  • Lol! My husband likes to point this out to me quite often (he had VSG a year ago).
  • I had it done in March of this year, and it is the best thing I have ever done for myself. I'm down 80lbs and still going. I was anti-surgery (for myself), but went through the classes and doctors appointments. I felt if I went through it all and still was against it, I wouldn't do it. At the end, I decided it was the best…
  • Most places will have soup. If they have a children's menu, they'll often have applesauce or cottage cheese.
  • Lol. If there's an MFP forum wedding, can I be the flower girl? :D
  • You look fantastic!!
  • Congrats! It's a little scary, but don't be afraid to reach out here or to your surgery team if you have any questions.
  • 1. Maintain my workout schedule of cardio in the a.m., lifting 3x per week, and jogging 2x per week 2. Stick to my diet plan through the holidays. I did pretty well with Thanksgiving, so hoping Christmas goes well too. 3. I want to lose 9lbs by my follow-up appointment at the end of the month. Not sure if it will happen,…
  • You could do fattier cuts of meat. Like chicken thighs or 80/20 (if you eat beef). Higher fat or full fat dairy. More calories for the same serving size. Add butter or olive oil to your veggies. Full fat dressing on a salad. Maybe add in some treats?…
  • I went and tried clothes on for the first time in... months yesterday. I've been living in leggings, skirts, and dresses because it's easy and I don't have to continuously update my wardrobe as I shrink out of it. I ended up buying a size 16 jeans, down from a 24. The 16s fit perfectly, so I'm not sure how long I'll be…
  • The too few calories thing is a myth. Make sure you're following your surgeon's and dietitian's recommendations for vitamins, water, and protein. Make an appointment and have a chat with your dietitian if you're worried about calorie intake down the road. I'm sure they get those questions often.
  • I need to try the pickle juice trick. I don't get the black and swirly thing often, but it does happen more than I care for. I usually do the Powerade Zero, but if pickle juice works, might as well try it.
  • Oh yeah. My "can't eat anything" frustrations are all about quantity, not food type. I try to to make any food forbidden as that will just cause issues for myself later on. :-)
  • I still do on occasion, but I mostly find myself wandering around my kitchen in frustration, because "I can't eat anything". I am/was a binge eater pre-surgery, but eating is only satisfactory as a stress reliever if I can eat ridiculous quantities (like a large pizza and and an order of breadsticks in a sitting). I…
  • Love it!! My husband and I just bought a house and moved in this weekend. I have no idea where any of our costume stuff is right now. Lol. I'm wearing leggings with black cats on them, and black cat shoes today to try to be as festive as I can.
  • My goals this month are: 1. Practice good eating habits while on a week-long vacation 2. Practice good eating habits through the whole month 3. Continue workout routine for the whole month (and doing what I can on vacation--it may be nothing, it may just be walking)
  • It varies. Most days, I don't eat until 10am or so. Today, I had coffee and a protein bar. 235 calories, 23 c, 22 p, 8 f. Beacause I ate early today, I'm having a dry roasted edamame as a snack. 200 calories, 16 c, 20 p, 6 f. I won't eat lunch now until about 3:30 or 4.
  • Heavy is what is heavy for you. It's going to vary person-to-person, so there is no set number. The sort of general rule is 12-15 reps = light weight 8-12 reps = moderate weight 5-8 reps = heavy You want to make sure you're progressing. I would recommend looking into a weight lifting program, like New Rules of Lifting for…
  • Lol @NicoleL874 thanks! I saw it the other day and about died laughing.
  • Lol @ "naycher lover". It took a minute to figure out what that was.
  • I really struggled with the decision to have surgery because despite all evidence to the contrary, I thought I could do it on my own. For me, I felt the surgery was "cheating", giving up, and taking the easy way out. My husband had VGS about 6 months before I did. He wanted this to be something that we did together, and…
  • I had a guy similar to that. He'd call, set something up and then when I would try to confirm...crickets. I wouldn't hear anything for several days or weeks and then he'd either email or text wanting to set something up. He claimed he had narcolepsy which is why he would stop responding. lol. I may be blond, but I'm not…
  • Maybe this is your new superpower.
  • I recommend doing a lot of research on the weightloss surgery options out there. It may be a little overkill, but my husband and I spent a good 4 months reading forums, medical journals, and statistics on the various types before settling on the one we wanted. Start checking out hospitals that perform weightloss surgery.…
  • I used straws occasionally. They tell you not to because it lets in too much air, but I "ingested" a bunch of air regardless (so many burps the first 3 weeks). I found it a bit easier to get my liquids in using a straw. I would just be careful and sip slowly. As far as the contradictory info, I would do what the others…
  • I went back to the September goals thread to compare the start of the month with the end: 1. Make sure to hit my protein goal daily--including weekends when I tend to slide 2. Incorporate exercise on one weekend day each week 3. Continue current weight/cardio routine 4. Go to bed earlier 5. Consistently plan, shop, and…
  • Here's my (mostly) current progress: Aug 2015: I was close to 300lbs. Maybe 285-290 in that picture. Aug 2016, I was around 225-230. Currently, I'm around 220.
  • These pictures are incredible!
  • First things first: you have to stop freaking out. Seeing a higher number on the scale is sending you into a tailspin of yo-yo dieting behavior. Easier said than done, I know, but you have to do it. For your sanity if nothing else. Second: Have you spoken with a dietitian? Someone that can help you set a reasonable calorie…
  • Nope, I think it's normal. The Google Voice number is a really smart idea! No sense in giving all the weirdos your real number.
  • He was one of the two. :) Spend anytime in the online dating scene and you'll get one (or a dozen). I usually responded with "aww. It's so cute and tiny!" I got called a b*tch a lot. Lol!
