I like to run my 10k marathons at face pace, works every.single.time.

That is awesome! I'm 12 weeks tomorrow and I am registered for a half in June, but I'm not gonna lie, I'm not very confident I'm going to be able to do it. I've been struggling big time to exercise at all in the last 10 weeks or so because of the nausea and exhaustion. I'm hoping that any day I'm going to be feeling better…

Yep, totally the wrong idea...you obviously are just there to check out all the yoga butts... Kidding aside...I'm not sure I've ever even remotely cared how many guys are in the class...now if their downward dog looks better than mine...well then we have a problem...seriously, namaste and get your yoga on.

I run in the early morning in the dark, almost exclusively. Have never had an issue other than getting scared of shadows. I generally run on the side walk or in the bike lane and usually against traffic. I wear a head lamp also, although not as often as I should. Unless you live somewhere with no sidewalks, in the ghetto,…

Say what????? It depends on your goals, current fitness, etc. If you feel good rock on...if not scale it back. As far as not running more than 15 miles per week unless you're training for a marathon...well that IS crazy talk.
-
But we're already friends and have been for a looooong time:) But looks like you've picked up some good ones!

1148 miles running

I run and do yoga and sorry to strongly disagree but yoga does not burn as much as you think, not sure where you get this info from. At best you'll burn 150-300 cals depending your weight, effort and style of yoga during a 90 minute class. Hot Vinyasa will burn slightly more just by the fact that it does elevate your heart…

What's your plan? Most plans don't recommend starting them until you can run 5 miles, not trying to discourage but just want to makes sure you're on a realistic time frame. My best advice, don't rush it. My first was amazing and an awesome experience, but it kind of ruined the shorter distances for me...I wish I had taken…

You'll get a lot of different opinions on this...bottom line is you just need to start experimenting and find what works for you during your training...some will say you don't need to fuel with gels, that our body has enough stores and will eventually start to burn fat and that this is the preffered fuel source for the…

If you've never done spin I'd say absolutely not. I do spin and have run marathons and I still probably wouldn't spin 3 days before...5 maybe and if I did, I'd be half-*kitten* about my effort...really should be resting those legs. Good luck!
-
I'm a pretty average runner, but dedicated (my PRs are on my profile). I'm working through injuries right now, but average 1000 miles a year +/- Feel free to add me if you see fit
-
If you want it to suck *kitten* it's a great idea. Seriously though, plenty of time to find another half and properly train.
-
Congrats! 1098 miles for the year so far for me:)
-
You could, although sometimes it is nice to support local and local stores often offer and longer "Love 'em or return 'em" policy. I think were I go it's like a 90 day trial. Once you find a shoe you love you can then buy online for a huge discount.
-
That is amazing! Congrats to you!
-
I'm working through some injuries at the moment so I'll be perfecting my half until I'm full ready again...wouldn't mind dropping a few in the process.

I've been a solo runner for quite a while and joined a club about 2 months ago...I have seen some pretty signficant pace improvements from it. Not sure why this is the case...most of the runners are faster than me and I do have to push myself to keep up...so maybe it's a little speed work in disguise. But besides that it's…

The footpod is for the treadmill or if you want to record your cadence. Garmin has tons of options for 200-300 bucks, pick one you'll love it.
-
Yup last year I ran LA in March (awesome!), then San Diego RnR in June (sucked!!!!!!) will never do that again!
-
I also drink a cup of coffee before all my runs, that generally is my pre-run "meal" unless I'm running over 12 then I'll add some food too. There are plenty of GU flavors with caffeine and 2xs caffeine, I prefer those for runs over 10 miles, otherwise coffee is all I need.
-
Are there any sloooooow or run/walk first timers in your club? I'd hang back with them and just be prepared to take it easy, it's not worth pushing yourself back into injury just because you don't want to miss out. Good luck and have FUN!
-
Gosh idk...I love running, I love the culture, I love the people, gratitude and accomplishment it's brought into my life. I'm not sure that I've ever hated it...even at the beginning...is it something you could learn to love? Sure I think so, but if it starts out of hatred...that just seems like a weird place to start.…

Actually it's Globally Organized Hug A Runner Day (GO HARD) :) ((((hugs))))
-
I ran my second half in August of 2011 and my first full in March 2012, you'll be fine. Just find yourself a good training program, they are all over the internet and I agree Higdon is great, and have FUN! Just be carefull you don't get bit by the bug, once you go full you never go back:)
-
I've been running for almost 3 years now, mostly 1/2 marathon distances and a couple fulls. Starting to dabble in the shorter distances a little, but mostly just have fun and run! Add me if you'd like:)
-
I agree with Carson, I just knew. I honestly can't explain it either...but deep down I just knew it was something I needed to do, for me though no one else.
-
Feel free to add me, I've been running for almost 3 years and always love more runner friends:)

Exactly, I lost my uterus 2 races ago and I'm so awesome right now, it's kinda disgusting... In all seriousness, for some people it's really hard on the body for others it's great. Some studies say it increases bone density. Bottom line, do what makes you happy.

Wipies are for rookies JR...lol! For my first half I played if very safe, I had pasta with red sauce NO veggies (no one wants extra fiber before a race), not too much fat and no dessert. Since then I've been able to experiment, but general rule of thumb nothing new before race day. Also carb loading I think is kinda…
