This sums it up. Who makes these rules, really? My wife & I have beans for breakfast every day. When we first started, I thought it would be weird, but it's not. And a friend who lived in New Mexico for a while said, "Out there, some communities would think you were weird if you DIDN'T have beans for breakfast!" Funny…

Last night I made it... 701. Not only a personal best, but to the best of everyone's recollection, a new school record.

Guess what? I'm not in any way affiliated with Beachbody. I don't even use Beachbody programs. But I've seen them work for other people, and I just get really angry with the "my way is the only way" type of ignorance you seem so proud of. BTW, I'm done engaging with you on this. You are so obviously incapable of accepting…

Reread it. I never said weight-lifters are stupid. I said weight-lifters who refuse to accept that there may actually be another way to exercise than lifting weights are stupid. Look out the window of your gym. There's actually a whole, big, wide world out there.

Because you love to quote, per wiki: "A fad is any form of behavior that develops among a large population and is collectively followed with enthusiasm for some period, generally as a result of the behavior's being perceived as novel in some way. A fad is said to "catch on" when the number of people adopting it begins to…

Sorry, I was being sarcastic about the stupidity of the earlier comment about people's goals being tied to a marketing campaign. Guess I toned things down a bit too much (I tend to dial down the sarcasm when on the 'Net because I can be very obnoxious if I leave it unchecked.

Well, you can't argue with that "logic." You can laugh at it, but you can't argue with it... Remember the days before Beachbody and P90X, when nobody ever wanted to work out? Then that massive marketing campaign changed their minds? I really hate to play to stereotypes, but the "workout DVDs suck and you should just pump…

There's nothing wrong with body weight resistance training like in p90x. If p90x is supposedly a fad because it's newer than going to the gym, well, gyms only came into existence in the 1840s, so I guess that's just a fad compared to things like calisthenics, which are much older. For that matter, I practice kung fu, which…

My wife and I love it. I should point out, however, that my wife is an excellent cook and we don't just do it right out of the box. She adds and herb rub and then slow cooks it in some orange juice with mushrooms and veggies. We also like enjoy their pizza, cold cuts, and sausages (although, to be honest, Lightline…

You still haven't said anything to justify the idea the "you have to come off of those programs;" you seem to be basing your argument on something you pulled out of the air. And if someone has to start over again but does it with increased weight or reps, how is that any different from any exercise plan? You seem totally…

First of all, let me say that I'm VERY critical of Beachbody, the corporate monolith in the exercise world, and all they stand for. I think they are MUCH more interested in clever marketing and grubbing for money from their customers than they are in anyone's health and fitness. I do just fine with free videos and programs…

I'm not a fan any more. They're kind of expensive, and I found that the sweetness had me craving sweets more than usual. Also, I had some digestive issues that I think were connected the them, although I seem to be in the minority there. I prefer to add a slice of lemon, lime, or cucumber to my water ... or a cinnamon…

This could be the perfect analogy for this topic...

For the record, we were out of yogurt last weekend (I forgot that I used it all to make salad dressing earlier in the week), so I tried making the refrigerator oatmeal without it. Even without the yogurt, the chia seeds thickened it up nicely. So, if you want it thicker, toss in a tablespoon of chia seeds (and get the…

The recipe I use calls for a tsp of chia seeds, which helps it to thicken up nicely. Without the chia it is a little runny, but still tasty!

That's really cool (and yet slightly creepy at the same time...).

Today was basically a rest day. The wife & I walked the dog; 2 laps around a nearby lake for 1-1/2 miles in @ 1/2 hour.
-
And last night was 673. I really think 700 is within the realm of possibility....
-
Completed it and loved it. I still use some of the workout pieces from time to time. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

My wife & I talk while we jog, so I don't need music for that. But if I did, I always thought that I'd put "Chariots of Fire" on the list. Yeah, I watch way too many movies...

I can't believe I'm going to admit to this, but here's what I worked out to this morning, the ultimate nerd workout list: The theme song from Superman: The Motion Picture The James Bond theme song Bonnie Tyler's "Holding Out for a Hero" The theme song from Lois & Clark The theme song from Superman: The Animated Series The…

Great job! My wife and I ran our first 2 weeks ago. Before starting to live healthy and lose weight with MFP, I didn't think I'd ever consider myself a runner. Amazing what a change in attitude will do for you, isn't it?
-
Isn't that a great feeling? Good for you and congratulations!
-
Well, not really a chart; I was referring to the BMI calculator: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/tools/bmi-calculator
-
I'm still about 10 pounds away from goal, and everyone I talk to tells me the same thing: "You don't want to get TOO thin!" "You really shouldn't lose any more!" "You're thin enough!" When I went for a physical last month, I asked my doctor about it. I told him that I based my goal on the height/weight chart here on MFP,…

Haven't actually tried them yet, but I've been planning to make Alton Brown's bars for a few years: http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/alton-brown/protein-bars-recipe/index.html

My wife & I didn't meet until I was 34 and didn't get married until a year later. When the time is right, it will happen. In the meantime, what are you doing to meet someone? We met through a dating service. I've heard all the arguments about what's wrong with services, but I don't drink and hate most current music. So, I…

Just like to pop in every so often to check out this thread. I really enjoyed this program and am glad to see others finding it and enjoying it. Make sure you "friend" them on Facebook so you help put some pressure on them to make a follow-up program!

My wife & I met through a dating service called Perfect Match. Best money I ever spent.
