marathon. I'm in the last couple days of training. My marathon is this Sunday. It's a great resource book. He's the owner of the Running Room in Canada but I'm pretty sure the book is available everywhere. Here's a link for you.…

Thank you!!

I am in the last few days of my training. My marathon is this coming Sunday.

I ran a 26K trail race in the Haliburton forest in September and came across some trail that was thick mud. I tried to run around it, hanging on to the trees to find my footing, and ended up falling, swinging around the tree and eventually having to let go and land in the mud. At least it was soft! LOL No one was around me…

I'm starting November 1st if you would like to join in. I have a few other friends that are thinking about it too.
-
Awesome! That's a great result. I'm starting it on November 1st. I need to build my strength this winter. I'm not familiar with the forums much so I'm not sure how you can put a picture in here. I use photobucket for my blog.....

I'm running my first marathon in 10 days and will be doing a 50 mile next September. Ludgerclay is my friend and an ultra runner. Look him up. :)

I'm not that shy but I don't approach men. I always feel that they wouldn't be interested in me. They are always looking for the younger, fitter type and I don't live up to that anymore. I don't really go out much though either so I never get to meet anyone.

Most of the big events are raising money for charity and proceeds from the sales go to a specific charity. It will be listed on the races website. If being active and obtaining my own personal goals, enhances the lives of children, or helps in any other way, then I will gladly pay to enter. I am running my first marathon…

I run, feel free to ad me if you like. I'm running my first marathon in 2 weeks!!

I started running in March of 2010. It took me 3 months to get to 5K without stopping. I ran a half marathon that September. You can do it. Just gradually increase your long run every weekend, and make sure you don't increase your weekly mileage by more than 10% a week and you will avoid injuries. You don't have to hit…
