If you're on Facebook look up my friend's page, Surviving and Thriving on Pennies. She feeds her family of 4 a mostly organic diet for about $50/week. Some of the ideas she uses are difficult if you aren't a stay at home mom but, many of them work for anyone.

220-27(your age)=193. Go with that. I don't think it will affect your calorie count to adjust it but, it will affect if it's showing you being in your target zone and when the alarms go off.

In that price range, I'd recommend a Polar. I tried both a Timex and a Sportsline and they both worked fine but, only lasted a year(ish). The Polar I have has worked great for many years!

I have PCOS and have great success eating Paleo. It is low glycemic, since it is grain, starch and dairy free.

Propel and Crystal Light are sweetened with the same thing as diet soda.

That's about the difference I've always seen between the machine and my HRMs (I have both Garmin 405 and Polar F7).

My sister has the same problems. She rolls her foot on a golf ball once a day. Then she also freezes water in dixie cups and rolls her foot on them after exercising.

Great Start! Just a warning - Usually when you start a new lifestyle plan or diet the loss at the beginning is big and fast. Part of the reason for this is water weight. Don't get frustrated when your weight loss slows down to 1 or so pounds per week. You can do this! Good luck on your journey.

There are a few websites that claim Polar is among the most reliable and accurate. Off the top of my head I can't remember them though. Accuracy is somewhat based on the model though. The ones that factor VO2max are more accurate than those that do not.

You would probably lose weight at 1200 calories a day, though possibly slowly, if you were eating more nutrient rich food and less sodium enriched processed food. I understand budgets are tight but there are ways to eat healthily.

yea bby (yeah baby) license plate on my street bike.

My doctor and nutritionist both said I need to be on a 1050-1125 cal/day. This was set on the fact that I'm quite short (4'11"). I've chosen to keep my diary private because I had so many people on me for having a lower goal. I think that the 1200 is a general rule. There are always outliers but, those decisions should be…

Currently doing a Paleo Challenge so I'm grain, dairy and starch free. The extra energy is great. I'm also sleeping better. If I didn't love rice and potatoes so much I'd live Paleo all the time. However, I do a few challenges a year.

Size does influence calorie burning but, I'd be suspicious of the 3200 number for 90 minutes exercise. That's over 30 calories a minute. Do you wear a heart rate monitor?

These are great!

I just add fruit to my water and let it sit overnight (but drink within a couple days). Try, strawberries, oranges, lemon, lime, peach, cucumber. Also crystal light has a PURE version that doesn't contain aspartame. I tried the grape. I'm not a fan of it. There's still a lot of food coloring and chemicals in it but, no…

I am good at maintaining weight when eating a clean low calorie diet. I lose weight when I cut out grains and dairy. Because of this I do a few Paleo Challenges a year to lose weight. I can't live Paleo full time because I love rice and potatoes. Currently I'm on day 14 of a 50 day challenge and have lost 5 pounds…

It's difficult to give advice that will help when your diary is hidden and without a better description of what exercise is to you. How many calories are you eating? How much protein? Sodium? Water? Sugar?????

I was diagnosed at 12. On an ordinary low-calorie, clean diet I am able to maintain weight loss but, lose very little. However, while following the Paleo (Primal, caveman...) diet the weight comes off much quicker. Since it isn't a lifestyle I can follow all the time I do a few 45(ish) challenges a year. Then the rest of…

I'm currently on day 12 of a 50 day challenge. I've done a few Paleo Challenges. It is easier to do as a challenge for me because I know it isn't something I can live with forever. I can stick to it completely for a designated amount of time. While on Paleo I feel great mostly because I'm eating a lot of protein, fiber and…

It all depends on your weight and fitness level. I burn about 400 in an hour.

If you were to actually gain a pound over the weekend you'd have to eat about 3500 calories above your maintenance goal. Like many others have said it's probably water retention. Drink extra water for a couple days and you'll be okay.

If you're on Facebook check out Surviving and Thriving on Pennies. A friend of mine feeds her family of 6 a mostly organic diet on $50/week and blogs/posts about it. This means she often stretches meat. I'm not good at it but, I marvel at her ability on a regular basis.

Add a slice of fruit - orange, lime, lemon, strawberry, cucumber....

1200 is difficult when you eat foods that are high calorie or high sugar. If you are eating fiber rich and high protein foods primarily it 1200 is hard to get to.
-
We roast everything; broccoli, cauliflower, asparagus, brussel sprouts , parsnips, carrots, potatoes, green beans..... Cut to bite size-ish (except, asparagus and green beans). Toss with a little olive oil, sea (or kosher) salt and pepper. Spread on a cookie sheet and put in oven for 25 minutes (except asparagus and green…

If you're hungry at 1200 calories look at what you're eating. If you focus on fiber rich (produce) and protein you'll find 1200 is plenty. Grains and starches are great but burn off and leave you wanting more. Eat them in moderation.

It is good for a lot of things. Beyond stomach/digestion issues it is also good for inflammation and arthritis. You need to use unfiltered apple cider vinegar though to get results. It isn't as readily available as the standard. Also, most people only take a couple tablespoons a day.

If you are going to have it drink EXTRA water. This will help flush the sodium. For your health's sake I'm hoping you go for the nitrate free stuff......Just sayin'.
