thank you for your reply! I actually own adjustable weights, which have 2.5lb increments, so that would work. I just want to start with what I have, you know? I'm tired of thinking about this and not doing much about it.

A cup measurement means using a measuring cup :) However, if grams or oz are listed too, I'd weigh the food instead. It's more precise.

I wouldn't completely disregard what the OP is saying. After all, living in an environment that doesn't support healthy living does have an impact on people. If not, how come in places considered to be food deserts (poor neighborhoods with only corner stores like 7eleven) obesity rates are higher? A lot more could be done…
