  • Is this the old ton of bricks vs. ton of feathers thing only with fat and muscle?

  • I love hockey, especially once the playoffs roll around. It seems like players will give up life and limb for their team. It's definitely my favorite time of year. C-A-P-S! CAPS, CAPS, CAPS!!!

  • That is a good idea. I was planning on starting the program and just doubling the amount of time to complete it because I want incorporate running into a routine very slowly. With running, incorporate it slowly and remember to stretch before and after your run. I have also heard that running with a heel strike is another…
  • Sounds like fun. I wanted to start the C25K program anyway. This is some extra motivation.
  • I wouldn't be able to make it to Arlington, but you might want to check out Potomac Pedalers if you are looking for group rides. They have a lot of NOVA rides scheduled. http://www.potomacpedalers.org/
  • Fellow Caps fan! Rocking the Red all the way to the Cup.

  • A bunch of the earlier members probably already know me, but we are growing a lot so I thought I would say hi again. Im glad to see so many DMV people. My name is Greg, and I live in Rockville, MD. I enjoy hiking, cycling, rafting, kayaking, climbing but I have let myself get to the point where my weight makes it hard to…
  • I am trying to recover from this weird lower abdominal thing. It hurts when I inhale deeply, cough, sneeze, bend at the waist so working out has been minimal, walking the dogs but nothing strenuous.
  • I am from Rockville, MD. The meet-up has kind of stalled for the moment but I would still like to do it. We will figure something out.
  • That's awesome! Yeah it gets hard to ride when the temps drop. I have some winter gear but I don't think I would ride in much less than about 30 degrees. I wont ride when there is snow, ice or if it is raining heavily.
  • I hope you are able to use this site to lose the weight and keep it off. I can't even imagine what it would be like to receive that news from the doctor. I guess it is good motivation though. You CAN lose the weight and we are here to help. There are plenty of very friendly and helpful people on MFP. Best of luck on your…
  • Wow great job!
  • Ok, I guess I will take a picture this weekend as my before. It might help to keep me motivated to take regular progress pics.
  • Wow that site sounds amazing! I will definitely check it out. Thanks for the info.
  • I'm having the same issue.
  • 1/1/12 SW: 372lbs
  • I am going to weigh in tonight. How do we want to go about the challenge? Calories burned challenge? Weight lost challenge?
  • I am in!
  • Hi eveybody! I'm not sure why I haven't checked in until now. My name is Greg. I am currently living in Rockville and working in Gaithersburg so I can't complain too much about the commute. I'm a hiker, camper, biker, swimmer, kayaker, white water rafter, future rock climber, basically an all around outdoor enthusiast. I…
  • That sounds like a nice ride. My commute would be about 8 miles each way on roads with heavy traffic so I don't ride to work. I think I may have found a good alternative though so I will probably check that out and see if biking to work is a option. I would love be able to decrease how much I use my car. Yay for the…
  • @horror_hampster; You were on the W&OD trail? That is a great bike path! Sounds like you had a good ride. Unfortunately it is quite a hike for me to get over there frequently but I did a charity ride on it earlier in the year and I really enjoy that path. @liveinthemix; I know what you mean. The roads can be a bit scary…

  • I don't think it is weird. Not everyone likes being approached in the gym though. From my experience there are a couple different types of people at the gym. You have; 1. The serious business gym goer; They usually have headphones in and are really only there to get the job done and get out not wasting any time. Tend to…
  • Hey! I know exactly what you and a bunch of other people are talking about. I was using the app by it self for almost a year and I would see some progress but I had trouble keeping it off. It wasn't until I started making friends on MFP and posting that I been able to stay motivated. I have logged in for 45 days in a row…
  • Welcome to MFP! I'm glad you are enjoying yourself so far. It only gets better with time! Make some small goals that you can reach. Once you accomplish them your motivation will be sky high! There are usually groups that form in the message boards will short term goals to reach.
  • Update: Midway Challenge: Not complete. I burn about 2000 but I was starting to feel a cold coming on over the weekend and I wasn't able to hit 3500 calories burned. SW - 370 9/26 - 363.3 10/3 - 360.2 10/10 - 364.3 10/17 - 359.6 GW - 355
