Hope the PT helps you as it did me. I had two herniated discs, four steroid injections, and strong analgesics, but when I was finally put in a serious PT program, that did the trick. Mostly core and leg strengthening exercises. Of course, weight loss, especially in the abdominal area, helps take strain off your back.…

Good to learn that some of you are losing weight despite hypothyroidism. I shot up 10# when my meds were changed. They're being cautious due to a nodule they're watching. With intermittent fasting (16/8) and trying to stay low carb, I'm slowly losing. I'm wondering about symptoms you all have. Are dizziness and leg cramps…

Just listened to the first podcast. Fantastic. As a nurse, I really appreciate the candid remarks about Big Pharma influencing their practice (throwing drugs at medical conditions)...but now evidence (low carb and lifestyle changes), from their own experience and their patients, is their practice model. Thanks for the…

Hey George. Looks like most folks on this thread were on it in 2014, but I'm here on 2/4/19. Are you still on mfp? Anyone else?

I'd like to join in as well. I was on WW and don't want to pay anymore...lost #15 in 9 mo. I'm a carb addict, and would like to try keto for better results. Just bought "Simply Keto" by Suzanne Ryan for recipe suggestions. Age: 66 CW: 180 GW: 145 😊

Hi. I just switched back to MFP from a successful WW plan (<20#!) I like tracking, and MFP is better at it than WW because there are more options and less guessing (thanks to member's input), and it's free! Much success to you.

Whoa...not tempted by bacon! Fantastic. I've started the 16/8 intermittent fasting a few days ago. I'm amazed that I'm not hungry until noonish, and that I don't snack in the evening. I've slept better too. Dropped 4 lbs.

Hello. Starting the 16/8 today. Nothing else has worked well for me, so I'm giving it a go. It's almost dinner time...so far, so good. It seems a good way to keep calories on track. No snacking after dinner will be the ultimate challenge.

Rob from Bandana Training has done wonders with LaTasha. She needed him in the beginning. In his website he promotes weights more than cardio, and sound nutritional advise...especially for body builders (no hormones). I know him personally, and he's a really nice guy. Love the Prancercize video. Too funny, but she seems…

Quiet? LOL...eating mixed nuts and checking to see how many calories I have left for the day. I've been logging, but just barely staying close to my goal. Motivation is not very strong just now. I keep thinking a fresh New Year start will be good....BUT...I don't want to lose the same pounds over again. That's too…

pondee629...I wasn't going to take my phone, but maybe I will. Thanks.

Good suggestions!

Thanks everyone. Healthy snacks like almonds might be a good one. Photo journaling ....cool idea.

I like the idea of continuing to write my food down, and eating more healthy foods. That does seem to keep me honest and on track. But I won't be obsessive about it. I'll make it more of a "documentary" of the good food there. LOL. We're taking our neice along, and we'll probably want to share desserts...maybe she'll be…

Good suggestions. Thanks. Planning, mindfulness, exercise... I'll be in the Land of Yummy Baked Goods....Paris! I'll be doing a lot more walking than usual though. Only 8 days there ....and really watching it before I go. Thanks again!

I'm in now.... So far: Me:0 LNS:3. My hardest time of day too. :/

Hi. I've been doing 1200 cal/day for about a month now....losing about a pound/week. It's gotten easier. I do a protein drink in the mornings to keep me full 'till lunch and it's only 160 cal....so that helps. I can't exercise because of an injury, and losing weight will help healing, so I'm super motivated to stay at…

Hi...wow, it's been awhile since I've looked at this group (of us two)...so sorry. I agree, grounding myself in the Word early in the day helps set the tone. I bought a really neet booklet at a women's retreat last Fall...Food, Fitnessd, and Faith for Women A 21 Day Journey To a New You...published in 2010 by…

Hi...same here. I have to lose about 40# because of a couple of herniated lumbar discs...well...I know that will help take the pressure off that area. So, I'm motivated anyway and ....low carb it is. It's worked for me in the past. Seems like when I eat any carb in the morning, I crave carbs all day. I'm starting out with…

Hello...are you or anyone else still on this board? I fit the discription on all three counts.

Hi....first of all...I love your Peanuts pic...here in Michigan I find myself looking out at all the snow quite often lately...haha. I too am doing my best to lost 40-50 pounds by staying at 1200 Cal/day and exercising at least 30-60 min/day at least 5 days/week....and recording everything I pop into my mouth. I've always…

Hello...It's good to see someone on MFP who is taking Belviq. I'm on it, and have noticed a difference in my mood and motivation to stay within my calories/day and to exercise at least 30 minutes/day. Could be "halo effect", but I'm hoping not. I learned about it while taking continuing education credits on nurse.com. I…

Hi...just joined this group today. Been reading Joyce Meyer's "Battlefield of the Mind" lately, and it dawned on me that I've had what she calls a "wilderness mentality"....and that the Lord has said to my heart..."You have dwelt long enough on this mountain" (Deut. 1:6)...Joyce says, "You may be facing situations that are…

Wow...I'd ask the surgeon how'd he/she would do it. How about using Protein drinks as a meal supplement once a day? Stay hydrated. They used to recommend the Cabbage Soup Diet for pre-surgery weight loss. Wishing you success with your surgery.
