  • Here's another from my pal Marshall Roy about the "flat back". Also, you will get more power by keeping your elbows in and activating your lats (I do anyway). http://marshallroy.com/?p=856

  • If you are doing 20 miles a week, it would be a good idea to be fitted. Also a good idea to get 2 pair if you can and rotate them. The Brooks Ravenna line is the preference of Mrs KB.
  • Seahawks do some pretty interesting things with their uniforms.....not for everyone, but interesting.
  • Here's a good article about 5X5 http://www.strongfirst.com/strongfirst-on-5x5/
  • Tampa Bay Buccaneers represent! Also follow the Arizona Cardinals, since my tax dollars pay for their stadium, but wouldn't call myself a "fan". As it ties to health/fitness, I am alarmed at the number of ACL injuries that have already happened this season.

  • A quick couple of minutes on the foam roller, brush my teeth, lay down and do a deep breathing exercise. I never make it through the deep breathing before falling asleep.
  • So I went to Lollapalooza in 1995. Wasn't real interested but I was given a free ticket. All of the "big names" for that year were disappointing at best, but 2 things stood out. Sinead O'Connor did "Nothing Compares 2 U' and you could have heard a pin drop. Quite the performance. Cypress Hill. They took the stage and tore…
  • This. Give them experiences, not things. Any gadget will be obsolete in a year, but the memory of the first time you stood at the edge of the Grand Canyon lasts a lifetime.
  • I do. Mine has 50 lbs in it. It's great, I love it and its very versatile. And Josh Henkin is a local Phoenix guy. Don't be fooled by numbers, it doesn't take a lot of weight in it to get awesome workouts.

  • I enjoy the front squat (with doubles) and the windmill. As for frequency, 3 days on, rest day, 2 days on, rest day When not kettlebelling, I am sandbagging and bodyweighting. As for the TGU, a lot of people get frustrated because its a grinding, low rep, almost boring exercise....but the benefits are great. I have…

  • Hay baler/ cattle feeder starting at 14. After turning 16 I became a lifeguard, then water safety instructor as soon as I was eligible (had to be 18). Yes, I can milk a cow :)
  • And you threw "rim shot" in on an enema gag.......priceless
  • I don't think that one can be too big, but it bothers me that some people sacrifice mobility for size. Shoulders so wide that you go through doors sideways are impressive. But if you can't extend your arms overhead properly what's the point? Proportion helps too. A massive upper body looks silly when it's held up by…
  • Swing Snatch KB Front Squat (racked) Clean and Press Windmill
  • If you want to mix it up, press from a high kneel position. (tall on your knees, not sitting back on your feet)
  • I'm not here to argue the does/does not about the IT band. I will say that whenever I foam roll, a few quick passes across my IT band does feel pretty good. I personally get more good from concentrating more on my TFL.
  • Just to clarify, I wasn't bashing CrossFit. If you read the second part of my post, I encourage the OP to give it a shot. Different strokes for different folks. I would encourage anyone with an interest in a particular excercise modality to try it for themselves, and make an informed decision based on their own experience.…

  • My only experience with CrossFit: I was making a delivery to a business that is next door to a CF box, and they had the back overhead door open. The "coach" was screaming over the loud, pumping music that "if you aren't puking, you're doing it wrong!". Puking does not equal results. My 2 cents: In any exercise methodology,…

  • Mrs. KB enjoys a cushier bike saddle as well. Not sure about memory foam, but she prefers the gel saddles, and they are available in a bit wider style. We found hers at local bike shop, but Target had some too. They also make gel seat covers, that will cushion your current saddle, if that would work.
  • When in doubt, go with the opinion of an authority on the subject. From the rulebook of the United States Powerlifting Federation: "6. Causes for Disqualification of a Deadlift 6.7. Allowing the bar to return to the platform without maintaining control with both hands." I know, not very impressive for the bro's and gym…
  • This. If you are dropping your warm-up weight to "prevent injury", then hire someone to teach you how to dead lift.
  • Wolff's Law....an widely accepted reference on this subject. Wolff's law is a theory developed by the German anatomist and surgeon Julius Wolff (1836–1902) in the 19th century that states that bone in a healthy person or animal will adapt to the loads under which it is placed. If loading on a particular bone increases, the…
