This is a great post. Thank you for sharing!

How did you do yesterday?

You could set a timer on your phone for every 5 or 10 minutes. When it goes off, take a drink. You can annoy yourself into the habit. :-P

Heh. Don't actually kick kittens. That's bad, mmmk?

Happy 1 year! This is a fantastic post. I love that your approach to all of this is so practical and straight forward. People in the WLS community tend to gloss over the fact that they're human: they don't talk about their slip-ups, or that they sometimes still eat cookies, or that it's ok to still eat the things you like.…

That's so exciting!!! It's in the back of my mind to have it done, so keep us updated on your progress with it. I'm not sure if I'll ever be able to, but you never know. Are you only planning on upper body, or do you plan on doing lower body too in the future?

Maaaaaaaaaaaaaaan! I didn't need to know these existed! Lol. Byebye paycheck. It was nice knowing you.
-
Hell yeah!!! Congrats!

I went through the process all out of order, but grand total, it took about 3 months. I think it was a little over a week for the insurance approval. My husband had the same surgery as I did, and I think it was almost 3 weeks for his insurance approval (same insurance as mine). So it really depends.

Check out this lady's blog. It's for bariatric surgery patients, but she has some tips and ideas for pureed foods. http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/2007/08/pureed-foods.html

I just started physical therapy for mine this week. I've had two steroid injections, but only one of them has helped. I'm at the point where I can walk fine, but for awhile, I was confined to my couch because I could only be on my feet for a minute or so at a time. Surgery may be in my future, but I'm hoping that the PT…

I don't regret mine at all. I'll be a year out next week. It's a learning curve like others said, but it definitely has been worth it.

Honestly, if you've just increased your exercise/added a new routine, you're most likely hanging on to some water weight. Your overall trend is still down, so just keep chugging along.

^Yep, lettuce leaves would work, or there are low-carb wraps out there that aren't bad. Flat Out is pretty decent flavor and texture-wise. @jcavanna2 has mentioned ThinSlim products in some other threads. http://www.thinslimfoods.com/ They have a sampler pack so you can test out a bunch of their products if you want. The…

I use mine like coffee creamer. I add about 2 tablespoons to each cup of coffee I have. The caramel one is by far my favorite.

I get bored with having the same things all the time, so I try to mix it up a little. I try to keep things quick and easy, or easy to prep in advance so I can just assemble and go. For example, these are two of my favorites because they're easy to prep in advance. I just have to put the parts together:…

It looks great! I honestly thought you had just had your hair restyled; I never would have guessed.

You can get plain/unflavored Greek yogurt if you're tired of sweet stuff. :) It might be a welcome break. Just remember to take small bites and eat slow, and pay attention to how you're feeling (full, sick, etc). It's a learning process.

I do what @Lisidy does. I almost always have fully cooked, frozen chicken breasts on hand and some frozen vegetables. I'm incredibly lazy when it comes to cooking, so fast and easy is what I strive for. I also batch cook on weekends in my Instant Pot or slow cooker. I'll cook up a bunch of meat (usually chicken, sometimes…

@pneschich This is the flavorless/sugarfree/unsweetened protein I used: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0013OWAB4/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1 $19.99 on Amazon, and I think it worked pretty well. I found it as a recommendation on another bariatric site. I mostly added it to soups, but also added it to…

I live vicariously through you @NicoleL874 since I'm not in the dating pool anymore. I think the nicknames are great! I had Music Man, Green Card Guy, Narcolepsy Boy, and a couple others I can't remember anymore.

I know I had quite a bit of hair loss that didn't start until I was about 6-8 weeks out. I was getting all of my protein, plus vitamins, plus biotin and it was still coming out. The good news is, it has started coming back in, it just takes some time. My husband had the same surgery and had no hair loss (the jerk. lol).…

Are you looking for protein sources? Or just food in general? For protein sources: Spirulina Greek yogurt eggs Seitan Quinoa has some Beans Nuts (more fat, but do have some protein)
-
Lol @nicolel874 I know what you mean! I say "run" but I really mean I shuffle along just fast enough to not fall off the treadmill.
-
A VSGer on my list goes to bootcamp classes several times a week and loves them. When I'm not injured, I do a workout video in the mornings before work (usually step aerobics), I lift 3 days a week, and "run" 2 days a week.

I weigh myself daily, but it's because I like to track the fluctuations. As long as that graph line is trending down overall, I'm good. I fluctuate a lot and always have. Surgery has only made it more evident. Too much sodium one day and I'm up 6lbs on the scale the next day. It's kind of ridiculous. As far as the scale…

I drink mostly plain water except in the morning I have to add a little bit of Crystal Light or it won't go down. I drink coffee and tea (mostly unsweetened, but do add a splenda packet sometimes). I was a big water drinker pre-surgery, like 16-20 glasses a day. It's still a struggle a lot of days to make sure I'm getting…
