  • You're probably not eating enough. I was eating 1200 a day and not losing, and I upped my intake to 1500 and lost 3 lbs in 2 weeks. From what I've read, 1200 is a really low amount to be eating. And at 11 stone, you don't have that much to lose. So it's probably not realistic to eat 1200 calories and lose weight. Also what…

  • All it takes is a little research :) Here's something that explains how TDEE is calculated. http://www.bmi-calculator.net/bmr-calculator/harris-benedict-equation/ Edited to add: there are other equations out there. This is just one of them.
  • 1. weights first 2. New Rules of Lifting for Women. Buy it. Read it. Love it.
  • If you want to gain muscle, there are 4 essential types of exercises you need to do: Push Pull Squat Hip hinge Forget biceps curls and triceps kickbacks. Isolation movements such as those will result in a muscle imbalance. I cannot recommend New Rules strongly enough...you will learn a LOT. Push could be a barbell press.…

  • Check their online menu. Also, I bet you could get something like chicken without all the extra junk on it. Veggies instead of fries/potato.
  • Yep, I had mine set to lose 1/week at 10-15 to lose, and it had me at 1200. I've since started ignoring what it wants and put in my own goals. Upped my calories to 1500 and I lost 3 lbs in 2 weeks. The fat didn't get put on overnight; it won't get taken off overnight.
  • Ditto that. If you find it's too easy, ratchet up your next set. If you find it's too difficult, e.g. you reach failure, ratchet it back down. What sort of exercises are you doing?
  • Just have fun :) Most people don't have good rhythm the first time they go...I know I didn't! Shake yer booty!

  • Ditto on New Rules. I just started it this week. Interesting so far, and DEFINITELY an informative read. What are you lifting now? I'd be tempted to say "go heavier."
  • Jog.fm is great for song ideas...I just discovered it. Not sure I agree with their speed/bpm correlation, but it's good for remembering stuff you've forgotten. One of my faves has been A State of Trance Episode 200. It's like 2 hours long or something, and it's got some pretty good songs that help keep me motivated. I'm…
  • This. I think you look quite skinny in the pic with the blue dress. I certainly wouldn't lose anymore. Time to start building some muscle! My personal motto: eat more, squat more.
  • Hey! Dont't give up! Its a marathon not a sprint. You could try changing up your routine. Maybe you are bored. Maybe you need to try some new foods. Try anew workout. Just don't give up!
  • I would like to add to Steve's statement about less=\=better. I got tiredof doing lots of cardio amd eating at 1200 calories and feeling deprived all the time. Recently i started lifting heavy and increased my calorie intake to around 1500 a day, and have somewhat fallen off the cardio wagon (had 3 rest days in the last…
  • Ok, sounds like more meat is the answer...lol. I do have some whey protein...do y'all just put it inwater? I dont have a blender or anything...I'm at school.
  • Protein. Fat. Water. Get your carbs from veggies and fruit instead of breads and starchy things.
  • strength training, bodyrock, run up and down stairs at work :D
  • Heard great things about New Rules. Stay away from machines - your stabilizer muscles will not get the workout you need. Lift heavy, few reps per set. Contrary to popular belief, you won't bulk up.
  • Agree with both of these. You can eat store-bought stuff...just realize that the soup especially will be very high in sodium. If you drink a lot of water/don't have high BP, this may not be as much of a problem for you. But FAT and PROTEIN are your friends!
  • Great idea! Thanks for the tip!

  • Thanks for all the great info! I do realize that it was a VERY one-sided movie, and before citing it in anything I would want to do some research, but seeing the way the animals were treated, how the ag industry basically runs the FDA and USDA, and how farmers can go bankrupt trying to grow for these big companies…

  • W00t Livingston County! I work in Lansing and go to school in Dearborn...so I'm all over :)
  • You could try plank/other yoga exercises. Also you can do rotations (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0EWgIu1dP1w) , and if you have anything you can hold in your hands (dumbbells, milk jugs, etc) or even a bar... you can use those for this exercise - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dmax8JxXXbc Also pallof (palloff?) presses.…
  • This is about where I'm at - 10-15 lbs. There is so much information..kinda overwhelming :/
  • Oh. Ahahaha. Of course. Me = dumb.
  • A couple tbsp of peanut butter :)
