I didn't say that. Someone else did. All I said was it's not hard to verify that your HRM is accurate when you asked the question. I don’t use “machines” so someone else will have to speak to their accuracy.
-
It’s not that hard to check the accuracy. A finger to your neck for 15 seconds times 4 will tell you how close the HRM is…. That was the first thing I did to know I could rely on my HRM.
-
How far into the program are you? When I started my HRM read 180-190 bpm constantly. I tired out easy and I found it hard to keep my pace of 10 mins per mile. The closer I got to completing it and the more conditioned I became the lower my heart rate became. My heart rate during a 5K hovers between 165-175 now and keeping…

I've been obsessed with bison for about 6 years now. In the midwest it's not hard to get, but it's still very pricy so it's more of a special occasion meat for me. I wish I could use it exclusively.

I was a very active child and teenager. 110 pounds soaking wet until my junior year of college. It was moving off campus that did me in. Rather than my 5 mile walks while living on campus I parked as close to my building as possible and just stopped moving, but didn’t change my eating and drinking habits. Before I knew it,…

I too find running outside more difficult than the treadmill (the treadmill is now a joke when I have to use it since I’ve forced… yes forced myself to run outside) due to a lot of things. The treadmill helps move your feet for you, there is no incline, the treadmill is bouncy (this you’ll notice the more you run outside),…

Yep and yep. Love this thread. Run on everyone. I'm getting so antsy and can't wait to leave work in an hour to get my own run on.

This. Haha Drives my hubby nuts.

Just some food for thought, I’ve actually found the MFP goals to be exactly the same (within 20 calories for me at least) as the websites you quoted so long as you’re accurate with your activity level in MFP.
-
I personally see my calorie goal as an actually goal. A goal to meet NOT to fall short of. So I always at least eat my net calorie goal and usually a bit more (I don’t log my weight lifting calories since it’s too hard to guess, but I always eat about 100-200 more than my goal those days). Nothing annoys me more than when…

Never gotten and probably won't until I get pregnant. I also contracted H1N1 back in 2009.... it was the worst week of my life. But, still. No flu shot for me.

It’s because I HATE the taste of yolks. Simple as that otherwise I’d eat the whole thing. My dogs however love yolks…..

Love this :)

Being at a healthy BMI it takes A LONG time for me to lose any weight. I’ve been at it for years, but really committed about 6 months ago to get the weight off once and for all and work towards the body I want and not a number on the scale (I still use the scale as a tool, but I would be ok with not hitting my “goal…

I strangely love reading these. Luckily my family is super supportive, but at work I get the “hey there skinny mini” all the time and when everyone is at happy hour and orders chicken wings I don’t get offered because “she’s so skinny because she’s a vegetarian.” Last time I checked I wasn’t a vegetarian, but somehow they…

Cardio shouldn’t be for fat loss like dbmata says. It’s for cardiovascular health and an increase in stamina (PLUS it makes me feel amazing after. Endorphins anyone?) I’ll always be able to go longer and harder (no matter what the activity is) than someone who doesn’t do any cardio at all. And for those reasons, I’ll be…
-
I always split it up (because I can't fit it into my day due to my job). 3 days a week cardio 3 days a week lifting/weights. I’m not saying that’s the best, but I do know that doing it is better than not doing it at all.
-
Congrats on your loss! I started to really get into lifting about 2 months ago (though I used to do it here and there) and I’m in love. It’s crazy to see how far I’ve come in such a short period of time. I’m always looking for new friends. Feel free to add!
-
Ding ding ding. I do both for those reasons. 3 days of each and on alternating days (I just don’t have the time to combine them into one day with the demands of my job or I'd be up all night.

C4 for the same reasons other posted. I'm so tired after work (I workout in the evenings) I need that boost that it provides. And it tastes yummy too. For me, C4 is pretty long lasting so I usually take it about a half hour before I leave work and don’t actually start working out for at least an hour to an hour and a half…

Awesome everyone! My NSV of the week was last night being able to do 8 (assisted) chin ups with good form all the way down and back up! When I started I could only do 2 with horrible form and they were a struggle! Time to let out the assist a couple of inches I’m thinking

Honestly, every woman will react to different types of BC differently, but here is my experience with Yasmin. I was on Yasmin for 9 years. It’s a diuretic so while on it I never gained much weight until my diet got out of control. In fact when I first started it I was a freshmen in college and I actually lost weight rather…

Phantom (my first as a child) and a very, very close second is Book of Mormon.

I was on Yasmin which has a diuretic side effect. Most women experience weight loss on it and I did too. The bad part is that I’ve gained roughly 10 lbs just from quitting it in the last 6 months (I refuse to be on hormones). I’ve gotten it down to +7, but it’s extremely difficult to shed so close to my ideal weight. But…

This. My work outs are also running and lifting. I cycle because it's fun and I love it and many times that is my hubby and I's only time spent together each week since we're both so busy on opposite schedules. That's not exercise. It’s for the fun of pushing the pedals and discovering something new in the limited time we…

You should have said that first and just stopped right there. That is is your answer plain and simple. Now that you're finally tracking yoru weight regularly you'll see a 3-5 lb gain a week before and during your TOM. I've gained up to 7. Sucks, but it goes away.
-
Work it out lady! You didn't even need to ask.
-
I invested in a pull up assist that clips onto my bar. As I get better and can complete 8-10 pull ups at that resistance I let it out a bit more till hopefully one day I won't need it any more. As for push ups, just keep doing them! And change it up! Wide, close, diamond, military, decline, and the list goes on!

Never did because there is no way I’d do it. I have gym anxiety and if I attempt to do anything other than cardio I feel like I’m being watched and judged constantly. So I removed myself from that situation and got myself a home gym (yoga mat, free weights, pull up bar, a chair, and wall are honestly all I need to get it…

Everyone else has already done a great job at preaching to you about what you should and need to do to truly lose weight. I have a couple tips that helped me. The things that broke my bad eating habits were 1) logging ALL calories consumed in a day and 2) (the biggest thing that broke me) EXERCISE. To me nothing was worse…
