  • The weigh in would be July 12 - as May has 31 days.
  • I'm game too...I lost about 20 lbs last summer/fall, and put it all back on over the winter. I was planning on 24 lbs within the next 60 days as my alone goal - but I'll try this. I am at 204 - want to get to 175 - so technically I am shooting for 29 lbs - but I 'll try the 90 days as well! Starting - 204 Goal - 175…
  • Here is something I found - it may helps! If you are serious about losing weight or increasing your level of health, your one-stop solution is Interval Training! Interval training carries with it many different benefits, allowing you to achieve the maximum amount of progress in the shortest amount of time. Below are some…
  • By the way - my only point is that it hasn't been proven one way or the other that it's a myth, fact, or somewhere in between - I think it's somewhere in between based on body comp, whether it's done just by eating less or impacted by adding exercise, etc.
  • Here's another from EHow Introduction When you're trying to lose weight, your main goal is to create a calorie deficit (burn more calories than you take in). If you burn 500 calories more than you eat everyday, your body will be forced to make up that 500 calorie shortfall from sources other than food - mainly body fat…
  • Some would contradict that as a myth saying that when fat replaces muscle as a result of "starvation" that the metabolism does in fact slow - here is something from netwellness.org, from the University of Cincinnati and Ohio State Univeristy Question: Hi, I`m a RD. Have a client that is in the starvation mode. Know your…
  • You do know you can have some of your vices on Sunday's throughout Lent - don't you? So you don't have to suddenly go crazy on Easter. Lent is 40 days...which is Ash Wednesday through Saturday of that week (4 days) - then 6 weeks of Mon through Sat (6 days a week) - 36 days - for a total of 40 days-Sundays don't count in…
  • I like to put it on top of an egg white omelette - gives it a little more flavor, creaminess, and texture.

  • I just saw that miracle noodles in a banner ad above this blog...wow? I think they are the shirataki noodles - and aren't they tofu?
  • Let me ask - you say you keep losing out...are you offering the asking price? Or lower? And by how much?
  • I too agree that restaurants should not be forced to put out nutrition info...it would be nice if they would, but they open themselves to lawsuits...I can guarantee you that even though mcdonalds puts out nutrition information it's not exact site to site...they may put a little more ketchup on the burger, or the number of…
  • Based on a 2000 calorie diet is the % - so if something is 200 calories it would be 10% of the total. The calories, or sodium, or fiber amounts don't change - this is to reflect the % of the total - which would change whether it's a 2,000 calorie diet you are on, or a 2,500 calorie, or even a 1,500 calorie diet - it's just…
  • You are right - either needs to know your weight and height and age and such - the heart rate burns calorie rates differently at different weights...so whatever you are reading from (whether machine or HRM) needs to know your specifics.
  • The value of calories per serving doesn't change...the 2000 means how many calories you can eat. You enter in the items you eat in a day - and the amount...or servings...and when it's all totalled up you have the total number of calories. I am not sure what you mean if it isn't this definition.
  • I'm like you - I craved diet coke - would drink it all the time - large 32oz sizes at a time. Was having "tummy" aches - went to the doctor - she said I am dehydrated and things stopped moving...how could that be will all the coke I was drinking. Well - I learned about the effect of caffeine that day! Anyway - I started…
  • Wow - you are on a roll today - this is the great information sharing day! I have learned a lot today!
  • kerri is right - it's used to replace sugar - but usually when you remove fat you lose some of the texture and taste that fat is known for - so often sugar or substitutes...and even salt...are added back to make it more palatable. Try to go more natural plain lowfat yogurt - and add in fruit if you like the flavor.
  • Isn't it like "tipping the scales" - not like tipping at a restaurant.

  • Sometimes it's in your cache - you may have to go into IE under Tools, Delete Browsing History, and clear out some of your cookies or temporary files. Same thing used to happen when I went in, closed, then my wife logged in and my food showed up on hers...only it wasn't really there.

  • Glad to hear - and welcome! Mike is the creator - and I would say that all of us members have helped him "build it" with our thoughts, suggestions, feedback - and by being a part of this great community. Mike deserves all the credit for MFP!
  • Welcome. I don't live on McGuire - not in the AF - but I was born there - actually in Willingsboro - but parents were on base and I lived there for the first 6 years of my life. Hope you find some people close by that can help you meet your goals - but have fun doing it! Welcome!
  • There are a number of sites...but the one i use is at this link...you put in the number of servings...then each of the items...it then calculates the nutrition http://caloriecount.about.com/cc/recipe_analysis.php?process=resubmit&count=2

  • Guiltless grill is usually pretty good...and if you like salmon...they have a great salmon with mixed veggies...it is really pretty good for a whole meal. Maybe have a small house salad before - no croutons or cheese...and use only a little bit of the dressing...they usually give you a small ramiken full of salad…
  • yes...that is actually the intent of the Wii...including the hula hoops, and the boxing, and the yoga. It's a great tool to have fun while working out...really the first of it's kind - now i don't mind so much if the kids are playing video games!
  • I had a dual inguenal hernia operation (two softball size hernia about two inches below my bellybutton) about 11 years ago (yes - they were caused by me going crazy with exercise instead of doing it smartly!). Even today, when I sit a long time or lift heavy things more than occasionally, it feels like it's tearing. I have…
  • Put it all...just load up what your starting weight was...maybe you hit a plateua or are using MFP for additional support...but it's what total weight you have lost...feel good about every pound and share your success!
  • I count calories...and fat grams. The problem with trying to only count calories from fat is the misunderstanding of some people who don't believe that a calorie is a calorie is a calorie - a unit of measure that it takes to expend energy. Now it's true that you don't want all your calories to come from fat...but you can…
