In theory a HRM should accurately track calories burned regardless of what you're doing.

The Koko Fit Club gym either near my office or near my house. Love it, love the staff.

Start now. Muscle burns calories so the more you have the more food you'll burn off. http://www.everydayhealth.com/weight/busting-the-muscle-weighs-more-than-fat-myth.aspx

My email response wouldn't have been nearly as polite. As most others have been saying, it sounds like you've learned more on MFP than in your sessions with this other person so just dump her and keep learning on your own and with friends here. I went through a program co-run by my primary care physician and a nutritionist…

It really depends on your goals and what your body can handle. My goal is to currently lose weight so having an elevated heart rate during my strength session helps that. To get that elevated heart rate I do a cardio session first. That said, if I'm lifting for numbers I would either skip the cardio first or more likely…

With so many FT4 endorsements I just ordered one. Thanks folks.

Not silly at all. Well done!

I didn't even think about posting this kind of NSV but I made my gym's "leaderboard" for "most weight lifted in 30 days" for last month - I'm number 3 out of 5 in the men category! Go us!

Are you taking breaks on the elliptical as well? If you're lowering the intensity every couple of minutes on the treadmill but not doing the same on the elliptical that would partially explain it. The other thing to keep in mind is how much more you're working your upper body on the elliptical than when you're on the…

Interesting read - thanks for posting.

Any kind of major life change can be scary. But the thing to remember is how positive this change will be and to just smile and embrace it.

Looking great!

I love that "Break the ruler" phrase!

^Alex does not like this.

These are great! I just started a few weeks ago at the gym so I don't have anything yet but I'm sure I will and I promise to share.

I can't help much for the food aspect other than make a deal with her that she will try at least one bite of anything you put in front of her. If she likes it she can have more, if she doesn't then you won't push it on her. Then go on a chase for any and every kind of veggie you can find - everybody has at least one they…

I am about to go to the gym for the 10th consecutive day and feel confident I will continue.

I've found these things called "sandwich thins" and similar products like the Goldfish Bread which is available in whole wheat and only has 100 calories for the entire 2-piece serving. I can take one of those, some slices of turkey, 1/2 tblspoon miracle whip and some mustard and have a great sandwich for under 300 cals.

I'm curious what others are going to say here. I only started really working out a couple of weeks ago and have followed the general rule of eating back my exercise calories - and my weight loss seems to have slowed down. So now I'm rethinking things and considering a strategy of eating back only half of my exercise…

http://www.specialk.com/meal-bars I start almost every workday with one of these for breakfast since I usually only have time to eat while driving to work. Sometimes I have one for lunch too or a before/after-workout boost. The local BJ's Wholesale Club sells big boxes of them with half double chocolate flavor and half…

I would say start fresh - put your current weight as your starting weight and then you'll have your "old journey" and your "new MFP journey". Two stories of success are always better than one!

This is a pretty late response but I saw nobody else had replied and I just visited one today so I figured I'd fill you in. I liked it. It's small (only 6 circuit machines, 3 eliptical, and 3 treadmills) but since the exercises are targeted for 30 minutes and people come in all the time it didn't seem like it fills up…

I've found that the pain-in-the-butt-ness of entering everything I eat in a food diary or MFP on my phone helps me curb the desire to eat more. The trick is forcing yourself to enter it first, before you pick it up. Even just seeing how much of a hit my daily limit will take if I eat another cookie is enough to make me…
