  • I think both ways of introducing more running are good! Some people love Couch 2 5K (I'm on week 3, myself!), but really you can do it on your own as well. I would certainly recommend giving C25K a good try, though. It's super effective!
  • Oh my gosh, this happens to SO many people. Myself included. Maybe weighing yourself everyday isn't healthy for you! Just get back on the wagon, get yourself healthy eating and exercising again, and wait a week to weigh in. Drink plenty of water to flush out the crap you ate today, and I bet you'll be happier with the…
  • I feel that way many times each week...I still see the overweight girl in the mirror pretty often, although I know it's just my eyes playing tricks on me...
  • Hey all!! I'm Amanda, and I started right about Christmas time, when I saw the pic of myself (it's in my pics on my profile and has my starting weight on it...eek!) I have not given everything up, but I've been better about moderation for sure! So far I've dropped about 16 lbs in just over 2 months! Feeling great!!!
  • Mexican food...sorry guys, I just love it, and I refuse to let it go. I just work it into my cals whenever I can, as maybe a twice a month treat!
  • A TON of people are doing it. Check out some of the groups for more support! And feel free to friend me. I'm on week 3 day 2 tomorrow! :)
  • Target brand Archer Farm's real fruit strips. 45 calories each, and taste like a treat! Skinny Cow Ice Cream Sandwiches (140 cals each and taste decadent) Greek Yogurt (I used the vanilla as a fruit dip and it was excellent! I've also mixed some hidden valley ranch mix into plain greek yogurt for a healthy and filling…
  • Thanks for posting this! I was wondering the SAME thing!
  • Sorry to hear your dilemma...that was ME for the longest time! I think one day it just CLICKED that I needed to do something! What has worked for me is burning enough calories at the gym to allow myself to eat some enjoyable things everyday. I substitute my prior bad choices (ben and jerry's, for example) with something…
  • My resting HR is in the high 80's-low 90's...so when I'm running, I've had it hit 190 a few times. Mostly I hang around the 150s-170s, but I feel fine in that range, not like i'm gonna pass out as some may think...
  • Hey girl! Welcome back! I have lost a decent bit already, just have that last dreaded 5-10 lbs to go! My goals are to improve my cardio fitness and endurance and to tone my abdomen, arms and legs! I added you!
  • That's awesome! I wish I could run a 5K in under 30 minutes...let alone a 4 or 5 minute mile! Geez!
  • ^^^ I felt the same way. I just did W3D1 today, and the 3 minute intervals were not bad as long as I paced myself and watched my breathing! :) I'm feeling great. I did an extra few intervals, as well!

  • Hey there! I don't PLAN cheat days. Occasionally, I have plans to go out to a favorite restaurant (Mexican is my particular vice) and I will try to eat healthy the rest of the day, get in a good burn during my workout, and then go and enjoy my meal. And I mean SAVOR it, haha! If it puts me over for the day, as long as it's…
  • I was off the pill for 6 months after my divorce (no need to be on it, and it was making me moody as heck, just like you say you are)...and man, I felt great! I dropped a few pounds without putting any effort forth and my moods improved. I wish I didn't have to be on the pill, but unfortunately I think an unplanned…
  • That is a wonderful feeling!!!! Congrats to you, my dear! You will be a beautiful bride! :)
  • I personally have never had a "BEST" friend. When I was younger, I tended to get along better with guys than girls, so I had casual girlfriends. Today, at 28, I have close female friends that I can confide in...maybe a handful of them. But we don't talk every day, or even every week. We don't do girls trips or anything. We…
  • Mine is public! My friends on here mostly have theirs as public as well. It keeps me accountable knowing that they're going to see what I ate...and they provide a lot of encouragement on my bad days. There's no shame in having some bad days! :) We are only human, after all!
  • Woo hoo!!!!! :) You look great!
  • That is AMAZING! So happy for you! May the success continue from here! :)
  • We do have a running store right near me, and it's where I went last time to get fitted. They were very helpful and it was very personalized service. They filmed me running on the treadmill and showed me the analysis. It was very interesting!! I just wish I could remember what they told me! Haha...
  • I agree that Jillian Michaels 30DS would be a good step for you! The routine you did would have KILLED me in the beginning...and probably would still be a challenge now! :) Stick with it, and you'll see a big improvement in endurance!
  • Welcome! I felt much like you do before I found MFP! This place is wonderful. So much encouragement and support. It's infectious!
  • Hi there, and welcome! Congrats on making the decision to change your life. You won't regret it! :) Congrats as well on your upcoming wedding. There are lots of groups on this site about getting fit for your wedding, I'd recommend you do a search! With determination and hard work, you can do this! Feel free to friend me if…
  • I wish I was at the halfway point! I'm just finishing Week 2 today. I'm getting there, slowly :) Good for you, making it halfway. Now, the second half...which with the endurance you've built, will probably be easier than the first half! :)
  • I'm in grad school for nursing education (an accelerated program), and work full time as an RN! Healthy living is my third full-time pursuit! Hehe :)
  • If you need to repeat week 1 for a couple weeks, no biggie! It's really hard getting started. What matters is that you stick with it! :)
  • That's an amazing accomplishment! Congrats on graduating! I just finished Week 2 Day 2 and I'm feeling really good! :)
  • I want to be a 4 when all is said and done! I can already wear a 6 in many brands, and some of them are getting a bit loose....But I really want to be a solid size 4! I'm getting there... My 8's were fitting tight back in December....so I'm happy with my loose 6's for now! hehe
