Running outside, preferably at the beach. Love having that ocean breeze. I get bored on the dreadmill. Plus, for some reason, even though it is supposed to be better on your joints, it aggravates my hip. One must, however, for running, regardless of venue, is my ipod!

I am sure this pt felt your compassion...even though you did not feel this~ I am lucky that we do not have to ask weights of adults except under certain circumstances...and then we put them on a scale, or a scale bed...

Laurie- I am 5 years out and have been maintaining (actually losing now that I have been using MFP). At nine months out you are probably just plateau-ing. The weight loss will definitely be slower, but I lost weight until the 18 month mark and then I stabilized. Continue to exercise, drink your water, and eat your protein!…

As someone who is 5 years out from RnY, here is my advice. At seven months out, 1320 cals is probably too high for you. I am eating 1350 (what MFP says I should eat) -1600 per day now. Talk to your surgeon group's nutritionist. It is not uncommon to hit plateaus are various stages in the post-op journey. Make sure you are…

you look awesome! congratulations!

I prefer cranberry vodkas or white wine~

OK. So now that all of the people who have NOT had surgery have replied, I think I will tell you a little about why I had surgery. About 8 years ago, one of my close friends had surgery. At the time, I told her, "you are so brave, I could never do this". Why did I say this? Well, as an ER nurse where do you think the…

Although I realize you are further south than MC, which is the current path for landfall, if it comes in as a Cat 3 you don't need to be in Ocean Isle. Anywhere east of 95 is probably going to have significant impact~ That being said, many posters here have given you some awesome choices! I hope you stay safe!

Like many of the other posters above, go to a local studio and take a class. Most offer beginner or gentle classes where the instructors offer more instruction on the basic poses so that you can learn correct form. Anyone can do yoga...that is what I love about it. There are always modifications for poses if you cannot do…

Guess where I like to hang out and spend time off?

The very best of luck to you. I am 5 years out and maintaining. The most important thing to remember in the early post-op days is to sip, sip, sip! Also, make sure you get plenty of protein!!! Walk as soon as you are able!
-
I eat every 3-4 hours, which equates to 5-6 times a day. These are not what the general public would consider full meals, but they are balanced meals. Each of them has between 200-300 cals on average. I like eating this way, as it keeps my head hunger under control.

Maybe you're growing up <nahhh, Toby, probably not>..? Maybe she's growing up <possibly, she is engaged>? Maybe...it WAS just weird : )

When you walk by a full length mirror and think "who is that person?" because you don't recognize yourself!

Yogurt is a great protein source for me. Best of luck finding low-cal options. I am sure you will get many responses to your thread that will be helpful :)

The most bizarre thing I discovered is that I can walk past mirrors and for the longest time I did not recognize myself.

Yes to the wine~

1976. KC and the Sunshine Band! Carowinds Palladium, Charlotte, NC. I was a whole 6 years old--my aunt took me. I remember a lot of spandex and platform boots

You can do it! This site is most helpful. Put in your goals, follow the plan, aim for the calories that MFP tells you to shoot for! Make time to exercise. I have found exercise to be the key to maintenance, at least for me, being 5 years out! However, in the spring I injured myself and was not able to run for almost 4…

I am much better at 41 than I was at 21!

Bump! Cause I found this thread interesting and I don't want to have the thread-stopper post...lol~ Come on ya'll, share 20 things that make you happy!

I love Aquafina, but I buy Deer Park. It's cheaper and the bottles are made of thinner plastic.

I have maintained a loss of 120 pounds since my surgery 5 years ago. I had a creep up of almost 10 pounds this spring and knew I wanted to be back at maintenance before my 5 year post-op appointment this month. In my case, exercise seems to be the key for maintenance (I injured my hip in the spring and could not run for…

Dread mill! HAHAHAHAHHAAHAHAHA! I feel that way about it too. Welcome. This is a great site with some motivating and encouraging folks!

Agree with the above 2 posters. If you are acutely SOB with rest then you need to go be seen at an emergency department. This is not normal.

GO SHOPPING! That is an instant cure-all for grumpiness ; ) Seriously, you don't have to buy, but try on some cute things (in the smaller size you are now) and look at some clothes that you would like to have in one size smaller than you are now. INSTANT motivation!!!
