For most people it is not sustainable.

I got in this to lose weight, by I changed my goal to getting fit. It includes lots of running, the healthiest diet I can manage, and until I started training for a marathon, strength training. Once I finish the big M, I will be back to strength training.

Right, fruits AND vegetables. When it comes to calories, you can't beat vegetables. Our problem is always balance, and portions.

I believe it is. I am runner, but I still take at least one day off. Muscles need time to grow and repair. I suppose if you are doing light weights and high reps, you are safer. But if you are doing challenging routines, rest days are important. Even elite athletes need a rest. But I am with you, I enjoy doing something…

Heart rate monitors have an even more important purpose than being a gauge for measuring calories burned. Most people get them for that purpose, which is good. BTW - they too, are an estimate. The only way to accurately measure calories burned is with metabolic testing. But it is a consistent read out of effort, so that is…

I always agree with Carson. Slow down. I would also add this. When it comes to hills, walk to them, and then run up them. Don't run to the hill and walk up it. Hills can be tough, but they will make the flat areas seems easy. And run longer. If you are doing 2 or 3 miles or so, make it 4 on one of your runs, even 5. It…

I have logged for over 800 days and I do not know anyone that is working for. I also know that 73% of us will fail, and not even reach 5 years. As one of my long time friends on here often says, see you at the funeral.

I haven't had a blister, but I just use body glide under mine except here the contacts hit.

Good sources of protein are garbonzo beans (any beans), fish, chicken, pork, beef, eggs, nuts and low fat dairy. My personal opinion is that you learn how to eat and exercise for life. Then you can tweak things and add supplements if needed. I also think that MFPs carbs are too high, so go in and customize the settings.…

Love almond, but cashews and peanut are great too. I buy the sugar free nut butters.

Body weight exercises are free. Push ups, crunches, supermans, planks, squats, lunges, burpees, backwards push ups. sit-ups, beetle backs, bicycles, high knees - look them up on YouTube. Then get some resistance bands and find a free weighweight set at a yard sale. I just have a couple of dumbbells I got for $2.00. Been…

I would caution against a diet that you cannot sustain for a lifetime. That said, you can eat less carbs. I try to balance my carb and protein intake evenly. 35% carbs / 35% protein / 30% fat. It is also good to get fiber and essential fats. I stick with lean red meat, fish, chicken, eggs, low fat cheese (Swiss and goat) a…

Just get right into the time zone you are in. Coffee!

From my obesity, age, lack of fitness, a lower-back injury in my 20s, and a dislocated vertebra in a car accident, I had a lot of issues. Here are some things that helped. - Losing weight - Ultrasound treatments - Lower-Back massage - Heat and hot tubs - Good shoes - Hydration! - Back belt for the gym - Managing my…

Smartphone with Google calendar, email, and my social media apps. Then I have a banking app which I can manage my online bills and make payments with. I scan all my important papers and put them on my backed up hard drive. I use a shopping list app, run and exercise apps. And I have keys in one pocket, wallet in the other,…

You are healthier now. You are more fit now. You like you better now. Who cares what anyone else thinks!

I breakfast sandwiches because they are a nice blend of protein, carbs and fat. They have egg, whole wheat bagel, low fat Swiss and salmon or turkey sausage.

Same as on my bathroom scale... ;) Anything that portions are measured in weight. Read the label. You can convert cups to weight by zeroing your scale with an empty cup. Same with stuff like peanut butter. BTW - a teaspoon is a level teaspoon.
