So, she is feeling better, and it has motivated her to make healthy changes, more power to her. I hope it turns out to help her make lasting changes. Of course, that is all on HER, and whether or not she stays with it!!! I just think that the level of commitment increases for some people, if they are putting money into a…

I have had success dropping weight in the last few months. Like so many, I have had such a problem with weight maintenance, so that's the new trick I'm trying to learn. I reset my loss goal to .5 a week, as I am now at the top of the BMI recommendation. So, I would like to lose a few more, but really am just glad to have…

This is an important post for many of us. I have regained. Repeatedly. Don't want to again. Somehow, we have to face our fears with confidence that we have the tools. I love the idea of the self talk from nxd10.

Marvelous!! Looking positive and happy! :)

Good advice given above. There are medical solutions to those roller coasters. You may be subconsciously treating a chemical imbalance-- ?? Having family members with bipolar tendencies has given me a new appreciation for those neurotransmitters.
-
:/ Try to mask the flavor with the suggestions above. Not to be snarky, but it is an unnecessary expense on your healthy journey.

I'm nearly at my goal, but would welcome you to my group!! I'm going to need help to maintain! Never give up and never surrender!!

I used to do that. For me? I think I felt like I was "inadequate" or not as important as some other family members ( in my family of origin....) Also, there were some "hard to please"--- and I felt empty, as I thought I was missing something I should have essentially gotten from them. After awhile, I learned not to expect…

You have a RIGHT to be there. Own it, dear girl. If they judge you, that is their weakness. Enjoy the workout space.

Working in temporary space at work, but I haven't resorted to binge eating to cope with my stress. I teach, so it is not just my stress, but trying to navigate this atypical situation with teens. Got my exercise routine "habit" well underway, before school started, so it would feel normal to workout.

Start with small changes that are manageable in food intake and exercise. Log everything, good bad and ugly. Walk. Repeat. You are able to do this. Believe it.!! :)

I said no to the last piece of pie. It wasn't homemade anyway. But I didn't get ANY! sigh. :o

Yes, for over a 100 days. It does me no good to go into denial. Not logging, and not stepping on the scale regularly led to my re-gain. Logging for over a hundred days has been crucial in getting 20 pounds OFF.
-
Congrats and you know exactly what to do. You are now wiser. You will keep it off!!!
-
You have even more motivation to stick with it....... don't look back! MOST of us here have had to rededicate ourselves to taking better care of better food and exercise habits!
-
That would be good with fresh tomatoes, too! I would not add that much margarine but otherwise, it would be tasty, and quick! I can see this pairing well with barley, and some spices, like basil, bay leaf, etc..

Good for you! Just remember that your rate might slow down a little bit as time goes on, but what a great start!

Use common sense. Well-balanced, lean protein, fruits vegetables, healthy fats, complex carbohydrates, occasional treats. Cut down on caffeine, if you are currently a coffee drinker, no alcohol........ You know the drill. Any questions about foods to avoid, check with your doctor. (Limit fish per week that may be mercury…

That seems way too low for a 21 year old male, without knowing much about you. Can you sustain that intake long-term? Or will that type of restriction backfire, and trigger a binge? Consider your new habits carefully.

Look at the Cooking light website....Or Hungry Girl ideas for filling snacks. Make oatmeal with extra water---It pumps up the volume. Do you have beans (black beans, and the like?) They are filling because of the fiber/protein. What about cabbage slaw mix with some chicken chunks, seeds and a little dressing? Eat protein…

Make it a distant memory, as you approach your next meal/snack/day! Looking back is often counterproductive. You ARE making progress!
-
I like a cabbage/carrot salad that can easily be made from the coleslaw packages. Top with sunflower seeds, craisins, a little dressing........Sometimes I'll put leftover cooked vegetables on it, too.
-
I was surprised at how good the grilled chicken/apple/cranberry salad at Burger King was, yesterday! Used half a packet of the dressing and gave away some of the craisins. Did not want the croutons, either.
-
You could make a crust less pie, or a fruit crisp. Let them pile on real whipped cream if they want it!
