Perhaps try using the Food diary on here to record exactly what you are eating (the good, the bad & the ugly - all of it). It might help you see where you could make some improvements, or even if you are eating more calories than you think you are.

Welcome to MFP. Even though I joined in May, I'm still working on "getting started" - having a hard time. You will find lots of support on here. I recently realized that I don't push myself hard enough with exercise & need to be held accountable to someone else. Starting next week, I will be working with a personal…

In addition to the food journal, when you get together once or twice/week, use that time also to go walking. That way, she gets into the habit of exercising & won't feel ridiculed by classmates.

I certainly hear you!!!!! I've done that so many times, it's not funny. Currently struggling to find the motivation to exercise on a regular basis, so I can get this done once & for all. If you need friends, feel free to add me.

Welcome to this site. I've been here for a little bit, but still fighting for the motivation I need to exercise regularly. Feel free to add me if you are looking for friends.

Thanks so much for posting this article! Very interesting reading, plus it lead to a lot of other links to informative articles about good & bad food choices. Kept me busy for a while reading.

You can also try adding about 1 teaspoon of sugar-free maple syrup (works well for plain, unflavored yogurt also). Since 1/4 cup only has 30 calories in it, there is hardly any in 1 teaspoon.

I agree with you! When I turned 45, I started taking karate - Tang Soo Do, which is Korean & similar to Tae Kwan Do. My goal is to earn my black belt, which I'm working on. It wasn't until I started training that I even liked any sort of exercise at all. Tang Soo Do gave me the confidence that I can actually do this, and…

ME TOO!!!!!! I just saw the NKOTBSB concert about 3 weeks ago & loved it! Took my 15 year old daughter, who I managed to turn into a BSB fan - she loved it as well. We did have to stand the entire time though, in order to see (hmmm...a couple of extra calories burned...?) I just joined MFP about a mont ago, and finally was…

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!! That's fabulous! Keep up the good work! One of my personal goals also is to weigh less than my husband, which hasn't happened for years> Also my kids (although they're making it easier for me as each day passes...). Son is 18, 5'5" and probably weighs 205-210. Daughter is 15, 5'5" and weighs 185.

I eat Greek yogurt all the time - plain, fat-free. In addition to eating it with fruit, try adding about a teaspoon of sugar-free maple syrup. Works wonders! Log Cabin brand sugar-free syrup is 20 calories for 1/4 cup, and I haven't calculated what a teaspoon would be yet, but it's not much.

LOL - Believe me, I'm in that very same boat with you! I've always HATED exercise, with a passion; though in thinking back, a lot of that simply came from having NO self-confidence. I've spent much of my life without any emotional support, which certainly doesn't help. I NEVER expected to see myself doing something like…

Hello! I'm also in my 40's, with a lot to lose & determined to do it this time and keep it off! I also just joined the message boards. (Sent you a friend request.) Search the Forum for "adding extra calories from exercise." There are a lot of discussions already on this topic. It appears that MFP calculates your daily…

Thank you everyone for your support! I'm looking forward to being here. @ Scarlett_S - good luck with your black belt!!! Have confidence that if you're not ready and able to pass, your instructor won't let you test yet. What style are you studying? I'm studying Tang Soo Do, which is Korean & similar to Tae Kwan Do. I just…

Hi BeckyRoe! I just sent you a friend request. I've been using My Fitness Pal for a couple weeks now, although not consistently; but I just discovered the Forums yesterday. I'm 47 and determined to finally lose weight for good. My goal is to avoid the health problems that most of my relatives have. My goal for myself is to…

Hi WeightedCloud! I just sent you a friend request. My entire life has been a constant battle with eating AND exercise - probably both due to a lack of self-confidence. So we can help each other out. Even though I've been using My Fitness Pal for a couple of weeks (although not consistently), I only discovered the Forums…
