  • Added 19 miles this week.... For a total of 66 so far for March!
  • Ugh... I have the same problem!! I have some capris and 1 pair of spandex shorts from Kohl's... I think they are Adidas. I hate that they don't make long running shorts. I bit the bullet today and bought a pair of regular running shorts today... Under Armour. Hoping they work good.
  • Do you know where in Jax she will travel to? I live out in the Orange Park area...

  • Was on vacation and couldn't get my miles to you on Sunday for Week 3 check-in, so... here they are: 18 miles 47 miles for the month thru 3/18
  • Good luck in your first 5K... you'll do GREAT!!! There are a few really good articles about running your first race, in particular a 5K, out on ACTIVE.COM. Check out the articles in the middle of the page titled, "Tips to Run a 5K": http://www.active.com/running/newbie-runners/ One of the best tips I received was.... if…

  • Mine will sometimes register 00 for my heart rate.... it's then that I know I need to wash it!!! I make sure to wet it before each use, and rinse it out after every use. I agree that it should also be tight, but comfortable. I think washing (with no fabric softener, bleach, etc.) and line dry is what is needed.
  • I am totally the same way.... always hungrier on days when I don't exercise. Guess I need to start exercising EVERY DAY!!!! haha!!
  • Awesome job, woman!!! I knew about the 2nd NSV, but the first one is maybe even more FANTASTIC!!!! You are such an inspiration. I'm hoping to get my 5K time down below 10 minutes this year.... you give me hope!!!

  • 22 miles this week 29 miles so far for the month of March
  • My weight doesn't go up with TOM, it goes up a few pounds the week or so before (PMS). PMS is also when I have all my cravings... mostly sweets and carbs. I wish I had some tips for ya... the biggest things I try to do... drink lots of water, and not keep those craving foods in the house!!!
  • You CAN do it!!! A year is a long time.... plenty of time to train and get in shape!!!! I plan on also signing up for my first 1/2 marathon next January 2013.... at Disney. I haven't been running too long, but I have done two 5Ks and one 5-mile race so far. My plan is to sign up for at least one race a month from now until…
  • 5/27 thru 5/29 = 11 miles Total for the month of February = 79
  • Definitely this!!! I typically was doing my C25K training mid day, about 2-3 hours after breakfast, but before lunch. My first 5K was an evening run. The advice I got was to try and do a few runs around the same time as the 5K. Definitely very helpful so you know what to expect. For the two other runs I've done (a 5K and a…
  • I posted a similar topic on low resting heart rate a while back, and I am actually glad to see others out there with a similar situation as mine. I'm sometimes paranoid that something bad will happen because of my low RHR, but... since I've been checked out by a cardiologist, and.... seeing others on here who are just fine…
  • I also have wide feet and have gone to running in a men's shoe. While the women's shoes seemed OK, they just didn't feel right. So... the guy at the running store brought out a pair of ASICS Gel Cumulus and a pair of ASICS Gel Nimbus shoes. The toe box is wider, and they feel great. No issues whatsoever! Just make sure you…
  • Don't get discouraged! I would go back to the running store and tell them exactly what you are doing and where it hurts. I don't think you should feel any pain with new, proper fitting shoes. For me, even with the wide shoes I tried on, they still felt tight in the toe/bunion area. I ended up getting a pair of men's shoes…
  • I agree with this! Also, when I started my journey almost a year ago, I was walking a 21 minute mile. I kept walking and walking. Before I knew it, I was able to walk faster and longer. I didn't start adding any running to my program until about 3 months in. And... When I did, I did the Couch to 5K program. Now I can run…
  • 2/20 thru 2/26 = 14 miles Total for the month = 68 miles
  • My RHR is low as well....... typically around 42. Before I lost weight, it was in the high 50's / low 60's. I was concerned about it... because my dad has had some valve issues, so I got checked out. I had an ECHO performed (ultrasound of the heart), wore a holster monitor for 24 hours (heart ranged from 31-76 during that…
  • I've never been a runner.... ever! But... I started with a walking/running program last spring (mostly walking), then I did the C25K on the treadmill over the summer, and again outside last fall. I can finally say that I am a runner, and I now really enjoy it. It is definitely the biggest calorie burner for me and a great…
  • Just in case this doesn't get picked up from the Week 3 thread (I was late getting my data in for last week): Crud... I forgot to check in this past week since I was out of town. If it's not too late, please add my weekly mileage: 2/13 thru 2/19 = 21 miles Total for month so far: 54 mile
  • Haha... sorry... I didn't initially catch that you said you were from Maine. Guess I better read more closely!!!
  • Try: runningintheusa.com This web site lets you search for races all over the USA (assuming you live in the USA). You can also search the web sites of some of the larger running stores that may be in your area. For me in NE Florida, 1st Place Sports hosts a lot of races, and they have them listed on their web site. Other…
  • There have been a number of threads on this same question... I know... I've tried to read them all!!! I too worry about loose skin! I am 47 and have lost 72 lbs so far. I do have some loose skin (mostly my thighs and bellY, but I also have another 20-30lbs to lose. I'm also a pear shape, so when I lose weight, I lose top…
  • Count me in.... I'm going to shoot for 60 miles in March!
