  • Thank you for this post. I really needed to read this. I have just committed to MFP again! I lost about 25lbs 2 years ago. I was doing well and then I had a fall and sprained my back. This happened in the fall and then with the terrible winter we had, I just lost motivation and got depressed. So here I am..trying to figure…
  • Jockey Skimmies Slip Shorts! I love them! I wore them under my skirts and dresses all summer..even when we went to Disney in August! They run about $20 each but Im sure you can find a sale. And they come in a ton of colors!
  • We have all been there. I have always struggled with my weight. As for your diet...and I am saying this with kindness...you are eating junk. There is not much real food. Start buying real food. Most of your food should come from a plant or lean meat. Choose whole grains and eat those earlier in the day. Try plain basic…
  • For me..I was portion heavy..it made me really see HOW MUCH I was eating. Also I think in the busyness of life we are blinded..oh its a salad..or only 1 brownie..but we don't realize that a brownie everyday or on top of the pasta and the chips adds up. It made me take a long hard look at what i was eating..because I had…
  • I agree, you are not really eating good food. Powders and bars are great to supplement..but they should not be your "food". Can I suggest eating plain Oatmeal for breakfast with some fruit (fresh or frozen) on top and about a tsp of protein powder on it. For lunch eat your lean meat, a salad, some frest cut veggies and…
  • 1/2 Cup Oatmeal Cook in whatever you like. I use water or Almond Milk 1 tsp of protein powder Add in 1/2 cup of any fruit you like I love a small chopped apple or peach and some cinnamon-tastes like a cobbler or frozen berries are great..you don't even have to thaw them as the oats are so hot. I also like fiber 1 cereals.
  • These are so inspiring! I have been in a slump for about a month and a half..so thank you!! I have only lost 24lbs but.... I can run around with my kids and not feel tired I am not tired all the time My pants are loose to the point they fall down. I am down 1 size in pants and in tops My double chin is gone. My legs are…
  • Try buying frozen veggies and adding them to your rice, pasta meals. Also make large batches of soup like vegetable, minestrone, cabbage. These are filling and low calorie. Buy your meat on sale and try to go meatless a couple days a week.
  • Everyone is different. Some people have trouble wit carbs, others salt, others cheese..I think every body has different triggers. IF you want to eat some of your calories back: try small amounts of nuts or greek yogurt. Make a smoothie Veggies and hummus half a sandwich apple with peanut butter I find I need to eat some of…
  • Stop making excuses for why you are eating processed and junky food. If you really want to be healthier..change your habits. Buy real food..make meals from scratch..if your family doesn't like it..tell them they can make their own dinner. Also buy healthy snacks for you and your kids..I would think as a mom you would want…
  • check the magazines like Health, Shape and Women's Health..they have great easy workouts you can do with weights or just your body weight. Also an easy start is doing push ups and dips every other day. Start small..its ok..I could not do them either..but I can now! As for Cardio, walk on your treadmill...if you want to get…
  • Protein Sources Peanut Butter- add in your oatmeal, protein shakes etc.. any dairy Beans- try making black bean burritos or a veggie chili with black and red beans. I also have a great white bean guacamole recipe! Soy- tofu, edamame, veggie burgers, any morningstar farms products. Protein Powder will get the job done too.…
  • It all depends on the day. Sometimes I have a turkey sandwich on pumpernickel bread with lettuce tomato and mustard. I also have on occasion the progresso light soups, an easy low cal add on to any sandwich. Salads with leftover chicken or ground turkey. I make Veggie Chili & Cabbage Soup from scratch and freeze in…
  • I agree, make sure you are measuring everything. I work out 5 days a week and before I joined MFP O was grossly underestimating my portions. Also make sure you are eating good thinks as another poster said. For me...Carbs are something I have to limit...make sure you are not eating toast at breakfast, a sandwich at lunch…
  • Turn this stinky situation around! Use this a fresh start! Living with your parents will give you the freedom to save money, and concentrate on yourself for a while. If you use it the right way you will be happier healthier and closer with your family. Can't get to the gym...start going for walks. Invite a friend or family…
  • If she is working 2 glasses of wine into her 1200 calories..she is only eating about 900 of REAL FOOD..that is NOT GOOD. My suggestion is to cut back the wine to 3 times a week (1 glass) and see what happens. Also if she is exercising make sure she eats at least SOME of those calories back.
