Please add me for 75 this month!!

I've only done 5 races, but I do this too... Keep my bib, write down the info, and if I have a picture, I include that too!

I have a 10oz Natahn bottle that I carry on mid-length runs. Doesn't bother me at all. I don't feel like I'm carrying it as I slip my hand and thumb in it and forget about it. I don't have to grip it to hold it... Which is nice.

5.28 miles on 4/30 for me!!! I think that puts me at 85 for the month!

That is fantastic!!! You will do great, and you willhave a fantastic time! I loved my first 5K and it is something I will never forget!

Fantastic job!!! Awesome NSV!!
-
Only 14 this week; total of 60 for the month so far

My first 5K in December was 34:55!!! I had a bridge on that first run too... which I wasn't prepared for!!! I had just completed C25K 2 days prior to my run! Under 31 minutes is awesome... I don't think I do that even now!!! Haha!! My first experience was great!! It was a Christmas run at night in downtown Jacksonville. It…

I'm sure you'll get lots of opinions on this, but.... for me.... there are no cheat days as I don't consider myself to be on a diet. I have had to retrain myself to a new lifestyle and way of eating. Oh sure... I've had many, many bad days (especially December thru March), but... it is what it is. I try to log everything.…

19 for me this week.... 46 total for the month!

I have a Polar FT4 with a chest strap, and I do NOT have any problems with the strap moving or falling down. I keep it tight , but not so tight it is uncomfortable. Depending on the type you have, you may want to see if you can get a smaller strap, if available.

When I run in the AM (usually on the weekends) I don't eat anything... I run on an empty stomach! I suppose it all depends on how far you to plan to run. I'm just starting to increase my weekend runs, and ran 9 miles on Sunday... I did take a Gel/water before I ran, and it worked out well.

4/1 thru 4/8 = 26.65 miles

Congrats!!! That is an awesome accomplishment!
-
Congratulation!!! That is an awesome accomplishment!!! I hope to do my first half next January. It's people like you who inspire me to keep going!

I was also NEVER a runner, but knew I had to do some serious cardio to burn some calories. I love the Couch-to-5K (C25K) program. If you haven't read about it, you should look it up. It's a 9 week program, 3x a week.... it starts you out walking with some running mixed in... and it builds up your running time to 30…

If it's not too late... let's bump me up to 70 for April (instead of 65)!!! Thanks!!

11 more miles for me..... 77 total for the month!!!

I've only tried the Chomps and had no issues, but... not sure I used enough. I'm struggling myself with all this "energy" stuff now that I'm starting to run longer/farther. I'm confused about when to take them (before, during or both?)... how much to take.... etc. Even with water or gatorade.... do I stop, drink and go?…

I'm still a fairly new runner and have only run one 10K, but... want to run a 1/2 marathon in January. I typically run 15-20 miles a week. I "try" to run every other day. My weekday runs are typically 4.5 - 6 miles, and my weekend runs right now are 5-8 miles. When I start on the formal training program, I'll try to follow…
-
Bump for later... as I'll begin training for my first 1/2 marathon soon.... this is all good info!
-
I plan on signing up for my first 1/2 too.... Disney 1/2 marathon next January. I've read about the Hal Higdon Training program, and I am going to look into that. Good luck to you!!!!
-
Bump.... keeping for reference!
-
I don't think it's healthy or sustainable either. And like the other posters have said.... I really wouldn't say anything to her other than congratulate her.... and move on.
-
You CAN do this.... just believe in yourself!!!! Last March I started my "healthy journey".... I was only able to walk on treadmill, not run. I think I walked a 21 minute mile. I kept at it... and became a faster and faster walker. Then... I tackled C25K on the treadmill... and then outside. I finished the outside program…

I have a pair of Phillips that go over the ear. Bought them at Target for about $20-$30. I bought the waterproof ones. Love them!!! I have no issues with the cord. I have an iPhone and I use an armband, so it's all out of my way!
-
I'm in.... Bumping up to 65 miles!!!
-
I was the same.... I did the C25K program on the treadmill and thought... OK... I'm ready for outdoors.... lasted less than 1/2 mile. I ended up doing the C25K program outside, but I started in week 4 (vs. week 1). What the above posters have said is true.... go slow, pay attention to your pace, concentrate on your…
