96 miles this month for me...time to step it up!
-
A whole bunch of halfs, hopefully LA full, a zombie run and my first tri!

Request sent!

After a half, generally none. I may take it easier on the next run or two, but that's about it. Now....if I raced really hard and am sore, then I'll take it a little easier, maybe skip a run. I really truly believe in listening to your own body, you know if you should run or not. It also depends a bit on how experienced a…

Should pass the 1015 miles I ran last year the first week of November!
-
No, I decided to run the second at the end of training for my first because I enjoyed my first so much I didn't want training to end and couldn't wait to do it again. I guess my thing is that unless you are a very seasoned runner the rule of thumb tends to be no more than 2 marathons a year, but spaced at least 4-6 months…

+1 I ran 2 simi close together, march and June, so not as close as you plan to, but I regret it. I became over trained and injured and I'm not sure I've even recovered yet metally. I think you just have to listen to you body and your mind and ask yourself why? If you just want to redeem your original performance that is…

I'm also in SoCal, but always looking for more cali pals!

Could also be Posterior Tibial Tendonitits...if it is take that seriously! I have it and it's not fun and regardless whenever your foot/feet hurt it's gonna change your naturaly form and over time will likely lead to other injuries. Go see a doctor, don't be like me and wait until a year later and rack up other injuries…

Foam rolling has helped me tremendously with my ITBS that I got from my last marathon. Also certain yoga poses are a savior and I try to hit a yoga class once a week and I'd recomment pigeon pose probably at the top of the IT stretching list. A serious break from running is probably the only thing that will "cure" your…

Check out cleaneatingmag.com or eatcleandiet.com In a nutshell it's avoiding processed food and eating only whole foods LOTS of veggies and lean protien.

I am a runner, but a because I love it not because it's the best way to lose or keep of weight. Honestly it's actually not the best way. Running and endurance exercise increase the production hormones in the body that are counter productive to weight loss and weight maintenance, but I do it anyway because it gives me great…

Palm Springs!

Gotta ask...if you're not looking forward to training then why do it? There are lots of other ways to run distance that don't require training for a full marathon.
-
Well they say you generally, and I say generally, burn 100 cals per mile regardless of speed. Personally I've found this pretty accurate. While it's not life or death, I'm sure your balls felt bigger when you thought you were burning more ;)
-
I used Marathon Training academy for my first, created my own for my upcoming second.

Interesting website...although...below 21% bf for women is too little? huh...

It's worth a read/listen...whether or not it will help you run faster...maybe. It's all about his definition of proper running form and cadence. Obviously it you have a faster cadence you will likely be a more efficient faster runner and thus be able to cover distances faster with more endurance. I wouldn't expect any…

I agree, there is so much info, and conflicting info, that it's enough to make your head spin. The latest on I've heard is that it's not even necessary because once you reduce your miles you are requiring less glycogen and thus theoretically carb-loading by doing nothing but reducing your work load. In the end it just…

What difficult to say is how much loose skin you'll have after losing 80lbs. I'm probably a size or two bigger than I should be because of loose skin. It also depends on the clothing brand, how muscular you are, where you're weight is distributed, etc. I mean seriously anywhere between a 4-10 would be resonable to expect.

I don't have any recommendations, but maybe just a word about what to expect. I did LA last Sunday and there was a lot of downhill...one word ouch! My thighs hurt way sooner and way more than they do in a normal long run and I've never been so sore in my entire life afterwards. I'm not really sure how you'd train for a…

What did you do for your 18, your 20? It's the same run, just 2 extra miles:) For me pace is EVERYTHING, take it slow - marathon pace +60-90 seconds and then at the halfway point if you're feeling it you can start to pick up the pace a little. Congrats on making this far in your training, that's a HUGE accomplishment!

There are SO many plans to choose from, Hal's programs are fantastic, but if you're not a fan of running be sure you pick a plan that truly fits your lifestyle and is conservative with the miles, just in case you don't fall in love with it, you don't want to burn out. I think I would like Marathon Training Academy's 1/2…

5 miles yesterday, 124 total for the month (I think)
-
124 miles running
-
I'll have 124 miles after my 5 miler this afternoon.
-
That's a tough one. I'm not sure 2 runs would be quite enough for me to figure it out. I think most of my issues with the proverbial wall are pace related rather than fuel related, but it still took me a while to figure it out my body's fueling requirements. I usually take my first 60-90 mins in then every 45-60 mins…

20 miles Sunday - taper time!

Splenda is POISON stay away at all costs! Stevia is choice number one, then agave nectar, then honey then sugar (organic and the like). Artificial sugars always make me hungry and they are poison for your body. Rant over.
