Go to a running shoe store....get some good running shoes... I ended up getting some super stability shoes, which help my joints a TON. A good running shoe store will help fit you for proper shoes. There may even be an ankle brace you can wear. Also, maybe think about doing the elliptical til you lose some of the weight.…

Amen to that! Madison, WI here!

Basically if you're dog is trained to obey commands, it should be within reason to train it to run well with you. Also the faster pace "should" help keep your dog from getting as distracted. At least it does with my younger boxer. I will just encourage you to look up dog training books or do a google search for tips on how…

I did it last year and it was a blast! Unfortunately won't be able to do it this year.

Haha, sorry, I did the reply and saw you as the most recent person....at this point I don't even know who asked the question! :)

To answer @3dogsrunning: it is Heart Rate Monitor... To OP: It is possible, but it all depends on what others have said, size, fitness level, intensity, speed, endurance, etc., etc. accuracy of tracking.. I only burn more than 1000 in one activity when I'm biking long distances or running more than an hour... I'm a big guy…

I don't have specific pics to share, but I have been biking since I was little... As some have said, (and this really goes with anything in life) you get out what you put in... I will say this, from a calorie burn standpoint and cardio output standpoint, heart rate, etc....As a general rule of thumb you have to bike almost…

I used to joke to myself when I did a lot more heavy lifting that days off are for the weak... Now I look at it as an opportunity for my body to get stronger. What I've done in the past is to make sure that I'm not overtaxing any particular muscle group. Therefore, days off from running can mean more lifting, etc. I've…

That's funny! I'm 6'4" as well, and I always feel like pants are capris, even when they are suppose to fit me!

That is awesome Brian! Keep at it. you've made awesome progress! I was shopping big and tall for a little while at my heaviest. It felt really good to be back in the "normal" sections again. I know the feeling and you should be very happy with that accomplishment!

I have two boxers, and it depends on the time of the year. When it is below freezing it's like we're out there with short sleeves, so they don't like to be out long...so it is either a couple short walks, or just letting them out the back door to do their business...occasionally running in a couple of "laps" around the…

socks and shoes...sometimes just my skeletoes.... My feet are way too big/ wide for nikes...they don't fit at all! I'll have to look up what my most recent pair of running shoes are...their model name is BEAST, thought that was appropriate....

Here are my two boxers with my 2 legged kid when he was about 9 months old

Ditto on that @bubbaduts. Thanks....Personal growth right!

It depends on my activity level... My normal amount is 80 oz plus.... If I'm doing an activity that I know I'm going to sweat out a lot (such as biking or running) I weigh myself before and after....Then I drink the amount of water in weight I've lost (a method my Triathlete uncle taught me)...plus whatever I drink while…

Thanks for the tips and advice... I'm thinking willpower might have something to do with it....unfortunately... Any tips on avoiding stress eating?

Bang....If I wasn't married to a wonderful woman already!

I workout a quite a bit....not as much as when I was in heavy triathlon training, but still a lot. I believe my biggest issue is nutrition/ eating/ etc... I need to be able to maintain a healthy weight even when I can't workout, but when I work out a lot, I'm actually able to curb my food intake better. For whatever…

I'm going with a solid 9.5 for the last three posters! I know it is just suppose to be a number but I'm going to say a line from one of my favorite movies.... She has to have that look of 90% angel, 10% devil.

I know many that have done the couch to 5k, seems like a really good program. I also would suggest you look at Joey Galloway's Run/ Walk method. That's how I started running a almost 2 years ago now. I was on a walk with my dogs, and I decided to try and run....made it about a block or two and I was exhausted. Kept at it…
