Mark...Rippetoe... Have you ever heard of him? He's probably THE most well respected trainer in terms of knowledge of routines, exercises, form, etc.
-
@hpsnickers1 Under what conditions does DNL occur? It doesn't simply happen because you eat carbs. It happens under specific conditions. What are those conditions? I think some of you are far too dogmatic. That is, you accept things simply because it coincides with your preconceived notions. You are not receptive to…

Someone has never seen Rippetoe's SS routine ^_^
-
I do squats and deadlifts on the same day. Problem?
-
Thread: demolished. *Everything in moderation* Sugar is not INHERENTLY bad. If you eat too much of it, then it's bad. Same goes for anything, including fruits and vegetables. Hell if I eat too much BROCCOLI it's bad.

I wouldn't bulk at 15% body fat...

She was directing this at Hunter :P she hasn't even responded to me, which is equally hurtful :[
-
Trolling? That will probably hinder progress. There's a reason why marathon training has been seen as one of the worst forms of weight loss routines. Excessive cardio is as likely (if not more) to be detrimental to fat loss as it is to be conducive to it.

Some girl with a ballerina for her picture.

Maybe in this thread, but not in the threads I've seen today :\ Some people believe that a 500 calorie deficit with a 100% carb diet < a 500 calorie surplus with a 0% carb diet in terms of FAT LOSS. It's mind blowing knowing that people believe that.

When will it be mine turn for you to answer questions? 1) Glycogen - significance? 2) De novo lipogenesis - definition? Also, response to this graph? http://weightology.net/weightologyweekly/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/Lipolysis-Lipogenesis1.png

Pls go.

I've had a crush on you for years...
-
According to some of us: absolutely correct. According to carbophobes: WRONG!
-
Still incredibly excessive. It's downright counter intuitive to fat loss goals, quite frankly.
-
This, though I imagine so many people will blow this post out of proportion. If you are eating 2,000 calories and you hit all your macronutrient and micronutrient needs in 1,600 calories - someone please explain why it is harmful to fill the additional 400 calories with cookies rather than fruit. That's the point -…

Still waiting to see an ounce of data supporting the practical application of paleo which reflects the claims paleo-adherents make. The one RCT I have seen does not keep calories, macronutrients, OR micronutrients consistent. Yet they tout it as some huge victory.

Question: what makes you think doing that much cardio yields any benefit beyond doing, say, 2-4 hours of cardio per week? Do you think excessive cardio will help you lose fat faster...?
-
I mean, I asked the girl if I could drink 20,000 calories of pure olive oil with no carb intake, and she responded with: "you can't gain fat without the presence of carbs." So excited to start my 10,000 calorie, 0g carb diet tomorrow!
-
Why? If it doesn't pose any harm or contribute to a lack of health? Why is it dirty if it doesn't do anything bad to me?
-
Two questions: 1) Do you know what glycogen is? 2) Can you define de novo lipogenesis?
-
Is ice cream clean? What if I balance my calories, hit my macros, and eat minimal micronutrient requirements? Is ice cream dirty after then?
-
Lulllllllllllllllllllz. This.
-
How do you define "clean" food?
-
Huh?
-
Because he has the mental capacity to read and absorb scientific literature. The basis of our understanding of the natural world, including nutrition, is scientific research. Where do you think doctors, dieticians, nutritionists, etc. are *supposedly* getting their information from? You think there's a giant textbook with…
-
Why in the heck do you intend on doing that much cardio...?
-
I agree, except I would take it a step further and say, "the only NECESSARY step in reducing body fat is being in a caloric deficit," as nothing else is necessary outside of a caloric deficit. Once that is in place, you will lose fat - though some ways are better than others. If that is not in place (i.e. you are at…
-
Maybe you're reading the wrong stuff! What research do you have?
-
No, it's a conspiracy. You are now saying that EVERY country with research supporting the efficacy of grains is part of some global conspiracy to conceal the truth. Do you find it odd that EVERY blue zone on earth (blue zone = populations that are considered the healthiest, longest living people) don't adhere to what…
