White bread, potatoes, rice, chips, crackers = white carbs
-
I never met a carb I didn't like! My preferences have changed somewhat post op, but I just. can't. stop. IF i start eating them. For myself, limited "white carbs" will be the key to long-term success. I don't like that, but I am coming to accept that. Trigger foods will vary from person to person; figure out what they are…

Agree with all of the above; start now to get your head in the game! Learn to sip fluids, rather than guzzle them. Plan your post op period carefully so that you are able to establish your eating and drinking habits before returning to work. (and don't go back to work too early - take a minimum of two weeks - personal…

I also think that the "4 month blues" is a part of the trial and error that we all face following this procedure. Most of us (Myself, included) had eating habits that caused weight gain; it is natural to lapse back into those habits after a period of time. If I don't journal every bite I take, I lose accountability for my…

I'm going to echo what everyone else has said - the scale is wicked bi@%$ and doesn't move like I want her to; however, the inches are dropping off. My weight loss is sporadic; I will hover around a weight for 5-10 days, then drop 3 pounds every other days for a couple of days. I, as others have mentioned, find that…

I think I need to start a journal for my NSVs - the pounds are moving slower for me than for some, but the changes in my energy level and body composition are nothing short of amazing. The latest good news - I am 2 pounds away from making my Driver's License truth rather than fiction! BMI down from 43 to 35.9 Pants down…

Thank you for posting - I am relatively new (10 weeks out) and need to hear your counsel, advice and wisdom! I suspect that KEEPING the weight off may be more difficult than losing it. Again, many thanks and keep this thread going!!

I think we all understand - reframing our relationship with food will be a lifelong battle.

198.8 this morning - One-derland, baby!!!!
-
I took 5 weeks off - I could probably have gone back at 4 weeks. Don't skimp on recovery time - it takes awhile to adjust to the new eating/drinking regimen.

Chicken chowder!!!!!
-
-
Cheese chicken chowder today - shredded chicken, carrots, roasted corn, with chicken broth and fat free evaporated milk, topped with 1/4 cup shredded colby jack cheese - stored in pint mason jar for weekend dinners and lunches.
-
I made a bunch of "baby burrito bowls" - 1 tbsp pinto beans, 1 tbsp roasted corn, 1 tbsp salsa, 2 tbsp greek yogurt, 2 ounces chicken breast and 2 tbsp cojack cheese. This fits easily in a small Mason jar and is easy to pop in the microwave. 171 calories, with (trying to remember) 21 gm protein, 5 carbs and 3 fats? Don't…

RenaeJ - doing good! Been quiet because I have been working midnights…back to daytime now! 2 pounds from Onederland and 7 lbs until I match my driver's license!!!!

Goals for the week- 60 grams of protein daily 60 oz of water daily Exercise 60 minutes at lead 5 days this week. And I should hit One-derland this week! Fingers crossed - haven't been there for a loooong time!

Can I add an "Amen" to everything that has been said! WLS is a tool that most of us have chosen as the last resort after exercise and diet haven't been successful. Even after WLS, it takes a lot of work, discipline and determination to get the weight off. The surgery alone will only take us so far - we have to change our…

Same here - was logging consistently then went on vacation - now back to real life!

My surgeon also recommends Flintstone chewables - they are working for me so far. I take a Flintstone morning and evening, with a sublingual B12 and Citracal +D3 gummies morning and evening. Also take Folic acid 1000 mg daily (to counteract the effects of medication that I take for rheumatoid arthritis.)

Hugs to you - what a horrible loss. Be kind to yourself. Consider seeking a support group or counseling to help you put your loss into perspective. And don't forget - you are loved and your health is important. Give yourself time to heal.

My name is Michelle - had a vertical sleeve gastrectomy 6/22/2015. HW 254 lb SW 226 lb CW 215 lb Feeling good - have started water aerobics and walking. No appetite and struggling to get adequate protein and fluids. I feel pretty good, but still need a nap most days. Love the support on this group - thanks for the advice!

I'm here with similar issues. I had weight loss surgery 3 weeks ago - but it isn't as easy as it sounds.
-
Agree with what everyone else has said - the more healthy changes you can incorporate into your life BEFORE surgery, the more successful you can be. The surgery is a tool, not a magic bullet! Good luck with getting everything arranged and on your way.

I had scrambled eggs in the hospital that were disgusting - haven't been able to look at a scrambled egg since.
