This is why Facebook is incredibly stupid.

Get some good quality shoes that fit the shape of your feet, your arches, etc. Are you exercising on hard surfaces? Try walking on grass. There are some good stretches for shin splints too. Stand close to a wall, facing it, and step against the wall with the ball of your feet, lean forward, and feel the stretch in your…

I got food poisoning once from Subway. The topping area always looks messy and unappealing. Can you pack your own lunch?

Sort of. Muscles hurt because they get torn during intense exercise. The body needs time to repair those muscles.

I take these too. I'm not sure that you can really say they increase metabolism, but they do reduce the effects of fatigue if you are deficient in either of these nutrients.
-
Have you been checked out by a doctor for metabolic syndrome, poor blood sugar control, or hypothyroidism? It might be nice to know right off the bat if you're up against any of this stuff.

I would recommend doing some type of exercise every day. Doesn't have to be anything extreme like gym time, it could just be walking, yoga, pilates, anything. I exercise daily (split it up into two shorter workouts) and I think it helps my metabolism. I lose about 2.5 lbs a week. Oh, also: When I first start trying to lose…

Buy local. Get your veggies from a CSA, or grow them yourself. When you buy locally, they haven't been shipped in semi trucks from California and they will stay fresh longer. Consequently, they will have more nutrients.

Take the long way to the bathroom? Go to one further away, and run up some steps in the meantime? Walk during your lunch break? Being chained to your desk sounds horrendous. What kind of job do you have?

Equal to the nutrients in seafood? You won't find anything. Seafood is high in good fats, vitamin D, b12, etc. There really is no perfect tradeoff for it. Why not just try to make your own recipes? There is no reason you need to use online recipes exclusively.

Same. I use a heart rate monitor. It depends on your weight and age, though. I'm 26, female, 184 lbs.

I noticed that you eat very little plant-based foods. I can eat a vegetarian meal for under 200 calories (tons of fiber) and feel full for hours. Maybe you could try snacking on some raw veggies throughout the day? They're very low in calories, and the fiber will keep you feeling full. For me, satiety is more about fiber…

I think you're supposed to give your muscles a rest when they're very sore. Don't worry, they won't be sore for long. If I were you, I'd respect my body and treat it to a nice walk or some yoga or stretching. Then when I wasn't sore anymore, I'd continue with more strenuous exercises. You won't do yourself any favors by…

This happened to me. I changed the type of cardio exercise I was doing, and that helped. I also ate slightly more (very small snacks like veggies) every 2-3 hours. I eat dinner at 6:30, exercise at 7:30, and don't eat again until breakfast. This is what helped me, but everyone is different, and unfortunately, you''ll just…

The one time I went into a Trader Joe's I got the impression that it was just upgraded junk food and upscale packaged food. What kinds of snacks are you eating from there?

I don't count fructose--sugar from fruit. Fruit has many health benefits (fiber, antioxidants, vitamin C, etc). If you're worried about sugar, maybe just watch your processed sugar? I don't eat any processed sugar; I eat 3-4 servings of fruit a day; I eat 1500ish calories a day, and I'm losing 2.5 lbs a week. Don't let…

I eat 30-40 g of fiber a day from natural foods and this seems to help me. Regular exercise is the main way to increase metabolism. I just had a discussion with my doctor about metabolic syndrome and he said regular *cardio* exercise is the way of combating it.
-
It worked for me--helped me get out of a brief plateau. I didn't increase calories drastically, though, because I was afraid I'd gain weight. I simply ate more frequently (snacking every few hours on mainly veggies), which only added about 150 calories a day. For me, it wasn't the calories so much, but frequent small…

This would lead to low blood sugar, which is not healthy.

Hi Cindy, I eat in that calorie range most of the time. I would say 1300-1500, and I exercise daily. I don't fill in my diary with the standard meal times though...I do it by food group so I can check for nutritional balance. I'm not sure if this is something you're interested in, but my diary is open to friends.

We don't buy any unhealthy food, so it's not there to tempt me. My husband snacks to get his extra calories but we have a big house and he's kind enough to me to do his snacking while I'm working out and can't see him. I'm sure your husband loves and respects you too--it sounds like you just need to come to a compromise.

I'll accept hugs from someone I don't know super well, but I am not a hug instigator.

A good yoga instructor will let you modify poses as you need to. Bad yoga instructors come over and try to force your body into the position. I'd have a chat with the yoga instructor and tell him/her your concerns and limitations.

I eat whole foods and no processed foods except for the brown rice noodles I'm guilty of eating from time to time (I eat gluten free). I'm also an organic "locavore" (I try to get most of my foods from my own community which is a great place to live in that regard). This has been the best way for me to lose weight. I lose…

I used to be addicted to pop...I drank about 5 a day as a teen. Terrible, I know. If you sincerely want to stop the caffeine, I would suggest starting by buying the mini cans and slowly weaning yourself off. Get to a point where you don't crave a can every day. For me the addiction was the fizz, not the caffeine, so I…

I have this too. I'm currently at 186 lbs at 5'8" and my highest weight was 212 lbs. Actually, a lot of people have this condition and don't know it. Feel free to add me to your friend's list!

This kills. When I taught Kindergarten, I realized I went the whole day without using the restroom! Talk about a way to set yourself up for bladder infections!
-
This is just wrong. I don't see how any employer can *make* you eat anything. If I were you, I'd find a job where I was more respected. You deserve it!

Isn't it maddening how doctors don't listen to their patients? I had endometriosis, and your symptoms sound like mine did. I would seek out a different doctor. Exploratory laparascopy was scary, but it worked for me!
-
Yes, this is true. I used to be in terrible pain and then had laparascopy for endometriosis. I'm nearly pain-free now. This is how I know that periods shouldn't be hardly painful at all. If everything is right with you and you are endometriosis-free, you shouldn't be laid up in bed or skipping out on activities you'd…
