  • this has never been the case where squat bars are different than bench barbells...they're all the same in every gym I've been to, and I'm going to run of the mill gyms, ..LA Fitness, Bally's, 24 Hour Fitness, etc. and when someone asks how much you bench ... that's total weight so you would have to include the weight of…
  • for me... under cardio ..there's a strength training item ..i just use that.
  • I'd have to go Trek ... Star Wars was awesome ... loved the light sabers and the force, but ... although both are sci-fi ... I found Trek to be more believable than Star Wars. I remember as a kid dreaming about living in Star Trek's universe way more than Star Wars. Also, making and releasing episodes 1, 2 and 3 didn't…
  • As you can see.... it's really your own personal preference and knowing yourself and your ability to self motivate. I like the gym cause it's convenient, ..it's near day care so I drop kids off and go straight to the gym. I swim, so the gym is my only option there. There are people to talk to at the gym, ..get advice, get…
  • I'm going to guess it's lay down on your back...legs straight out and lift them together up off the floor
  • Someone already mentioned nuts, but I'm going to reiterate it. My favs right now are almonds, cashews and brazil nuts. I do about 4 or 5 brazil nuts (they're big), a small handful of cashews and a handful of almonds. What I measure out is usually around 300-350 calories. Have you considered doing protein shakes? When I…
  • My mom ... nothing is satisfactory. My mom is critical about everything I do, ..i'm too fat, i'm too skinny, i need a better job, i need to raise my kids better, i need to eat better, i need to exercise more, etc. etc. ... i think it's just in some mother's nature to be a royal pain in the butt. I'm of the…
  • Best idea is to eat less of what you listed... but.... I love JJ's and RR's, ... panera and subway doesn't do much for me..had Panera a few times and it was nothing spectacular. Subway is downright boring. however, when I do eat there: Subway, get with no mayo or no cheese. Subway is way inferior to Jimmy John's in my…
  • 5 days a week M-F. 75-90 minutes each day. MWF weight lifting and some elliptical. TTh various cardio (treadmill, stationary bike, jump rope, shuttle runs, basketball, etc.) Motivation...I write down everything I do and each week I try to do better, run faster, whatever it is. Then I set some broader goals. For me right…
  • Yes ..all or most of it at least. When you setup your MFP weight loss goals, the amount of calories it tells you to hit already has a safe deficit factored in. If you don't eat your exercise calories back, you're creating much more of a deficit. If your exercise is burning a couple hundred calories, then it may or may not…
  • that's the kind of person that make me fear our society's future. Always someone else's fault for their difficulties and always expecting/demanding others to change to accommodate them. .... never actually looking at themselves as the ones that need changing.
  • I agree with ^ ^. I don't like saying that ..it's just in your mind....but from what it sounds like...it's just your mindset. You are not fully committed. You may say you are, but your actions clearly indicate otherwise. You need to make the commitment to yourself and be ready to make the sacrifices necessary to accomplish…

  • there was a guy at my gym that would yell out loud motivational sayings...while on the treadmill. It wasn't something that only the few people around him could hear...the whole gym could. ...After that .. don't care. Although there was the time a girl was grunting and moaning from some ab thing she was doing ...and it just…
  • I have a real estate brokerage and a property management firm.
  • i do usually daily...but don't get hung up on the number too much, especially if it goes up a little.. i just like to be able to see a trend.
  • Most of the time it's dehydration ...i get the headaches if i don't constantly drink water during and after my workouts ... like pretty much I have to drink water constantly all day else my head will hurt.
  • ^^ This was what I've read as a good goal when you're strength training... ...I do not get that much but I've always been over what MFP tells me I should be at. ... usually way over. protein in general keeps you feeling full longer ... my belief is any excess protein just gets pooped out ... and it may make you constipated…
  • What she said ^ I'd say drastically change your workout including strength training. Congrats on the 100 lbs!!
  • I've never done 2-a-day strength training. If you have the energy to do a 2nd strength training session ... I'm gonna say you're not working hard enough in the first one. :) I have done strength training in the morning and then cardio in the evening ....only lasted 3 weeks doing 3x a week though. Too much time for me.
  • the only exercise that i'm remotely fearful of is bench press. Squatting in a squat rack has the long arms that come out to rest the bar on ..or in worst case...if you can't make it back up... I've actually done bench press in a squat rack and used those same catch arms in case...but different body sizes will fit…
  • I'd say you're being overly sensitive and over analyzing things. Competing with you on calories burned? I don't bust my *kitten* every day at the gym just so I can one up someone on MFP. Who knows why these folks are on MFP but haven't friended you. Why do you actually care? Do you msg them without them msg'ing you first?…
  • You're at a good starting point. Some overall suggestions... strength training is a long term thing. Don't rush it or else you risk injury and that just means being set back in your goals. You need to change up your workout every few weeks...I do minor changes every 3rd week and more drastic changes every 6th week. You…
  • Can you tell us what you can do so far? Hard to recommend how to improve without knowing where you're at.
  • Add me! I'm hell bent on losing around 30lbs by August of this year. My reward will be a trip to Vegas for my b-day! Open invite for anyone to add. :)
  • indeed..and I don't know why ... cue janet jackson and the fall out from that! ...i never understood the big deal. Do people REALLY think that a kid seeing a boob will forever destroy their lives? Are those people THAT naive?
  • I never found public breastfeeding to be offensive in any way. I'm happy that mom's choose to breastfeed wherever the hell they can. Boob milk is far better than any formula so I would prefer the babies out there to get boob fed wherever and whenever they can. And mom's that breast feed in public ...crying out for…
  • wait gained, being overweight or just being out of shape didn't come from just a day or two of eating poorly/not exercising .. likewise a day or two of indulging in whatever yummy foods that are available isn't going to have a huge impact in the bigger picture ...
  • i am not logging till monday and that makes me happy! :)
  • i track calories only. My belief is that by doing so, I'm already watching what I eat and eating better. It sucks to know how long it takes to burn 150 calories on the treadmill ...do I really want to eat this donut that will take me 15 seconds to eat. I find I'm naturally keeping everything else in check. Besides, the…
