If I eat big at dinner I skip breakfast and wait until I'm hungry around mid-day before eating. I'm often not all that hungry in the morning so I just skip breakfast and therefore have a 16 hour fast. Like @auntstephie321 indicated you don't have to eat just because it's a particular time of day. Better to wait until you…

Ingredients in MW: Current primary ingredients are water, soybean oil, vinegar, high fructose corn syrup, sugar, modified corn starch, and dried eggs. The HFCS and corn starch are made from non genetically modified maize.[7] Ingredients making up less than 2% of product include salt, mustard flour, paprika, spice, natural…

I try to stay at or below 20g carbs. My calories fluctuate anywhere from 1200-1800. I'm 48 yo male, 6' tall and currently 253lbs. I've lost 52lbs since starting this WOE on Oct 13 of last year. It's been the most successful least difficult weight loss effort of my life. I plan to eat this way permanently.

Thanks for all the great comment!. Through this discussion I think I ended up answering my own question. I eat the stuff so infrequently that it doesn't matter one way or the other. If I sometimes eat Mayo the extra 120 calories aren't going to sink me and if I sometimes have miracle whip the extra 5 carb grams aren't…

Me too!

So, no one has any thoughts on the significant caloric difference between the two? I know that on LCHF we focus mainly on the macros, but I think most also agree that calories are important too. Miracle Whip = 40 calories, 2g Carb, 4g fat Mayo = 100 Calories, 0g Carb, 10g Fat I happen to prefer (slightly) the taste of MW,…

I'm all about compromise. Why don't you pick one or the other as your special treat. Then get the bf to order the other dish on a different day and make him give you one bite just to taste. Personally, I would indulge in the pizza as you can eat one proper slice and then scavenge some fatty/yummy toppings off of another.…

There is a bunch of stuff that could work. Short ribs, chicken drumettes, pork belly. Just ask them about sugary sauces and either get them on the side or ask to leave out. The almonds sound interesting too. I generally try to avoid Asian restos due to heavy use of carbs. Another good strategy is to eat before you go and…

@Sunny_Bunny_ I am glad to hear that your daughter is improving. I feel very lucky that I have never had any real exposure to Diabetes. Reading this thread I realize now how very serious an illness it is and how blissfully ignorant I am of it.

LOL, why not? As long as you are able to have just one and it doesn't trigger cravings then go for it. You may also like to try a club soda, lots of ice, and mix in some stevia based flavor syrup. I use one called Stur. I like the fruit punch flavor. That way you can control how much you add. I use two squirts to one glass…

@Panda_Poptarts great pics! Hubba, hubba! LOL I'm at 51 LBS now and hope to lose that much again, but seeing your loss of 65 is inspirational. It feels attainable when you see others have made it. WTG!

I just recently posted about 5 Guys. Totally works to order it without a bun in a "bowl" which is just a take out container. Bacon double cheeseburger for the win! No fries BUT they usually have yummy salted peanuts in the shell. At least the do where I live. Grab some of those for a for a side dish. Mustard is a Zero…

Good for you! Every little step is one closer to good health and reaching your goals

Congrats on the rapid loss! I use the ketostix as a visual confirmation that I'm in ketosis and they seem to work ok. I register higher ketone levels when I'm very strict with my carb intake (20g or lower) and lower when I have more carbs (50g).
-
Thanks @LINIA . Its def confusing. I'm currently logging just over 40 Cals per slice and then another 115 for the grease. I will do a bit more research.

Vodka Soda with a lemon slice. Very refreshing. Zero Carbs. Relatively low Calorie, as boozy drinks go.

I don't if using EVOO in a pan but do log bacon grease. I usually cook my bacon and drain all but on tbsp of it before cooking my eggs. I just eyeball it. I will do the same with butter. Prob should with the EVOO but I just don't.
-
I generally focus mostly in the total carbs. With that said, I have been pretty extreme in my carb restriction so I don't worry too much about it. I'm often under 20g and never above 50g. I'm always registering ketones so I just keep on keeping on.

I've found that with this WOE I only need two meals per day now. Most days I skip lunch but a couple days a week I skip breakfast. Helps me in a few ways not the least of which is avoiding egg fatigue. I've also started sometimes adding 1 tbsp of peanut butter on top of my scrambled eggs to change up the flavour sometimes…

IMO, the bullion is a fine substitute and is so much less work than making your own stock. I've never had great results making stock.

We need to start up a collection so we can pay @Sunny_Bunny_ @wabmester @baconslave and a few others for all the helpful tips and insight. I had the "fog" for about a week when I first went keto. There was a day or two when I really thought I was losing it, but it eventually cleared up and went away. Hang in there and heed…

Over this past weekend I ate some carbs that I thought would effect me, but so far, so good. On Saturday I ate out at lunch with the fam. I had a bacon cheese burger and I'm pretty certain there was some "filler" in the burger that would have been carby. Unfortunately the online nutrition info for this place doesn't give…

Ive had similar concerns and started a thread that produced some good feedback. Sadly, I don't know how to find and bump that discussion. I too worry about the confusing and varied reports of how AS products might be as bad or worse than natural sweetners. I totally stopped drinking all pop back in October and now I don't…

Actually, now that you mention it I do do this. Oddly enough I can eat any and all veggies if they are in a soup. I think it's b/c the veg takes on the flavour of the broth and become very soft. I've tried a few times to make my own minestrone soup but they've been horrible flops. I seem to be soup challenged. Note to…

@doodleswithpencils sadly, I literally hate almost all vegetables and always have. I used to eat some carrots but have cut them out due to high carb content. I will occasionally have some green beans as a side nowadays. Overall this WOE has been very easy for me and fits well with my natural carnivore ways, but one does…

Thanks for those tips. I think that I am still getting used to this WOE. I've been so pleased with the weight loss that I've been a bit scared to toy with my menu. With that said, it def wasn't the apples that got me to 305lbs. LOL. So maybe I will try adding just a small amount (maybe 1/2 of an apple eaten with dinner)…

I guess I wasn't too clear in my OP. I hope to never return to my old eating habits. If I do the weight will definitely return. I expect that I will eat LCHF for the rest of my days. However, at some point I would like to add a few additional carbs (i.e. fruit and the occasional small tortilla shell). I need to do some…

My keto breath dissipated after about 6 weeks in ketosis. I keep a bottle of mouth wash in my car and will take a swish immediately prior to going into a client meeting...just in case. Good luck with the job interview.

I "cheat" all the time. I just try to make sure that it's as keto friendly as possible. For example, I play in a dart league on Monday nights. It always involves some drinking and often alcohol can be my gateway drug to food. I will order chicken wings and I know they have been "dusted" in flour. I really shouldn't eat the…
