In 2011 I ran 43 marathon+ distance runs, including several ultras and a 100 miler. Also during that year I changed careers from a service manager with an industrial company to project admin with a fire pump company, finished renovations and sold my house and my mother-in law's house and moved into an apartment, and had…

^^ What he says. If it's your first Half, then you'll have a new PR, right?

I definitely have the urge on cold days, and during really long runs when I'm depleted and cooling off. But after tough runs I usually have an ice bath for about 20 minutes before turning on the WARM water. Then warm water feels hot...

3 hours: 1 hour to pack work clothes, briefcase and lunch, dress, drive to gym 90 minutes to run, work core, stretch 30 minutes to shower, groom, get in the car and head to work.

The first thing I changed to get healthy was starting to in-line skate to get some cardio work in every day. The hardest for me to change was quitting smoking. My start weight was around 205 lb. My current weight is around 195 lb. (My main goal hasn't been weight loss). The best part of my journey has been meeting…

Isn't that kind of like asking "What's the lowest fat olive oil that you've found"?

You have too much idle time, my friend. Put your shoes on and go for a run!

This thread just keeps getting better as it matures. Who would have thought that the answer to "Traveling to America - should I be concerned?" would be: "Olive Garden doesn't microwave frozen food"? Sweet!

I think maybe the 100,000 steps is a type-o. I ran for 44 hours in a race in August and it took almost 24 hours to do 100,000 steps. Anyway, check the MFP support info on FITBIT. There's a reason it uses negative calories when you're not moving around much, but I don't recall how the math works. Good job fitting in a zumba…

When I lived in Germany, I had the impression that mett was horse meat, not pork. Anyway, the press doesn't report all of the good and safe things that are available, only the dangerous and bad things. You'll hear about the three cases of tainted beef long before you'll hear anything about the 100 million people who ate…

Crazy people scare me a little. **slowly tip toeing backwards, away from this one**

Resolutionists. That's funny. But I have to admit I was one a couple of times before sticking to it. There were double the normal number of folks at our gym this morning, and I just smiled and said: "hey" just like I do with the regulars. Some of them could definitely learn some locker room etiquette though....

Getting dressed for my traditional early Christmas morning run right now, this year wearing my Santa suit for the 10 km.

Hi! I just read your post, and my first thought was that you're saying "Please be my friend, but you have to tell me why you want to be my friend." I'm not sure you're sending the message that you want people to hear. I'm a 52 year old runner who has gone from dedicated smoker and couch potato to placing 6th in my age…

Awesome! The versatility of sprouts never ceases to amaze me!

There's a company that makes Nip-Guards for this. I used to use those, or bandages, but if you sweat they will come off. Now I wear a compression shirt as a base layer and no longer chafe there. (Yup, kind of like a sports bra, I guess)

Hi, there. I gave up bread three weeks ago. Actually, anything with gluten (wheat, barley, oats). And I cut down on carbs a fair amount. The intention was to see if it affects my arthritis pain. I haven't yet noticed a reduction of arthritis pain, but almost immediately I noticed that my stomach was a lot more settled. I…

I guess I'm a trail running veteran. Done a few 100 mile trail runs, and will be doing a 48 hour trail run this weekend. I find when I'm on trails that I mostly keep my focus on the ground about 6 feet in front of me (guiding each footfall to avoid tripping or rolling an ankle) and glancing forward ever second or so in…

There was no scientific evidence that germs existed until someone actually set out to study germs. Do you know if anyone has actually scientifically studied the blood type diet. If not, then there is no confirmation OR denial, right?

OK, found it! I'm in. So, I'll take measurements this evening or tomorrow morning. Has a group been created that I should join? I know, I know, so many questions..... Now I need to create a workout plan.

I have just this one on the outside of my right calf. Got it when I was 50, after finishing my second 100 mile trail run. I'm the head of elders at my church, and I have no regrets about it.

3-4 times a week.

OK, I'm on board. I've never done one of these challenges before. Do I keep track of my miles and tell when I get to 225, or post every day? I'm a complete newb...

I push them to the side of my plate so that I'm not tempted to eat them and produce a room full of gas...

Ludger: I lived in Germany for a couple of years and my landlord misunderstood the word "Lodger" in the rental contract and thought my name was Ludger. And Clay is my first name (not Clayton or Claymore or Clarence, just Clay)

Our children had always two choices at meal time: either eat was they were served, or wait until the next meal. They now have very adventurous tatstes.
