I don't know what my trouble is specifically with sweeteners yet (stevia) but I have a feeling it takes away that full and satisfied feeling that keto usually gives me and I go searching for snacks. I'm cutting down on those keto desserts, but it's more a mental battle than real hunger.

Congrats!

My NSV is much needed as my scale is being rude these days. :) I had to change my jeans twice this morning because my regular ones are not going to stay up. So far I had been able to wear the same size (loosely) plus one size smaller, but now I really can't wear those 12s (others I can). So that's good, right, even though…

This is a really weird one, maybe, but I usually have: 2 oz cream cheese 2 T heavy whipping cream pinch of stevia Few squirts of reddi whip Blended together and put in the freezer for a few minutes. It tastes like soft cheesecake to me. It's not super low in carbs, but it usually fits into my day if I need something…

The biggest changes I have noticed in the past 8 weeks are: Energy up -- and not reliant on caffeine, although I still drink coffee but more as a comfort than as a necessity Weight loss Tummy issues are gone Heartburn is gone

It is very hard in the beginning to start eating more fat when you're used to a low fat diet, I know! I still struggle with it at 8 weeks in. Don't cheat your body out of what it needs and hang in there!

Welcome! :)

Welcome! I made a very similar post to yours about 8 weeks ago...prediabetes, changing my diet according to doctor's recommendations, flu feelings, hungry/cravings took a while to disappear, etc. Now at about 8 weeks in, I've lost 16 pounds since starting this way of eating. I have 20ish more to go, but I'm thrilled. Folks…

Sorry... I know. It messes with our minds sometimes!
-
Oh good, this gives me hope that mine will go away too!

Roasted asparagus, sauteed zucchini, spring mix w/ a good dressing (Brianna's real french balsamic is low in carbs), riced cauliflower, sauteed mushrooms...I love veggies!
-
Hm interesting. I wasn't logging them either until I realized they had carbs...not sure why I didn't realize that before. And I would eat two a day easily for the sodium. But it didn't really slow my weight loss.

Is "keto breath" a sign? I'm thinking so since I got it after I lowered my carbs to 30-35ish and have it every afternoon (I don't notice it in the mornings for some reason).
-
I started at 50 and now do around 20-35. I don't think I have been LC long enough to really know what's best for me yet.

3 meals and usually 1 snack, sometimes less sometimes more. I don't eat huge meals though. I don't like that super full feeling.

I LOVE what you had to say here @Sunny_Bunny_ ! Very encouraging and very needed for me at the stage I'm in now. After a few weeks of losing steadily, the scale doesn't love me anymore but I continue to notice small changes in the way my clothes fit, etc. Thank you for sharing!

I could have written your post about coffee and sweeteners. I tried sugar free syrup and it wasn't for me. Now I drink it with heavy cream only. I find that I don't crave my morning joe like I did when I drank it sweet. Try it! But I agree with wabmaster...only change one thing at a time.

I do snack some days, like today. I was hungry this afternoon, I looked at what I had planned for the rest of the day and realized my fat and calories were going to be pretty low, so I had a fat bomb (I hate using that name!). I have not experienced that feeling of rarely getting hungry though, I wish I could though! I am…

Mine has been slow too. The first couple weeks I lost 7 pounds or so, then it really slowed down and then stalled. I'm not giving up...it hasn't been enough time to be too discouraged. Hang in there!
-
Oh okay. Thank you!
-
Feel free to add me too, although I am pretty new to this. Not sure if I am technically keto; my carbs range from 25-35 most days, but feel free if you want! :)

No feeding the craving won't help. I have been at it for 6 weeks now. My cravings for desserts and breads have dramatically decreased. One day though my family couldn't stop talking about this banana pudding dessert someone had brought to a party, so I tried it. Then I had some more. And then a little more. The taste the…

I agree with @KnitOrMiss. I used to give my kids an option to have something else if they don't like dinner, but it turned into a problem when my picky son chose pb&j every night instead of the dinner I prepared. So I put a stop to that too. I understand not forcing someone to eat meat if they don't want to, but since…

If you cut something out of your diet to experiment, I would do one at a time to be accurate. I have a feeling that around the TOM, it can take a couple weeks to adjust -- our bodies are so up and down. I feel puffy and bloated for a week before and all during TOM.

Wow thanks, this was very helpful.

I am curious about this too...

I thought that too and I think people who are really keeping their carbs really low are more forced to have meat and cheese. I am having veggies with most meals, 3x a day. Occasionally I have fruit but not often. Instead of crackers, breads, noodles, rice--I'm filling up on more nutritional things. I love this meat and…

Yep that's what I have right now
-
Good info thanks! And I meant to say 1g per tablespoon. No rounding down when you don't have much to work with.

Thanks for sharing that @Sunny_Bunny_ . I can relate to hiding candy in the car! I couldn't discipline myself enough until I got bad bloodwork from the doctor...it was almost like I needed to be *ordered* to change my habits by someone outside of my daily life.
