Party Rock Anthem...."Everyday I'm shufflin...." I just LOVE that part. It gets me moving just a little faster and "cooler". LOL! In my mind, anyway :-)

Not sure where you live, but try this: www.greenspiritliving.com I had never heard of the raw diets until I re-connected with an old friend and she is a raw food chef. We have discussed things like holidays, etc. and I was amazed how versatile the raw way of life actually is. There is no doubt in my mind that my friend is…

Isn't it interesting that not one of those beautiful bodies resemble those that we are shown in magazines. (Perhaps that is an overgeneralization, but you get the point.)

I started out by walking, then added in some jogging. Followed the Couch 2 5 K program, but overdid it and got a hip injury. So while I am thankful for the program itself as an inspiration, I think if you are over-ambitious (which I was), it can be a bit too fast moving. Post injury I went to physio, where I learned a lot…

Adventure racing is awesome - it is basically a triathalon, but of different sports. My daughter did this in high school. Her teacher was so amazing, he actually started the first High School Adventure Racing team in Canada! My daughter is tiny, tiny petite, and he never let that stop her. They rode bike, ran, and canoed.…

We have the smallest, most basic GF grill - and I think it makes chicken breasts better than any other thing I have! Daughter also has one, and loves it. Good investment - even the basic, small model.

I have to disagree - 18 pounds is a huge loss!!!! Congrats - I can see it in your face for sure!

Dear Dyna18, I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your daughter. One cannot imagine your life now. Last weekend we attended a family/friends reunion hosted by our friends who lost their only son one year ago as well. She told me how hard each day is, and similar to you, tries to get up each day and move forward. Weight…

http://www.theglobeandmail.com/life/health/new-health/health-nutrition/leslie-beck/trying-to-cut-calories-up-the-protein-first/article2131515/ Here is an interesting article today about women, proteins, and weight loss. While I am certainly no expert, and I respect 4theking as he has obviously been doing things right, I am…

Do you have a library you can go to? They are a great source of dvd's. Then you aren't tied in to one workout, you can try a different one each time! And I am sure that Just dance is a great cardio! That's all I can suggest for now - good luck, you are on the right path :-)

I don't believe that it is said to be bad for you, I believe the argument is that it has been over-fished. Similar to cod in Canada. So it is more of an ethical/moral decision. Actually Orange roughy is one of the few fish that I found I liked - probably because it doesn't taste "fishy"!

If it makes you feel any better, I have found right now that the best rate for me when jogging is a pace of 13.5 - so that is one mile in 13.5 minutes! I am pretty sure that many people walk faster than that ;-) It was only when I slowed down to that rate, however, that I could move forward on the minutes jogged. I am now…

I have no idea about how it will affect your weight loss at this point, but I believe that if you really want it (some could call this a craving), then have it. A craving can only lead to be things - over indulging comes to mind first. You may find that as time goes on you no longer crave pop in any form. I have never been…

We are on our second kindle (they don't like being stepped on....), and am happy with just the wi-fi. Once you download the book it is on the kindle, so you only need wifi when you want to purchase a book. I, too, was skeptical - but I LOVE it! One note - our library offers ebooks, but they are not compatible with the…

Hello and welcome! I'm another shorty here - 4'11 to be exact! Started at 176, goal 125. I just have my start picture on, am planning to put my first one up when I hit 15 pound loss. Good luck - I find it to be great inspiration and movitation!
-
I think it is a perfect, reasonable goal! Good luck!

I'm not a teacher, but I just wanted to jump in and say that I feel some hope for the kids reading your entries! No doubt you are all familiar with Jamie Oliver's Food revolution - and with each teacher that comes on board for healthy eating and makes a noise about the school lunch program, we give our kids a better chance…

I am sure your Mom means well, but I would worry that you are setting yourself up for some disappointment. How about if you just get on the plan - eat well, exercise, and see what happens by then! I've given up on deadlines - haven't worked for me in the past. Too much temptation to starve at the end and do silly things to…

Well, the price seems pretty good, not much negotiating room..., lol! I'm not sure what kind I have, but it has sat in my basement for a number of years. As a clothing rack. UNTIL I joined MFP, and now I have used it so many times, I'm just glad it was there! I believe we paid around $700 for it. I say go for it!

I don't think so either. Too many variables in there, and honestly, no day is going to be exactly like today :-) But I do think it is a nice little tool to give you some hope where you could be in the not too distant future.
-
Congrats! That is just awesome :-)

If your muscles are just sore - I would suggest getting back out on schedule and trying it again. It doesn't take long before those feelings are gone, but definitely at the beginning you are going to hurt! Now if it is pain - as in obvious hurt, tear, shartp pain, something other than an ache or soreness, I would rest it.…

One of my favorite songs is "Sound of Freedom" Club Mix by Bob Sinclair. It has a great tempo/cadence and just keeps me going. I have it in my playlist twice!
-
Toss 1/2 of one in your smoothie! I know it sounds crazy, but it just blends right in!

Any salad made with quinoa - just google it, there are tons out there. But a go to at our house is quinoa, boccocini (sp?) cheese, chopped tomatoes, some green peas, a little bit of chopped onion (really, any cut up veggie works). Use an olive oil/balsamic vinegar mix to moisten. Mmm. Full of protein and goodies, tastes…

I just right clicked on the picture, to view it in a new window. The whole picture came up then.

Sometimes I don't add my veggies in to my diary - the few calories they add in sometimes are just not worth my search/find effort. If that makes sense. But I sure do eat lots! So maybe that is true for others as well.
-
Oh my - OH MY!!! Look at your waist! And your hips! And your arms!!! And all of you! You have done so amazingly well! Congrats, and thanks for the pics. It really inspires me to keep this new lifestyle as well :-)

Agree to bring a cooler - you don't want to overheat all those yummy things you will buy! As for price, spend some time and comparison shop. I am new to the farmers market in my town, and first visit out just bought without a thought to price. Found out later that I paid 8$ for a dozen ears of corn!!!! Now that I have been…

Welcome to MFP! Don't be too hard on yourself at the beginning - I was surprised just how many calories I was eating on a daily basis before I started counting. I've only been on for two months now, and know that it didn't take long at all to adjust to the new calories. Be sure and eat a good breakfast - and include a…
