  • Oooh, yeah, height might have something to do with that too. I'm short too!
  • My stats are quite similar to yours. I'm 5' 1.5" and 143.5 lbs (started at 186). I do 1150-1250 net calories on most days. I burn 400-600 calories per day usually, but if I have a big meal planned, I bump it up so I don't go over. On my rest day (once per week), I eat around 1300-1400 calories with no purposeful exercise.…
  • A lot of people lose weight and keep it off successfully, so it's not as tricky as it may seem! Consistently sticking to regular exercise and proper nutrition (even though there is obviously some caloric deficit) will do the job; and when that doesn't seem to be enough, there's always zig zagging, as mentioned by others.
  • I'm not quite so devoted to fitness (just dedicated! ), but I have my own things to which I am devoted. I agree that it's vital that you and your SO must share the same core values. When you are absolutely devoted to something, and your SO doesn't get it (much less share the same devotion), the lack of understanding…
  • I lost 40lbs and 8-10 pants sizes, so it's probably possible. I think it depends on things like your proportions, which areas you lose from in what order, etc. Losing a lot in your face, neck, feet and such may not result in a cloth size reduction.
  • Personally, I wouldn't do it because there's no way I can get enough protein during such a fast. Plus I haven't found any logical, scientific explanation for how and why it works the way it's supposed to work. I mean, when I think about it, I can't see how it would be more beneficial (even for a short period of time) than…
  • I'm not into piercings, but even if I were, I'd be cautious about belly button piercing! I heard it becomes ugly if your belly ever gets stretched and shrinks back (e.g. pregnancy, losing weight).
  • This. It's not a question of whether you "eat them back"... It's about finding out your maintenance net calories. The way I see it, those who are successful without eating them back simply have lower maintenance calories. If your maintenance calories are about the same as MFP's estimate, then yes, you should eat them back…
  • My mirror image looked like I weighed 170lbs back when I was 186lbs. This morning I weighed 143lbs, and in the mirror, I still see a 170lbs girl. If I look at details -- like the double chin no longer being there, or the collar bones now being visible, then I can see that I have lost weight. But my silhouette looks just as…
  • Hehe! This particular malamute is actually pretty simple (has VERY good memory, but not particularly analytical or creative). My previous malamutes were definitely super smart and cunning, however. It's what I love the most about this breed... They're smart, but more like "dumb humans" than "intelligent dogs."
  • Paranormal Activity (surprisingly good!) Jacob's Ladder (not scary per say, but creepy) Gonna check out some of the movies listed by others here!
  • WTG! :flowerforyou: Hopefully this has set a precedent, and there will be many more victories like this in the future!
  • Try bingeing on lightly steamed broccoli. I can't even eat 30 calories worth of that stuff without feeling like my stomach is going to explode! And it keeps me full for a LONG time, too. Dip them in fat free dressing if you need to. Instead of lowering your calorie goal, try to just fit your favorite treats into your…
  • I am not getting married anytime in the foreseeable future, but just wanted to say CONGRATS!!!! :flowerforyou: And best of luck with your weight loss!
  • Every morning, and I write the number on my calendar. On MFP, though, I update my weight every week or so. As others have said, whatever works for you :flowerforyou:
  • Also, I hope you'll continue eating healthy and exercising even after your prom! Life is full of exciting things, and you want to be fit and ready for ALL of them, not just the prom.
  • I lost about 40lbs in 4 months, with 20-25 more to go. 60lbs in 8 months is doable! As far as exercuse/food goes, I think the tried and true approach is the best for most of us: cardio, weight training, calorie counting and macro management. Also, less processed foods (e.g. fast food, food with preservatives, etc).
  • Oh man. Good thing we don't get snowy hurricanes! On the other hand, snow shoveling is a good workout... I'm just hoping the wind won't do too much damage. Wind knocking heavy tree branches down can do serious damage to cars and houses. Also, hopefully power outtage will either be nonexistent or brief! EDIT: I'm at…
  • My family is Asian; heck, I grew up in Korea myself until 8th grade. After I came to the U. S. though, I pretty much lived off McDonalds and Pizza Hut while DECREASING my activity level. Naturally, rapid weight gain followed. For years, my parents tried to get me to eat homemade Asian food to lose weight. I just couldn't.…
  • I knew roughly how much I weighed, and it didn't bother me before. I thought I looked okay; not terribly sexy, but not monstrous either. I didn't think being overweight by 50-60lbs was a big deal for someone my height (5' 1.5"). When I looked at photos of myself, I noticed I looked much bigger in photos than I do in the…
  • It might not have anything to do with your weight. There are all kinds of reasons that make people rude/ mean. In general, the larger a community becomes, the less close-knit and less friendly it gets.
  • It never really bothers me when skinny-ish people complain about their "fat" bodies in front of me... unless they want to get rid of their muscles to get thinner. That's unhealthy and I personally don't approve of it. But if it's the flab they want gone, I'm fine with that, no matter how small. One of my cousins sometimes…

  • I think it's because restaurants cater to the majority (they're businesses, after all), and a lot of people in the U. S. like their food salty! Asking for the sauce/ dressing on the side, as well as having the food prepared without salt, can help a lot, although they don't do it with every menu item. I generally avoid…
  • Walking is a great way to get started.
  • When I first started, I couldn't even burn 100 calories in one go! Give yourself some time, stay dedicated, and you will be burning hundreds of calories per day too!
  • That's awesome! Keep up the great work and pretty soon, those very pants are going to be too loose!
  • THIS!!
  • Sometimes the opposite happens, in which case your boobs become perkier as you lose weight. Mine were very heavy and quite saggy for my age (like hanging belly fat, except in my chest), but the hang is starting to disappear, and the girls look and feel better.
  • I don't really care what time I eat, as long as I don't fall asleep with a full stomach... it makes me sick when I wake up.
