So how did everyone do? I personally sat this one out, due to a work injury (ankle) Better luck next time, I guess....

I love forums about squatting. So much "my way or no way". There are a dozen ways to squat, and do so correctly with good form, and all of them offer their benefits. Heavy is relative...to both the lifter, as well as the type of squat you are doing. No need to smirk at one another. Lots of good squat info can be found at…

I have recently found out that if there is no barbell on your back, then its not a "real" squat. I have been doing fake squats for all of this time...

If you feel you must use a bar, you could always go with Zercher's. Or lose the equipment and start training to do pistol's.

Park Road Fitness in Burlingame is a Dragon Door dealer. Buy from them and don't pay shipping.

Learning.....I learned a LOT, both good and bad, while I was a teenager.

Curious...who are you training with? If you don't mind telling.

Heels coming up while squatting is generally a sign of a lack of mobility in the hips. Otherwise, spouses working out together isn't for everyone. If you want his/her form corrected, buy them some sessions with someone certified as a gift.

I have never done anything with him, but that kind of "loose" style is what Mike Mahler teaches. I struggled with it a little at first, but it came around. Mike also teaches a double KB swing, but you use a more narrow stance and swing outside of your legs. It really took some getting used to, but its a good workout once…

A less popular AC/DC song "Flick Of The Switch"....has a pretty solid riff.

Not only do our bodies (muscle, tendon, other tissues) need recovery, our central nervous system needs recovery between sessions as well. We tend to not pay as much attention to the brain, in regards to how taxed it becomes after serious workouts.

There are a pretty good bunch of trainers who arent on the DD site anymore, and arent yet on the SF site either. Some of the one day courses are awesome quality instruction, without being so taxing as a full on RKC or SFG. I attended a small one day seminar last year put on by Dr Mark Cheng. I learned more at that then I…

I like the "front squat" video, where she is nearly bent fully at the waist before finally dropping her butt slightly. I laughed when they mentioned that squat position was similar to the position you are in while skiing. Thanks for the comedy link.

Kettlebells, sandbag, pullup bar: No Quarter

I did my first TSC April 2011. Hadn't trained at all for it. Pulled 345, 3 pull ups (my pull ups have always sucked) and 60 snatches with the 24kg at 235 bodyweight. I opted to not do the novice weight because I had never tested myself with the 24 before. Planning to do this one. Training more pull ups than anything. I may…

Bodyweight squats. Try to do 50 a day, while at work etc. Grease that groove!

My standard "I want to learn to use kettlebells" response: If you are interested in training with kettlebells, the hands down single most important thing that you can do is make the investment in at least one session with a certified instructor. And I don't mean the guy/gal at the local big box gym that claims to know what…

Go to youtube and find Breaking Down The Turkish Get Up by Franz Snideman. It's done in 3-4 parts, each only a few minutes long. Very good information and easy to understand.

I have found with my 9 year old that the balance-the-shoe-on-the-fist style works well for teaching focus/balance etc.

I lost the tip of my left index finger in a work accident in 1998, and haven't played seriously since. I do still goof around with it, especially since my 9 year old son is now learning. I play a Yamaha RGX420 with 2 humbuckers. Duncan Distortion (SH-6) in the bridge, and a PAF Pro in the neck. Amp is a Laney GH50L tube…