  • I totally disagree with this person you were talking to. For me I have tried, low carb, every diet, every pill every gimmick you can think of.. MFP is the first thing that has worked for me since before i had my kids and I exercise at least 4-5 times a week!! I didn't start losing the weight until I started keeping track…
  • Best tips are to eat water rich foods like melon, cucumber, leafy greens. Also add in some fish. Drink a lot of water. I also suggest a spa day 3 days before the wedding. Get a massage and a facial to blast out those toxins. ( I say a few days incase you get any blemishes) Also get some rest
  • I agree, you should try eating at least some of your exercise calories back. Start with half for a week or two and see what happens. Also try changing up your workout. Another thought is your carb intake. For me, when I overdo the simpler carbs like potatoes, bread and pasta, my weight goes up or I do not lose any that…
  • Welcome! I have been on here a few months and I am down 17lbs. I have about 25 more to go! The main things I noticed that helped me were limiting my cheese intake as well as my refined carb intake. I make sure I do not have bread for breakfast, lunch, dinner, etc.. I also make sure I eat lots of veggies each day..add a…
  • Make large pots of soup or chili and freeze in individual containers, then have that with a salad or sandwich. I also like to make meat in large amounts, like ground turkey or chicken. Grill it up then add rice, pasta, etc..
  • I think with this site I find I can eat what I want from time to time..but portion is a big part of that. I cannot eat pizza and cookies everyday, but I can have 1-2 cookies now and again. I can also go out to eat or have a drink or dessert. I am just making better choices and being more choosy about what I indulge in,…
  • Have a good piece of dark chocolate as someone stated. I also agree the fiber 1 brownies are very good! Another option is Healthy Choice or Weight Watchers fudgesicles. They make many flavors..I have 1 almost everyday..only 100 calories. I think Skinny Cow makes them as well as candy now.
  • Here are 3 I have...sorry no photos..but all are yum! Enjoy! Black Bean Enchilada Casserole Serves 6 1 cup (4 ounces) shredded reduced-fat Monterey Jack cheese, divided 1 cup cooked brown basmati rice or long-grain rice 1 cup fat-free sour cream 1/2 cup chopped fresh cilantro 1/3 cup chopped green onions 1 teaspoon ground…
  • Lets be clear, MFP only gives you the 1200 calorie option if you CHOOSE that you want to lose 2 lbs a week. You also get to ADD in calories if you work out. I find that if I stay around 12-1300 on days I do not work out, I still loose weight. But if I do weights and walk for an hour..you bet I am going to eat more! The…
  • if there is a grocery close by, pick up some apples and granola bars. Also go for big salads with no cheese and add lots of veggies and grilled chicken..get the dressing on the side. Just do the best you can...and try to fit in a workout if possible.
  • Make sure you log all your calories, it might take a few weeks, but you will see what and how much you are eating. Stop the dieting and focus on healthy options and portions/calories. Also make sure you are strength training a couple times a week. Drink water...if you hate water..add something to it like crystal light.…
  • I have been on here since the beginning of January and I had my first "binge" session this weekend. I had a 3 slices of pizza (should have stopped at 2) and some ice cream. This is the first time I have really been bad, and I was so worried I would gain weight..I lost a half pound! LOL I also agree that if you eat too much…
  • I measure everything! And boy was it an EYE OPENER! We bought a scale from Target I think..nothing fancy..but its amazing how skewed our portions are in this country! Especially with heaping portions at restaurants. Keep measuring..I eye ball Salad Items like lettuce and veggies now because I have done it so many times.
  • Eat 6 small meals..about every 2-3 hrs. Make sure you eat enough protein, carbs and fats. Also lift weights. Add in spices like cayenne and cinnamon to your foods.
