  • Maybe........just make little deals with yourself. People on here call them "baby steps"-- just to get yourself going towards your goals. I kind of make a game of it! (That you will take just "one serving" instead of going back for seconds, for example. That you will be seated when you eat or that you will do a "hunger…
  • There are times that I have to re-learn how to say "no" to myself. Just be fierce! :| After you get used to avoiding the binge episodes, you'll realize how many things you are able to say "yes" to!
  • :) I am much older than you, and feel best between 13-1500 calories daily, for a modest weight loss. Someone once said "Don't do anything to lose that you can't do to maintain" and I love that!
  • Someone here will soon say, "Abs are made in the kitchen." I think that's quite true! Also, cardio work helps drop body fat overall, so if you have extra around your middle, consistent cardio is important. Good luck!

  • Your body is telling you that you're unable to function. Eat some complex carbs. Don't sacrifice your health.
  • I know that "feeling"-- But, the ones who are successful on here? Most of the time they shut of the internal messages that tell them they don't have to work out, or don't have to watch calories...... :# they push past the feelings, and just do it. Consistently. Best of health, to you!
  • That is a great payoff!!
  • I get that there is an "up" side to accurately tracking nutrition. However, knowing how easy it is for some female teens to slip into obsessions, I would be a little concerned, also. I would downplay it, actually.
  • It is impressive for you to get back after it, with a fifteen pound gain. Please don't let your thinking be too negative. Being mad at yourself, or impatient is counterproductive. Change it up a little bit with the food!! Sometimes, I say to myself, well, what would be so bad about staying heavier than I want? Essentially,…
  • Congratulations on the restart on the MFP routine. The fruit of my Lent? Self-forgiveness.
  • Having recently restarted, I find it a little bit easier to take it one snack, one meal at a time. If I worry about "eating healthy for long periods of time", it is too much pressure. Have long term goals, but celebrate the milestones.

  • No worries......that's great!! Congratulations!! Just don't invest too much, because you'll need more clothes after another 10-20 pounds. Keep an eye on the $$ budget, like you have been with that calorie budget. Discount stores........thrift stores? Excellent ways to meet the need for clothes that fit your changing body!!
  • This is what I had yesterday--Jello fluff pie- Dissolve a small package of lime jello in 1/4 c. boiling water. Blend in 2 6 oz. containers of yoplait lite yogurt, (I used lemon and strawberry, and it was still green.) then a container of lite cool whip. (Although I used about 3/4 of an 8 oz. container with my lemon lime…
  • Probably the majority of us have yo-yoed to some extent, so you are at the right place. Sometimes there's a wakeup call, and this might be yours!! At this age and stage, the energy we can generate, and the steps we can take to manage weight HAVE to be a priority!! Best of luck and feel free to add me!
  • "I think if you are committed to someone, you are committed to them. It might be difficult for you to watch the downward spiral, but think of the rewards of watching your partner find his/her wings and flying again" It would be VERY difficult. In my world, though, I took a vow, for better or worse, in sickness in…
  • Good work!!! You just keep it up!!! You are worth it!! Feel the strength that is in you. You are able to do this!!! :flowerforyou:
  • I mix it up......I like to go to the YMCA and work out sometimes, because there's nothing else to do there, plus it inspires me to be around all sorts of people who are "bringing it" to their workouts!! When I am at home, I am more likely to find something else to do, that is NOT exercise. That being said, I do not enjoy…
  • I don't see anything wrong with eating pancakes or cereal for breakfast. Do you make your pancakes from scratch? You can reduce oil and sugar, use skim milk and extra egg whites to bring up the nutritional value. There are some oatmeal egg/white pancake recipes, and adding a topping of apple butter instead of syrup is very…

  • My husband and i enjoy tilapia, baked in the oven, with a small drizzle of olive oil, italian spices, pepper and feta cheese--- Doesn't take long!
  • I am 55 and a little over 3 weeks post-op from a complete abdominal hysterectomy. My nurse told me that my calorie goal should be around 1500 calories. I am walking, just around my house, up to 20 minutes at a time, three times a day. Started out at 5 minutes…. (shortly after getting home from the hospital.) I usually wear…
  • Food tonight might be pork chops and potato dumplings!!! On a serious note…. I am glad to have increased time this year, in fact I feel like I got a head start on Lent. I am currently on medical leave from my job. In late Jan. the doctors told me I had an ovarian tumor that had all the indicators of cancer--…
  • That would take really a tremendous focus, for ME! It might happen, or it might not. Good luck with making the changes that will get you healthier and more fit....allow yourself to focus on the positive, keep it going, even if you don't make it to the magic #40, you can rock some new outfit that shows off your efforts in…
  • The Last Telegram- Liz Trenow. Enjoyed it very much!
  • Let's claim imperfection in meeting our goals as a function of being human. Weight gain and exercise relapses happen. Own it!! I had a serious reluctance to schedule a physical, because I gained weight since I last saw my doctor. One of my friends on here made me realize what a powerful turning point that could be, as I…
  • So painful---sorry for your loss. Allow yourself to grieve in your way. Prayers being sent for you and your little angel. I hope you can find some peace and know that others do care.
  • Hang in there......"We're all hungry in a different way".......think that's from a Wynona Judd song. Just understand that recovery is a fragile process. Peace?
  • Your form of entertainment when your Dad was driving through scenic country for family vacation was to play "Go Fish" with your siblings. When you were home for the summer on school vacation, you didn't have contact with most friends unless they sent you a snail mail letter. You went visiting the relatives on Sunday…
  • I'm interested in reading this, because compliments backfire for me as well--feels like a type of pressure. I guess a part of me feels like , "Oh crap, it's obvious, and now I have to live up to this new standard." Well, I didn't, and so I regained my hard earned 25 lbs. That doesn't feel so great either. I need to keep my…
  • Also, there are several good things on the "Eating Well" website!!! They will thank you for the long term benefits!
  • I know that it can be difficult to see people indulging around you, especially when it happens regularly, and I feel tempted to just go with it. Before I look down at others, I must remember: 1. Food choices are not moral choices. 2. Making healthier food choices is a personal decision. 3. Human behavior is complex, and I,…
