500 g if you search for "raw sweet potato", or 400 g if you search for "steamed sweet potato".

Lentils!

Hey Ulwaz, looking over your diary you seem like you've got a really good base for weight gain, but you really need to start eating more calorie-dense foods. Some more ideas for getting your calories up there: - Ditch the "low calorie", "sugar free" foods and trade them in for their more delicious full-fat counterparts.…

I'm 5'9.5" and my goal is 165. It might change when I get there, but I've been obese my entire life and I think it would be amazing to just be at a healthy BMI.

Legumes (lentils are my favourite--sooo easy to cook) are a great source of iron and protein and fiber. WHOLE grains (brown rice, quinoa, buckwheat, etc.) are a great source of fiber, and sometimes protein (quinoa, soba noodles, amaranth). Eat away! : )

If you want a book to read, try "Intuitive Eating" by Evelyn Tribole and Elyse Resch. It's a program that was terrifying at first to me, but has really helped curb my emotional eating habits (unless I'm prepping for an oral presentation... then all bets are off : P). Although they advise not calorie counting while doing…

Yes, legumes are quite carbohydrate-heavy. If you're going down the low-carb route (something I personally think is unnecessary and VERY difficult on a mostly-vegan diet, and possibly dangerous), you're going to want to stick with soybean protein--tofu, tempeh, edamame. And seitan, as RaspberryKeyt mentioned. Here's a good…

You can add me! I was vegan for 3 years in my late teens, which helped me lose 70+ pounds, and am vegetarian now (social pressure aarrgggh), which helped me gain 50 pounds back, but I still like to eat mostly vegan. Green smoothies are my best friends. I'm trying--trying!--to eat pretty clean right now. 5'10"/F/24 HW: 280+…

Omg I'm so proud of you! I was reading your blog, and know how hard these last few pounds have been for you. I'm so happy to see this! Congratulations! You are a stunning human being!

Oatmeal is fantastic for keeping full. Also (oven-baked, lightly oiled) homefries. Are you meeting your calorie goals, also?

If your neighbors don't have enough money to buy or adopt a dog, they don't have enough money to KEEP a dog. I just had to pay $1300 to get my dog's TOOTH removed. I pay $40 a month vet insurance and $90 a month food, not to mention routine vet care, vaccines, heartworm preventative, training classes, treats, toys ... Do…

Are you saying that science knows 100% what is in each and every vegetable and fruit, and can replicate this into an easily-digestible pill that suits every person on earth? ...Why make supplements when you can just eat food?
-
Bring a big salad, and eat mostly that--but do try some of the cake and food. ; )

I absolutely agree!

5 years ago I switched to a vegan diet, which I kept up for 3 years. I figured that I wouldn't be successful if I went only vegetarian. I lost 80 pounds in a year without trying, eating A LOT more vegetables than before but also cooking lots of vegan sweets. ...Of course, then I went on anti-depressants and gained most of…

Maybe a hyperbole? ; )

If that's you in your profile, I'd say you have a gorgeous face! And smile!

Omg I was the same way. So frickin' annoying. But yes. It goes away. Keep chugging. ; )

An apple and a coffee, even a high-calorie one, is not enough food. Skip the frappucino and replace those calories with toast, peanut butter, oatmeal, eggs, yogurt, a smoothie, granola, etc. etc., and you will feel a lot more full for longer.

I love plain oatmeal (quick oats, microwaved) with a banana, most of an apple, or pan-fried peaches with a teeny bit of butter, and then two tablespoons of chopped pecans, and cinnamon + allspice/cloves. Comes to about 350 calories. Though, yesterday I wasn't really in the mood for a hot breakfast, so I had oatmeal, half a…

In case anyone's still wondering, here's a website full of vegan bodybuilders: http://www.veganbodybuilding.com/

I definitely have experienced the water-easing-joint-pain one. When I tried to start eating healthy and exercising last year, walking maybe an hour a day, my legs hurt SO much. Constantly. I was drinking maybe two cups of water a day. This year, I'm trying my dangest to get up to eight cups of water a day, and lo and…

I have this problem when I drink green tea ... so I don't drink it very often. : P Though, I had the same problem when I started drinking eight cups of water a day, but it went away on its own. Now I pee much less.

100% this.

Listen, no one on the internet knows the whole story, but from what you've told us here I'm really worried about your relationship. It sounds like you're making excuses for his bad, immature behavior. To have your fiance cheat/threaten to cheat on you, and insult you, is NOT what you need. You need support, you need love,…

Oh, man. Squash risotto, African groundnut (peanut) stew, grilled anything (broccoli, cauliflower, zucchini, carrots, portobello mushrooms, asparagus, sweet potato), vegetarian sushi, chickpea curry, veggie wraps with hummus or greek yogurt if you can have that, chili loaded up with vegetables like zucchini and mushrooms…

I'm a barefoot ... walker, for about three years (not in the winter) in VFF. Mostly I got into them because I hate shoes, but they're fantastic. As a normally klutzy person, I definitely noticed an improvement in my balance. That said, RunningOutOfMyMind, the first time I walked for three hours in the shoes, about one week…

I follow undressedskeleton, and she's stated that the first 80 pounds or so came off in a year ... then she spent the next six months working on the last 20. Also, I think she must have a veeeeeeery light frame, because she's 5'9" at 115 pounds. She looks very thin, but to me not emaciated (some of the pictures in the…

I'm vegetarian, so (complex) carbs are very important to me. : P Yet, I lose weight.
