  • Different people have different personalities. I'm the kind of person that when I get wrapped up in something I will forget to eat. I lost 10 lbs in grad school because I was so busy. I used to have a high stress job so fitting it in wasn't easy and I'd get home in time to go to bed and get 5 hours sleep so I didn't make…
  • Book marking for myself. I think I've finally read all of it and thanks all for starting and contributing to this awesome thread. I've learned a lot.
  • I'm with most in that mine is small (5 lbs either way), but I won't/don't take action until I'm on average over my range for more than a week (and it's not my TOM). Everyone gets blips now and again. I mean... Chinese food? I'll gain a magical 4 lbs overnight that'll disappear after I drink some water the next day.
  • By taking advantage of the snow and cold itself! Snowboarding, ice skating outdoors, cross country skiing. All those activities to look forward to on the weekends keeps me going in the gym. Don't be afraid to bundle up and move. Even got myself some Yaktrax so there's no excuse to not run outside even in the ice and snow.
  • What's your daily intake like on WW? Do you eat a lot of fruit? A lot of veggies? My understanding is that you only get 2 servings of fruits "free". You might find if you duel tracked that you're eating more on WW than you think you are and that's why you're not losing any weight. I have found success on both plans, but…
  • I like to use the same one I used when I was trying to pass the CPA exam. "You did not fail. You simply did not pass. Failing means you've given up and giving up is NOT an option." I even have "Giving up is not an option" on my RoadID wrist band and I look down every time I feel like throwing in the towel early.
  • I drink a Diet pop every few days (drinking a cold pop right now actually) and at one point drank several of them a day. It does nothing to hinder or help the process.
  • Easiest receipe ever: 2 lbs chicken breast 1 jar of salsa (I prefer medium) Leave in slow cooker for 6-8 hours. Shred when done in the crock pot (do not drain) and eat. Great alone, great in tacos, pretty much just great. EDIT: Keeps well and makes leftovers for days too.
  • I personally don’t bother. I find it easier to do the TDEE method and just log the time of the exercise and 1 calorie. If you’re gaining or losing too quickly you just need to adjust your calories up or down accordingly.
  • Congrats!!
  • This sounds hormone related. You need to see a doctor and get your blood checked. I lost a lot of hair when I quit birth control (happens also when women give birth, go through menopause, etc.). This is a very scary and upsetting thing. I completely understand, but you won't know unless you see someone. There are a lot of…
  • I think it was NPR where I heard about a study similar to what you're talking about. Eating habits of the woman can influence the children after their born.
  • Short answer: You're eating too much. Long answer: Your body burns X number of calories a day. If you eat at that amount or more than that amount you will not lose weight. It is very importanat that you log accurately eveyrhting you eat, which can only be done by using a kitchen scale (using grams as much as possible).…
  • CPA in Financial Reporting for a well known women's clothing retailer. It's a fun business to be in and I don't sit nearly as much as you'd think for being a CPA. The hours are pretty good and getting a work out in after work is pretty easy.
  • Slow down. Period. You're clearly going too fast. I recommend practicing outside with some kind of GPS (I use Nike+ app on my phone) to track your general speed. It's off a bit, but not too much. Go for a few minutues at your normal pace just to get a baseline then add about 2 mins per mile to it. You should be able to…
  • I hear "frenching" is a good prep method.
  • I don’t have PCOS, but I know the feeling. Years of acne as a teenager that is now flaring up again after quitting BC makes me feel awful going out without it. However, I get told all the time that people are shocked to find out how much make up I do in fact wear... so at least I know I wear it well and it looks…

  • Bumping to bookmark.
  • I'm right there with you. I started out at 145, I'm now 136, and I was originally shooting for 125. I've been going at this for a long time and getting rid of those 9 lbs were hard fought. I'm set to lose .5 lbs per week, but I'd guess I'm actually at about .25 lbs per week. I'm starting to rethink my goals and researching…
  • My personal favorite is Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard. They have a lot of flavors. I'm currently in the process of finishing my cinnamon graham cracker and debating what to try next. 24g of protein per scoop and about 100-120 calories. Its a little more on the expensive side, but its high quality. Edited because I can’t…
  • Mines open, but I do a lot of recipes so it's probably not too helpful.
  • I think what they were trying to say was that they do measure out the 40g, but when it posts to their diary it shows up as 1/2 cup. That happens to me all the time. This morning I weighed out 10g of honey and 113g of yogurt and it shows up as .5 tbsp and .5 cups respectively. ETA: To the OP, it takes about 10-15 extra…
  • I’m glad you kept reading. I know a lot of these posts were harsh (mine included), but sometimes the truth is harsh. If she is the one bringing it up all you can do is talk about yourself and what works for you. Be that good example. Since you’re both adults there isn’t anything you can do, but be that example that you…
  • I would want to hear nothing from my mother and honestly if my mom ever told me I needed to lose weight I'd flip out on her. As an adult woman I am allowed to do whatever I want with my own body. I have to make my own decisions and I have to be the one to find the strength to do this myself. All you can do is be an example…
  • I will also add I saw zero physical results in the first 5 weeks of that program. Cardiovascularly I was the fittest I'd ever been, but nada on the weight or measurements front. Just stick with it and listen the rest of the good advice you're getting.
  • This. And on days I'm super hungry, I just eat up to my TDEE or my maintenance calories (like today).
  • Yes. Something about that banjo really keeps me going.
  • Let me fix that for you.... "lost one lbs :D" Any loss is great! Know that first. Second, the reason you might not be losing as much as you want as fast as you want is that you're either eating too much or you’re over estimating your exercise. Do you weigh your food? I mean ALL of your food with a food scale? If not you're…
  • There's no substitute for the real thing. My favorite is Krema. Natural chunky with no added salt. Just peanuts on the label. I'm not sure if it's widely available though as it's a local Columbus company, but I know you can order it online.
  • Eat some peanut butter? High calorie, low volume.
