Never too old to get healthier...and certainly being in your 40s is not old.

My gym has a staff of personal trainers, so I would ask them. I read a lot from Men's Health fitness books and research online about how to properly do exercises. I see a lot of guys at the gym doing different things but also note that they have bad form and would rather ask someone who has education and training in the…

I don't really talk about it with friends and coworkers. I just do my thing and give a simple response when they mention that they notice I look smaller. I don't talk about it too much with my wife since it makes her feel bad that she is not working to lose weight. She is unhappy with her weight but not doing anything…

Fage is awesome! I get the plain 0% fat and mix dried cranberries in it or I get the individual size cups with fruit flavoring. Great dose of protein in the morning and only about 120 cal.

Good job!

Two things I refuse to give up...coffee and alcohol. I don't drink a lot, but on the weekends I will have a few shots of Jack, Jaeger, or a couple of beers. I just don't have any during the week, limit my alcohol to a few drinks on weekends, and try to save a few calories during the days I do drink to avoid going over.

Good stuff! I've been doing a lot of research on the topic as well and agree with what you say. The problem is most people want the weight to come off fast. So, they just think the more calories they cut and the more exercise they do the better. What they don't realize is that while they may take some weight off quickly…

0545-0700 before I go to work. The gym is usually pretty empty and early in the morning is the only time when I don't have to worry about taking care of my little boys. I get additional exercise in the evenings playing with the kids, taking them walking, etc.

I see losing 10 lb, maybe 15, in that time, but not 30-50. The weight didn't come on that quickly and surely will not come off that quickly either. I think moe5474 has good advice to have a noticable difference in the short time you have. Good luck.

Great choices! Metallica, Megadeth, and Iron Maiden take up the most space on my iPod!

Definitely Metallica.

Log it as calisthenics. Choose light, moderate, or vigorous effort and estimate how much time you spent. When I do these types of workouts, I wear my heart rate monitor to approximate the calories burned.

Forgive me MFP for I have sinned...I award myself amnesty days where I purposely do not log any calories and enjoy many of the things I have either cut out or reduced in order to lose weight. I do not binge, but allow myself to enjoy these things. I am not repentant as I consider these days important for my own mental…

Peanut Butter M&Ms and Reeses Cups. I did eat a chocolate chip cookie though. I worked out this morning and chased my kids around the play ground, so I have the exercise calories available...

I started MFP in Mar 2011 at 202 lb. By September 2011, I hit my lowest weight of 168, but put weight back on as I finished school and suffered back and joint pain problems. So, about 5 weeks ago I started to focus again on using MFP and working out since I graduated from school (no more late nights studying fueled by…

I set my ring tones to be different for key people in my address book. If I get a call from one of those, I can answer without looking at my phone by pressing the button on my wireless head set.

arm band paired with Jaybird Freedom wireless headset. Awesome combination and the size of the phone doesn't bother me for running or lifting.

I have experienced the same thing. Last year I lost 30 lb using MFP and exercising 5-6 days per week. I had my goal set to lose 1 1/2 lb per week, which made my net allowable calories to be around 1500 (based on lightly active lifestyle). I use exercise as a way to buy more calories so that I can eat more. In general I was…

You have a lot to be proud of! You're down 84 lb...you're able to run 3-4 miles several times per week. There are many "skinny" people who can't run from the couch to the refrigerator without taking a break. When I see anyone running and working out, I think "good on them!"...regardless of size. You seem to have a good…

To be healthy...to be fit...to give my sons a better childhood than I had and for them to be healthy, happy, and successful in life.

Whole wheat sandwich slim (100 cal) with 1 individual serving package of tuna (80 cal), 3 table spoons of hummus (90 cal), and a few sprinkles of Texas Pete hot sauce. Good balance of protein and good carbs at under 300 calories. Great for lunch or as post workout snack.

I would say 6. I am a very average person in terms of appearance...not unattractive just not one who gets noticed. In other areas, career, education, etc, I think I'm successful due to hard work and determination. In terms of personality, a 7...I'm not a boring person but am certainly not the life of the party.

You have to be much more than a 4! Having lost 146 lb shows huge determination, drive, and commitment to bettering yourself. Those are great personality traits that translate to other areas of life and make anyone very attractive in my book!

Set a goal to run 20-30 min. Run until you just can't push yourself to go anymore, then do a mix of walking an running. Walk for 2 min, then run for 2, repeating this cycle until you have hit the 20-30 min mark. As you do more running, you will increase the distance of that initial running period and will walk less and…

Go to the gym 4 days and to stay away from the peanut butter m&ms at work. My will power just lasts so long when those are around!
